No no... I completely agree about the All Whites game. that was bullsh*t.

I'm talking about the 'Nix tonight.

The four minutes isn't an exact thing. They can't exactly show 4:29seconds. Also the ref can still add time during injury time. Also the ref will let chances play out rather than pull it up just as the ball is in the net.

Not always the case, eg, Graham Poll's notorious mind-melt when he blew for full time just as John Aloisi kicked in what would've been the winning goal against Croatia at WC 2006.

Anyway, back on topic....

Didn't this happen with the 'Nix 2 seasons ago? We had already lost the game and the ball was being kicked around in the penalty area after a corner (I think) and the ref called full time but then we scored?

This next bit may or may not be true... But I remember hearing that they counted the goal anyway?

Exactly - it was a mind melt. People complain about refs not using common sense, then complain when they stick to the letter of the law - they can't win.

Crowd of 10,971  which is awesome.....shame about the scrappy game, but we won with a fantastic goal.

Just shows what 3 games in a week does to players. And before anyone says they are professionals and in the UK they play 3 times a week no problems. In the UK they don't fly for 4+ hours and play a game in the tropics and then fly back. It was obvious the whole team was flat.

I reckon the sending off was a key part of the game....we were starting to flag and the jets were picking up the pace. They were gone after that.

Young Rojas showed why he needs another season in the A-League. He can expect to get double marked and he will have learnt from this experiance. Still even though he had an off night he still got an excellent assist and should have had two if Dmac had not missed a sitter.

Lets hope that we can play a lot better than that, because across the board we were poor.
We played a lot of the game with an extra player, but you would not know watching it. Stupid tackles from senior players-getting yellow cards,so were sitting on being sent off, all made for a rather 'lucky' win.
Newcastle were below us on the table, and were quite frankly never going to beat us at home.
If we want to make the top 6 then a 30% improvement is required. Two away games will test our resilience.

It was our 3rd game in a week ffs - even Brisbane weren't as good as normal against the Heart

We were quite obviously fatigued - players were cramping up with 15-20 to go - and I thought we did brilliantly to still get the winvaleo2011-01-30 19:51:41

I agree with some of your comments, but where did we fly(apart from Perth and Townsville)in the last week for 4hrs plus and play in the tropics?

I gotta say don't you love it when the Griffith's get themselves sent off like total idiots?!
Who gonna be next?
Adam?

I think Manny and Marco were great. Also, had we been a bit luckier and connected on those crosses that just weren't happening today, we wouldn't be complaining about the way we played - as we would have bagged 2-3 goals.
On the other hand the Jets played a decent game, and I really believe that had Mr Idiot non gotten himself sent off, they might have actually put one in the back of the net.

We still ran heaps and controlled the game for most of the 94'. Going forward we lacked that extra something, and discipline went out the window today with more than half the team getting yellows.

Yes, two matches. Puts a spanner in the works a little. Some will be happy for North to cover for Siggy. Muscat will be a huge loss.

Also Brown and Durante are on the brink too.

I hope not, because without those two, we don't have a chance.

so are both muscat and siggy out for the last 2 games?
I guess North --> Siggy
and Ward --> Manny
which means Greenie will start?

Especially Manny will be missed

I thought the cards reset in the new year or something?

After 21 games, the number of yellows needed for a suspension rises to 8, at which point the suspension is still 2 games.
Permalink Permalink
about 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
dont think it reset, just extended from 5 cards to 8. Are we sure its still a two match suspension? I was thinking it might be just 1 if you havnt served a suspension yet?

Not sure if mannys is his 8th? But if so, atleast its for the away games. Wouldnt mind a diego cameo if they are both out

not likely to get any points from next two games so maybe all right for Siggy and Manny to have break before the ;last one!..although one point from those two wouuld help.

You never know what can happen. Especially against Sydney and we need to get at least a draw from them 2 away games

We need four points at least. So a win against the Fury and an away draw.

I thought bertos was out till the end of the season? Wouldn't be surprised to see Ricky lining up this way

                   Vukovich
    Harfield     North   Durante    Lochy

   Ward        Lia       Brown      Rojas

                    Greenie
                           D-Mac

Crowther
Daniel

bit of a worry with lia and timmo also at risk

Flew to Queensland to play the Roar....Queensland = palmtrees + heat + humidity + crocodiles + mosquitoes + coconuts = tropics

Considering the constant tackles from behind and shirt pulling that the jets dished up,they were very soft cards given to us.

Still wondering what Griffiths said!

Allegedly
