Nice to see both channels give us time with a story about Ed Baranowski.

Which was best??

I only saw the tv 3 one. Good to see them getting some good fitness focus. Too many slouchy looking players last season, not to mention those late goals.

TV 1 was pretty good. Leitch went straight into the chelski win straight after and no smart arse remark was forth coming.

Both surprisingly were pretty good - except for Veitch's/poison dwarf's weird screechy voice.

Both up on their websites.

f**k.  Even the Nix's piss tests are riveting...roll on Nix season 2.  OH NO.  MADHOUSE HAS COME OVER ME.  f**k.  WELLINGTON. PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL.  CAN'T f**kING BELIEVE IT.  DO YOU FEEL IT HT?

Man I though this was another thread complaining about lack of coverage and I was all prepared to bust in here with my 'What! We should be complaining to Sky Sports Highlight channel, during the EPL season it was only 'best of the rest' and now there's one week left there is Football highlights but irregularly scheduled...Ridiculous!"

But to keep this on topic, the story said that he was at 5 EPL teams but only mentioned Blackburn and Leeds, anyone know the others.

almost fell over when TV1 had it on, then as LG said Vietch didn't stuff it up with a 'look at me comment'    well done State broadcaster -

TV 3's coverage was good too

edit >>

so, is it 1-1 early on in the battle of the broadcasters for the 08-09 season?

(a battle won so comprehensively by TV3 last season!)

I do think TV3 may have already had something before this on the durrante and/or Bertos signings (but maybe we should start counting now to give the State broadcaster some hope )

I wonder if feverish and Marius could turn this into and election issue?

that's good to hear Bopman, I hope TV1 give TV3 and honest race this year in terms of Nix coverage and that vietch continues tonight's form - good to see the Phoenix and their thousands of fans being treated with some respect by the state broadcaster

re the question above - Ed Baranowski  Previous clubs: Blackburn Rovers, Newcastle United, Leeds United, Manchester City, Bolton Wanderers Career highlight: Winning the English Premier League while with Blackburn Rovers in 1995

So the pre-season form stands at 1-1. Be interesting to see if both camps can maintain this sort of positive form. I sincerely hope so. Lonegunmen2008-05-06 23:52:48

Before we start jizzing over TV1 efforts tonight - my money this season is certainly on TV3 to pull through in the battle for YF approval.  Why?

Thats the guy. this would put TV3 well ahead in the race if they are monitoring us for the stories.

i would like to say that regardless of which channel or even form of media, it's heartening to see the media in general showing an interest in the Nix. Most of which has been quite positive. I think that they too see that the club is trying to make a serious attempt at being successful and that this isn't some publicity stunt to get the club mentioned.

I think coverage of the Nix this coming season will be better than last season and come July, it will really kick-off.

TV 1 has a Nix story on their site today that doesn't appear to have emerged anywhere else (from memory this is a first for them), it isn't particularly strong as a story but  it might indicate that they are trying to lift their game this year,

i have no association with either channel (but i do appreciate TV3's willingness ot cover the Nix in our first season)

this season, I hope there is a bit of competition between them in terms of their Nix coverage - which would (clearly) be good for the club's profile

in my silly little game though, I'm only scoring TV news coverage - so the score remains 1-1

Cheeseman is a footy fan, but then most english people are aren't they?

He supports the hammers too, so he's a miserable football supporter

I hate to burst the bubble Tigers but this was from the Dom a few weeks back when Siggy signed, so we may have to wait a little while longer for TV1 to be first in....

"Phoenix will reassess the squad after pre-season, which includes a 10-day trip to China in June, before deciding whether to sign a right back."

Did anyone spot the deliberate mistake on the TVone clip??

They showed Blackburn winning the premiership, then they said Leeds and showed Port Vale scoring AGAINST Leeds!!!

You can still see the clip on the tvone web site

Si Elliott was on Sports Tonight on TV3 last night.
Great to see.
Although they did refer to Killen as being in the Prem

why don't the just use the Fever to fact check their stories before they out on national TV. stuff ups like that undo all the brownie points they get for covering it in the first place.

I didnt see it, but I mean, technically he's in a premier league :) so I can see how you could get confused.

Don't feel bad guys, when you're interested in a truly minority sport nobody cares about, like MotoGP, you find yourself cursing Dobbo's rubbish at every mention (ie Jorge Lorenzo's first name is not pronounced "George" ) let alone the odd incorrect fact.

Shaun was using the word 'premiership' as a general term to describe top flight football

Apologies to some of you hard markers out there

sorry if i came of as being a bit harsh, but the paucity of quality news coverage for the sport makes us pay that much more attention when it does crop up.

Not really an good enough excuse! What self respecting journo makes a comment like that, a little investigation, general knowledge would know that by saying "premiership" would be misleading. Shoddy really.

correct. Premiership is only one top flight league that I'm aware of and Killen doesn't play in it.
Imagine a rugby journo calling the tri-nations the 3 nations. All hell would break loose
