Even if that is the case, we're talking a profit. We have his salary to spend which was obviously one of the higher ones and I can't begrudge him 1.5m over two years if it is that much.

Yep fair enough.

glad i won that trade me auction for his shirt in his first season with us,it may now get framed and put on the wall, not really happy if he is going but the mighty dollar has to come first for players nearing the end of their careers, take what you can get while it is offered because if you don't and have a bad season or injury the offer may never come again.

So have the specifics been released?  How long is he away for and is it $1.5m he's getting?  How much will the nix earn as a result?  Hoping it's a heap.

Nothing from the clubs or McKain, just conjecture.  From Aus 442 article (front page) and Saudi man who started the thread.

Could all be rubbish, but I'm running on the smoke -> fire theory.

if it was me I'd have said: "make it 1.5m per year, for 2 years". these saudis are loaded. not for long though. Apparently, when the oil runs out, Bolivia (I think) will be the world's superpower as it has huge amounts of lithium, which we'd have to use to power our stuff.

Radio Sport news said that McKain has come out and said there has been nothing confirmed, just preliminary discussions. Nothing signed just yet.

Also mentioned that we should get a transfer fee as a result, no figure though.

can't someone just find the guy, tip him out of his chair in front of the computer (he's too chubby to stand on his own) and bitch slap him?

Damn, hope the transfer fee is worth losing one of our standout players if this is true.

FFS - as much as I'm not happy about losing mckain, we will certainly enjoy having the extra cash and siggy can conver the spot on the field - I suppose.....will really need to find an amzing replacemrnt - that is if 442 and some random saudi reporter can be believed

An amazing replacement? Is 1.5million enough for Ryan Nelsen? ;)

If this is true there's no reason to believe a select few Aussie haters saying the latest exits are people jumping from a sinking ship?

A few extra bucks to spend on Simon Elliot methinks.

oh lord It's only 1.5 m  !! it's the lowest budget for a slugging average team playing in the B division here !! anyway.. i hope you see the best in this transfer fee..but i can tell you you could sell him for WAY much more if you have better negotiators

PS..from today, I'm a fan of the nix ( a pleasure of mine)..i'll give you guys all the player's updates when he arrives here..and more..

I think that is his contract/salary, not what the transfer is worth.

I hope Ricki manages to coax Vicelich down.  After being in the international environment and working with Ricki and the Nix boys he may be keen to give up his having to be in Auckland thing.  I would accept him as cheap cover.  Dura, Vicelich and Siggy = :)

Allegedly when he came back he wanted to live in Auckland and play here but clearly not a goer.

Nah. Keep Siggy and have Wintson Reid as well.  Cancel his passport once he gets back from the world cup so he cant leave.

That's what I'm alluding too, meaning after being around the guys and playing in such an event it may get the drive back for him and he may move down if talked to nicely

That's the kind of shonky arrangement the Knights might have allowed to happen. I'm OK with the Phoenix sticking by their guns - it's a fully professional environment and the players should be living here for all sorts of reasons.

At the same time, with the recent upsurge in all things Phoenix and football is it possible that Vicelich could yet be convinced that a couple of years in Wellington would be a great way to cap off his career?

Do I remember right that Danny Hay made the same kind of demands?

Pullover whose eyes?

Would be good to stitch up a deal with Vicelich.  Ivan idea that would be so cunning you could call it a weasel..

On a Hypothetical note, should it have been Marco Rojas joining the Saudi's under similar circumstances on a similar deal would the Yellow Fever benefit from this in any way?

Is there a"Finders Keepers" clause in Marco's contract?

It's weasily seen that Vicelich is stoatally not good enough for the Nix. Ferrit to happen would be a disaster!

Having a vague idea of what Griffiths and Allsopp went to Saudi for it will be interesting to see how the club leadership have got us for McKain.

Always concerned when I see the name Rallis involved.

they didnt find him.... if that was the case every previous junior club and coach of every player in the world would be pretty rich right about now.
