Give Daniel a run and start Sigmund over Muscat. Apart from that, team can stay the same.

Queensland will be tough. They have one of the best passing games in the A-League and will definitely dominate possession. We will just have to hope we can sneak a goal and hold on. They Roar have been bad at home, but there's not much reason for that that I can see...although their supporters are pretty average!

Is Charlie Miller starting for the Roar? I assume he's still out... which would be a bonus!

Daniel always brings life to a game, look at Perth, it was boring untill Daniel came on and set up the first goal and against an in form Queensland team who we have like never beaten, we need Daniel to start and create oppotunities.

Yeah, but the opposition was tired by then which made it easier for him. He barely ever lasts more than 70 mins fitness-wise so maybe it is better to bring him on later?

No Charlie's out, he had the hernia op and won't be back for a month or so.

Pity no Costa for us.

You seemed to understand with the first part and then lost the plot at the end.
No one seems to get it do they??????
Daniel doesn't make a difference at the start of a game and can't last. He comes on in the 70th when there's space and creates.
Do you just might think here that Ricki is very astute and knows how the heck to use his players properly? All these Ricki bashers at the start have gone quiet because we've found our strengths and are playing to them nicely. Why go and f**k that all up? Sure one or two performers get a crack here and there and there is competition at the back but the core and the strategies are in place. You don't take away Daniels strength by doing the opposite with him. I for one was wanting him to start in the first half of the season, but I get it now.

Sorry Stop Out, I can see Ricki starting Hearfield or Kwasnik before Daniel because both can be dragged when they can't cope, Daniel can then do his thing. It just doesn't work the other way around.

....Now watch Ricki start Daniel

I reckon that if Kwasnik redeems himself this game he would find himself in the startiing XI

What are you basing this on? I'm not disagreeing but I just find it hard to see where your coming from when this season Daniel has hardly been given a chance apart from when we were sh*t and last season when he led the team in assists and scored 4 goals.

That list of people who have figured out how to use our players properly includes Ricki - think Dodd playing DM, McKain, Sigmund, Manny ....

Important thing is we have figured it out and now have a team playing to their strengths and abilities.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

It comes from Daniel not performing to his best this year early on in the season when he started then got dragged when he's spent. It comes from Daniel being a sub for the past 8-9 games and kicking some opposition ass when he comes on in the 70th. Other than that, just a guess

Just a guess. Obviously the team knows better than us on his state so we just have to go with that.

I would rather see Draper before Costa again, Costa has been given a shot. Lets see Drapes get a go.

Costa's name gets thrown around a heap just because he's from Wellington, but I see nothing to suggest he's better than Draper.

Well last year Draper got on a few times and did nothing. Costa did look quite good against CCM.

I remember Draper also played against CCM (in the same game as Costa) and he did quite well, coming very close to scoring.

Costa missed an open goal in the first 10 against CCM, Draper got some time against Melbourne and looked alright

Wasting time and space talking about them. We're at the business end. If they didn't play in the debacle that was the first 5-6 games then they won't play now

No point playing them when we are doing pretty well with the current squad (unless we were top of the table by a mile) valeo2008-12-26 19:40:56

It doesent mean costa isnt good enough.

I'd like to see both of them (on different games) try to partner Smeltz

No one is saying that Stefan..

Torne, there is only 6 games left ffs. No time to start experimenting.

He implied it.
but i agree.. this no time to start experementing torne.
The aim now is to make top 4.
Not to start mucking about with drapes and costa.
they should be setting their sights on next year.

too late in the season to be experimenting now..not much game experience between em maybe next year

yea, I agree. costa and draper and both great footballers, but to experiment with them now at this end of the season would be mad. theyve hardly played yet and to mix things up would be stupid. perhaps if we fall out of finals contention completely sure they'll get their chance, but for now while the goings good I reckon stick to what we have.

Was that not the stated (by Ricki) aim at the start of the season?

If Costa and Draper are great players, what words are left to describe (the footballing talents of a) of a Wayne Rooney or Ronaldinho? Super-great? Super-duper-great?

Let's stay in the reality zone. Costa and Draper are at best potentially good players.

Im very nervous about tomorrows game. I honestly cant see a win.
