This! SO MUCH!

Not quite sure where this is coming from. This result tonight and the 85 mins at Brisbane are the only two away matches that we have looked like a pro side...which I think was Thompson's major point.

still chance of home semi too, the GC have a tough final few games, but they have to lose them all and we have to win our final two. Should beat NQF and Sydney will be tough but stil winnable and the coast play perth away after playing midweek and also have to face the two in form teams in CCM and the Roar

COYN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent result to say the least. We played very good for an away game (and against such a strong team) but we were a little bit lucky too. Rojas, Greeny, Ward, Vuko all did very well. However mark my words: Rojas will be playing regularly in the Premier League within 5 years.

That is a very big call for a player who has played 3-4 consecutive A league games.

And the other one we won

You have to put in perspective - most teams that come to Welly look sh*t because of the travel factor.. Works both ways.

I'm kind of disappointed we didn't push harder to keep Vuko. Love Pasty but he's getting on and will probably retire soon.

Can't remember the last time we had 3 great long range strikes like that in one game too

And yes Hearfield was very good too - saved a goal, possibly the game for us in the first half. Only had one brain fart and that was in the attacking third so it's forgivable.valeo2011-02-05 23:09:31

Agree on the keeper front, Valeo. I thought Reddy and now Vuko better than Paston. What it might be is that the Nix are one of the few clubs that have had genuine competition between keepers for 4 years - and perhaps contributed the standards remaining high?

Paul has every right to criticise their away form and their stake at a grand final. But to call them unproffesional isa huge blanket statement. You are attacking their attitude, leadership and character. Something we have plenty of.

Or Ricki could have a press conference and say: This is for the Wgtn fans and the players' partners, but not for certain people. you can suck it and keep on sucking...

Or something like that.

This so much.

Galekovich kept us out so many times. And a few close range efforts from greeny were very well saved.

Imagine if it was Ryan out there

Seriously though, very good teams come through when it matters and the Phoenix have done that. Full credit to Rikki for building a squad so that, as someone said upthread, without Ifill, Bertos, etc., we can still win and win when it matters. That is a true team, a champion team. Everyone showed great professionalism tonight. Special praise for Rojas who is, as we all know, bound for greater glory (no pun intended). And Vukovic is pure class and is, indeed, bound for glory. But it is games like this that light the fire that is the Phoenix. And at the risk of a derail, King Kenny rules and go the boys on Monday morning. YNWA.

Hey you bastards I'm still here.

Well, if amateur is a synonym for unprofessional, the only thing that could stand in the way of such an accusation for their away performances is that they got paid. So I can live with the description.

Awesome effort lads!! Unbelievable result.

The past is the past.Stats and your away record  mean f..all right now..Well done!
That will have sat a few experts on their butts and spoilt a few of the Aussie teams' best laid  plans, starting with Adelaide's quest for 2nd ending right there.
Would have paid good odds to those backing the Nix I reckon.

So Durante's off for the Sydney and Fury games.Wonder how Vince will be too.
Looks like Musa gets the call-up.Pressure's on now.Perfect environment to play like  the next Phoenix wonder kid.Who will fill in the extra spot on the bench then?

Improving,,on the up, a work in progress from Italiano and the Nix. Bring on the bathroom bling in '24! COYN!

Agreed. You can report and discuss on the 'away' situation, which is fine, we all know its an issue and that it needs work, and it would be nice if we could figure it out. But Tommy boy here had to take it a step further to borderline 'attacking'. Nobody at the Nix deserves to be called unprofessional, its just down right disrespectful to everyone whos made the club what it is, be it management, players or supporters.
