you were, but how on earth you got from Brazil v Italy to Brazil v Czechoslovakia only you know! (The Czech's were runners up in 1934).

Czechoslovakia were runners-up in 1962 too.

To Brazil, too.

Chipping in my 2 cents, I reckon Patrick was either referring to the 1998 Final (France 3-0 Brazil, Sepp was running FIFA then) or the great 1982 Brazil team that were knocked out by Pauol Rossi's hat-trick. (I think Sepp was Joao Havelange's No2 at that stage).

Brazil were certainly expected to win 1950, but I don't Sepp would have had his snout in the trough back then.

BTW Conmebol used to have 3 team groups for World Cup Qualifying until 1998, when they started putting all their teams in the same group

Am also gutted about the training strip, saw a couple of people wearing them, didn't realise it was for sale, even more annoyed as I had ordered the plain Adidas top via Soccer Shop about a month ago but despite their chasing up, they got told the factory in Oz had run out. I guess the Nix had managed to use up their stock, pretty poor of the club to not even tell the members (or even the YF!) but I suppose that's what we've come to expect from them.

They were also runners up in 62.  Lost 3-1 to Brazil

I was referring to 1950 at the Maracana but had my FIFA presidents mixed up. Serves me right for reviewing a movie I watched two years ago and couldnt even remember the name of on the pod!

The Phoenix took a home game to Sydney, and came back with no points and a measly crowd of 5000, was it worth it? It's the international break this weekend, but Team Wellington are in action in the OCL.

No.

Good Chat team, I am in the boat of I don't like that they took it to sydney but I can 100% understand the reasoning and don't blame them, i am sure they made the best decision for the club at the time of making it.

Also The guests seem to have dried up this season, any chance of a Taylor or Sheridan getting an invite??

We tried a bit earlier in the season and not got much support from the club. Given it takes a lot of effort to organise something and without the club staff buying into helping us out, we've kinda stopped trying for player appearances, unfortunately.

any harm in messaging Sheridan directly? surely he has the ability to appear when and how he wants...

Queenslander 3x a year.

and risk the wrath of the Nix Media staff! He's a Nix player and would be going on a pod cast about the Nix and football so the Nix will want to know what's being said etc (I understand there is usually one of the staff at the recordings when they do have guests on) standard practice these days and there is probably something in his contract about media engagement

Correct. Going around the club to organise something like that is only likely to further harm chances of guests in future (and potentially get the player in trouble too) so it's something we won't pursue. That said thoughnot all guests need to be players or from the club so I'll try and line up a few other interesting football people and see how we go.

There actually is harm in messaging him direct, we have to go through the club for all media appearances, the same process as any other media org. I totally understand it from the Nix's perspective, they need to manage the players and who is doing what, and us trying to skirt that process will make it even harder for us to tee up future guests from the club.

Edit: should have read down before I replied lol. Sorry for rehashing what was already said!

Mate they are both Geordies so do sound similar but they are no way identical - although it would be great if Phoenix City could get Jimmy Nail on - although someone would probably have to explain to Patrick who he is :-P

Hey team - no pod from us this week. Couldn't get more than two of us in the room together and even then it was going to be difficult to do so. Back next week.

Patrick, you really should watch "Auf Wiedersehen Pet" asap. I think you would enjoy and appreciate the Northern humour in it. Has a cast of easily recognisable actors from TV and Film. Series 1 & 2 were brilliant, 3 not too bad, 4 was ok. A true classic british comedy at its best.

Ben Sigmund joins the pod this week to dish the dirt on Dura ahead of El Capitano's Testimonial Dinner, listen in to find out how you can win tickets to the dinner. A record breaking 8-2 win bumps the Nix up into the top four as they prepare to host the Wanderers, and TeeDubs go down 2-1 to Auckland City.
