So we follow up our first home defeat in a while with our first away win in a while. I guess I can handle that.

It's funny how there is noticeably less activity on the forums after we win vs. when we lost last week.

Well, the team needed to come out with a win, and make a statement that they'd learnt a lesson from Wednesday.

Thankfully last night, they didn't pack it in for the last 20 minutes, and allow Perth a goal.

Great work from Paston, MoM for me.

Tim Brown got another stupid yellow card, for kicking the ball away. It's a bad habit he needs to get rid of.
Those brain explosions add up over a season, meaning he'll miss a game at some point because of it.

Ifill looked a bit better, had some great chances, could still do more work getting the ball back/defending though.

Good to see McAllister get a run, but thought he fluffed a chance. Rojas given injury time to stretch his legs.
Daniel showed some great touches, especially controlling a bullet pass up the line from Muscat. He fluffed a chance also.

Wonder if we'll see McAllister in the squad Saturday. I hope Ricki will settle on a line-up (perhaps change Rojas for Pav) for a few weeks.Ard Righ2010-11-08 12:12:26

Funny, I'm the opposite. I avoid these forums after we lose.

Ifill could a played a lot better I rekon, bad move to take off greenacre for Daniel, I think Ifill should have gone off. Would have liked to see some more of Rojas aswell!

I think Ifill is coming back into form over the last two games.  He had two good chances, but they weren't "easy".

That and coupled with Brown and Lia being quite noticeable in the midfield and North actully playing a good RB role gives cause for optimism.

It wasa scrappy game however and if we were playing Roar or Cakes...

Shouldn't be that surprised, their Coach wasn't exactly noted for his creativity and silky skills during his playing days

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Hopefully we can stick with a settled lineup for a while now. Just less McAllister and more Pavlovic please (and Rojas).

So happy to see Burns sent off.  Only this season did I begin to realize just how horrid a little man he is.  Browns strike was simply lovely.

And I never noticed before but there was one shot in the game of Ricki and he had an absolutely massive gut.  Must've only recently put it on as I've never noticed it before.  Not that it matters, just saying!

I was told by one of the phoenix players (naming no names) that he hated Burns. For obvious reasons.

Ah what a feeling!!!!
Singing Wellington is wonderful at the Glory home ground. Priceless.
To the other 4 Phoenix supporters I came across thanks for a great afternoon.
For 10 years I have being suppoorting Kiwi sides (Football Kingz, NZK and WP) playing in Perth, this is only the second time I have being involved in a win.
The game might not have been enjoyable to watch on TV but as a nix supporter at the ground it was full of drama( for me anyway).
After coming off a mid week loss then producing a win in Perth is a fantastic result.
Well done to the players on a great result.
One very happy kiwi in Perth.

Just a fun fact (which I certainly hope is correct).  The 3 points for this win meant that the Phoenix have now gained over 100 A-League points (101 now).  20 points in our first season + 26 in second + 40 in third + our current 15.

Good 3 points but lets not get carried away - Perth were utterly woeful.

We need to back it up with a win this weekend, or we're straight back to square one.

Yeah - said the same a while back. Just so happens that most away games are losses, so..

When Brown scored, my son and I just sat there like stunned mullets and didnt say a word for the next 30 seconds or so!  Not a game to be late sitting down for...good game to go to bed tho at half time...

A small town in Europe........looking to bounce straight back up....well that aint going to happen

I noticed that too, woah mama. Mind you Television is cruel, makes people look a lot heavier than they are.

Maybe in the post world cup euphoria he and Mrs H have decided to have another little Ricki? Would be about 5 months now - showing a bit early perhaps.

Siggy had a good go at fowler in front of the shed after robbie went down looking for a penalty!

Great tackle that. The one on Sterjovski in the first half was better, although unfortunately he didn't break Sterjovski's leg in the process.

A win is a win is a win.

Hardly vintage stuff, but it took us back to last year, where we turned in more of these dogged defensive displays in Australia.

The win could set the wheels in motion...perhaps.

Yeah we noticed this as well - that polo that Rick was wearing really wasn't that flattering.

Nothing wrong with a bit of a puku though!

huge turnaround in attitude and effort.  looked really good in the first half, but didn't seem interested in attacking in the second.  fair enough, it was an away day and the aussie teams do the same to us here.

wasn't siggy awesome this week?! looked like a rock with some crazy challenges thrown in for good measure.  durra classy too, as was north and elliott.

brown disappeared after his yellow card, but showed signs of improvement.

perth were as woeful as their support (what's with that 90's styled goal kick chant?!)

even Perth Glory fans HATE burns. They say he's a sh*t player and the only thing he's good at doing is getting red cards.
Fair enough says I.

Great to see the lads dig deep and hold on to the win. 3 points away especially in Perth is a great result.

TBH Perth are a shiite team. We will have to lift to another level against CCM this weekend. Still there will be much more confidence around the squad at training this week.

Good things about the game......Tim's strike was an absolute beauty. Clean sheet is a huge improvement after shipping seven goals in 2 matches. Well done Paston though there were several wobbly moments with the rest of the lads.
We fielded a settle team which does make a difference.

Ifill did not score but is looking more and more dangerous each game. It will all click for him soon and he good be in for a goal fest.

Elliot is starting to find his rythm....its still not quiet there but he's starting to do some good stuff.

I think he'd be a decent player if he wasn't such an idiot.

I remember hearing this and thinking WTF. There were a few other calls from the crowd. Like when the ball went out and the ref awarded it to the 'Nix you could hear a fan go absolute nuts. And hear it crystal clear.

eh, its what happens when the crowds been singing it since the 90's. LOL

Well Done Nux, it was probably one of the mildest days Wellington has faced in Perth so far over the past few seasons.

Hopefully Ferguson and the rest of the players have fd off by next season.
