Been thinking about this and I have 2 questions. Assuming Siggy is one CB , who else as his partner? Griffiths?O MID.

Also , what to do with Lia and Manny. I assume Manny will go back to
RB and Lia to midfield. But with no Brown and a new CB partnership, would we better off using Manny as extra cover in front of the back 4 and keeping Lia at RB? Before you all laugh your nuts off  i know Lia didn't have a great game against Roar.  But it seems this is an exercise in making the most of resources and I wonder if Manny would be better off being Manny as a DM . Or , put another way , where will Lia do least harm and Manny most good?
Just idle thoughts-taking a break from racism

I reckon Ricki will go for as many people in familiar positions as possible, so Manny at RB, Lia to CM and bring in a CB from the squad.

Is Pasfield still in goal, can only hope he has a shocker.    Our record isn't that bad over CCM...

CCM have won 7, 2 were draws and we've won 6.  But I think we've lost 3 straight games against them.   We must move on from the Roar game and come back stronger than ever and this time play for LLoyd.

I feel like we have little chance of winning (captain and vice captain suspended, league leaders at away, questionable CB) unless we take the game to them, so maybe I would do this.
                     Paston
Lia        Siggy Griffiths    Lochead
                    Muscat
                           Smith
Leo        Sanchez               Daniel
                   Ifill
Not going to happen of course.
If it's going to be as close to status quo I guess it's this... (442, but I put what it actually looks like on the pitch, not on the team sheet).
                   Paston
Muscat      Siggy Griffiths   Lochead
                     Smith
Leo        Lia                   Sanchez
                      Greenie
                    Ifill (roaming)CloneMM2012-02-14 00:54:48

   For me:

                      Paston
Lia       SigmUnd        Muscat        Lochhead
                        Smith
Bertos            Sanchez          Daniel
               Ifill            Greenacre

Only risk there is Manny but he can play anywhere. Lia isnt a great option but would prefer this to griffiths. Lindsay could have been in with a sniff.

I like that Brown is out cause it means Sanchez goes central, but if Daniel doesnt play then maybe not!

SigmUnd fit for crucial Mariners game"Herbert must now shuffle the pack and prepare for the match of the round when first hosts third. Manny Muscat is back from his one-match suspension and will slot in at right back, allowing Vince Lia to move centrally and partner SigmUnd.

In the other enforced change, Daniel, who played off the bench against the Roar, could start as Herbert attempts to cover Brown's absence in midfield.

Other key games in the play-off race include the Roar at home to Melbourne Victory and Newcastle's trip to Perth."

Lia at CB gives me the sh*ts big time.

Surely we have to play Lia in midfield, and one of the squad players (Griffiths?) at CB?

Is Griffiths even back from his trip to China?
Hope Daniels inclusion sees Sanchez get pushed central

I hop Browns exclusion means Sanchez gets his position.
No offense to Brown but I have very good feelings about placing our creative central player in a creative central role, behind the striker.
Play maker instead of holding mid-field/3rd striker.
Only good thing to come out of that game.

Wrong Griffith Herbertimo.

Brett Griggith was in china early in the year, but has returned.

Wouldn't mind this, would be throwing Lindsay in the deep end a bit though up against Rose.

        Pasty

     Siggy   Muscat
Lindsay           Lochhead

       Lia   Smith
Bertos Sanchez   Ifill

        Greenacre
You know we belong together...

RH will play this by the sound of it

               Paston

Manny  Siggy   Lia   Lochy

                Smith
Leo                          Daniel
      Greenie    Sanchez

                  Ifill

Man i'm so nervous about Lia at CB...away from home...and if we get another hopeless ref i see at least one penalty against us...

Would anyone feel safer with a back 3 and a more powerful midfield?
        Paston

   Manny Siggy   Lochy

     Lia     Smith
Leo                   Daniel
    Greenie    Sanchez

          Ifill
Its more natural but I guess we'll get Lia at CB.
Manny and Lochy will have to push higher into midfield if we are going to control it, while simultaneously not getting exposed in the corners.

3 at the back reminds me of season 1

nasty memories (so nasty that I've blotted out some of the pain and so I'm not 100% sure if it was season one or two )

Also, 3 at the back with 1 CB and 2 fullbacks is something that I don't think would be to effective.

epic fail as the kids say against roar. yes not only that 3 at the back sh*t but playing the roar like we did in round 6 rather than round 10 proved to be the difference. i hope he doesnt play lia there again

downey should play right back, griffiths at CB, muscat filling in for brown
