apparently it now says TBC on the 'Nix site? Does this mean no Eden Park?

Why not also talk to the guy at New Bond St? He had up some football shirts before the RWC- including oddly enough one of Norway.

If the Kingslander and Neighbourhood are being, well, the Kingslander and Neighbourhood-

also for dodgy footy past we used to go to Bar Eden to watch the Phoenix 4 Carlsburgs for 20 or 25 I can't remember....the guy who was on the bar gave me some on a tab cos i BSd him it was my friend buying Carlsburgs that got us the first goal in the play off...Not flash, but have had enjoyable footy days there. Very close to the ground.

Specially Auckland train logistics!

Nah man- that's all crap- it's what happens when you try and move 200K people to downtown and another 60k to Eden Park when you haven't budgeted for that many.

Otherwise trains are ok... and Foxes didn't play the Phoenix the other day for me- they had boxing and the international league. Sky Sports Bar or whatever were champions.

Real shame that Neighbourhood are keen to take our money as it's the best sport for pre-drinks in the afternoon sun. (i.e. it's the only garden bar in that area at all).
I'm not entirely surprised that they are a bit averse to us though, they'll do a good trade on any sunny day and it's basically one long area so they can't fence us off from the regulars that don't want Football songs with their afternoon beers. (well, there is a inside/outside but they're both just open plan)

The Kingslander does have an upstairs room they could give us (last I checked) and I haven't been to the Clare Inn yet so can't offer any thoughts on that.
Bar Eden is a bit of a dive to be honest, distant forth option for me plus it's by the Clare Inn so same issue with not being as train friendly.

If we can't settle on an official venue, I'll be taking my crew to Neighbourhood and hoping there's not a blanket ban on yellow and black.

Got a response from Gary at the Kingslander:

"Hi Michael, what sort of function are you looking for? Numbers, timing, food etc?
We won't be closing the bar to the public for a private function, but we may be able to set aside an area for you to use.

Cheers,

Gary
027 462 7314"

Is anyone keen to set up a YF HQ at the Kingslander? It'll still be open to the public, but we should be able to get posters etc up, deck out the pub in black and yellow, and maybe songsheets for the match?

I'd need to know how many people are interested in meeting up at the K'lander before the game, and roughly what time we'd use the area

they said this to me

Hi Mike
As you say our location makes us a prime spot for all Eden Park goers, to the
extent where we don't really need to discount products for any match at Eden
Park as we hit capacity every time. I understand you have a large group that
would attend and we would expect to see some of them regardless, but we can't
really sacrifice much on a night where the business is guaranteed for us
anyway. The only consideration I would put to this would be to offer a special
early on in the day so that we will up early, perhaps a lunchtime special from
11am-2pm or something of the like. would this appeal to your group?
We have engaged the services of what is probably Aucklands best covers band for
after the game, The Silhouettes.
Look forward to hearing back
Cheers
Tom

11-2pm? that's pretty early.
I suppose it depends on just how special this special is?
Kickoff is 5:30, I was planning to be there maybe a couple hours earlier and then carry on after the match (where the covers band sounds pretty good).
If there's a decent crowd there I'd be up for a lunchtime special

Na cheers boss, but have sorted a sweet apartment for four of us. Will of course be getting rowdy on both nights though, and expect to see you likewise?

grrrr ticketek strikes again!
tried to exchange my benchwarmer voucher for a ticket to the eden park game at the local ticketek outlet in birkenhead, got told that it can only be exchanged at SkyCity...and they close at 5:00pm.
Now I have to figure out how to slip out of work early

A bit annoyed, I got my free ticket with my membership, but couldn't buy tickets for my friends next to me anywhere in the stadium, because of how the Nix have set up the ticket sales.

That's because with it likely to be a sellout they can't have people just sitting any-old-where...

Yea true, just being impatient.
A bit annoying that only the SkyCity branch of Ticketek is able to accept a Ticketek voucher though, seems silly.michaelme2011-11-04 12:19:50

It's the same down here, we can only get our free ticket from our season pass by going to the MFC Box Office.
