Bertos is a winger, he showed that on the weekeed.
Would go with a 4-1-3-1-1

Daniel in for Hearfield, otherwise the same (unless Siggy is back).

Hoping Siggy's back, and Daniel is fully fit. Any news on either of them? Would also like to hear how Paston's coming along.

                         Durante          Siggy/Dodd

                                        Daniel
              Bertos
                                  Smeltz

Pretty much what I think most people are hoping for, I'd then have Higgins, Christie, Hearfield and Kwasnik on the bench, or maybe Costa or Drape if they're ready to come back in after the U20 quals

It would be suicide to drop any of the midfield trio, Queensland have arguably the best central midfield in the league and to have less than 3 players in the center of the park (ie Daniel in for Ferrante) would see us get murdered.

Make no mistake, other than Adelaide going away to Queensland will be the toughest trip we could make in the league. Queensland have a fantastic, hardworking midfield and a huge amount of pace down the flanks and up front. They have a history of punishing us, particularly on the break and down the wins and if we can get any result we will have done well. Offer me the most dour 0 - 0 of all time and I would break your hand off to accept. I believe that Miller is out so that will certainly help, but we will need to be on top form for this game, as a loss could really hurt our finals prospects, while a draw should at least keep us in touching distance.

My formation:

Moss (Paston if fit)

Muscat Sigmund (if fit) Durante Lochhead
Brown Mckain Ferrante
Bertos Daniel
Smeltz

Bench:
Higgins (Moss if Paston is fit)
Dodd
Christie
Hearfield

I'd choose a defensive bench so that if we nick a goal or are getting pummled but have yet to concede we have the option of sticking an extra central midfielder (Christie) or Dodd in for Daniel. Very negative I know but frankly I think a draw would be a stunning result here.

You've gone off Hearfield in 2 days? This from the guy that gave him a 7 and said he was one of our best.

I can't see Daniel starting a game while he has the effect he has as supersub. I've said that before, but Ricki likes to suprise. That means any one of Troy, Daniel or even Kwasimodo could start. The rest are all safe. I'd assume Siggy is back and Dodd doesn't travel

I'm easily convinced, lol. Actually I was thinking along the same lines as KTBW, our midfield needs to be strong, definately want him on the bench on, purely for energy

I'll let you guys figure out the formation - all I will say is the Roar midfield has run over us every game this season.

We have to find a formation, line-up and strategy (e.g. stick ? on their play maker) to shut them down in the middle of the park. I think Charlie Millar is out for a few games (?) If correct that will help.

Delighted to say I will be there shouting myself horse.

Daniel will just do those predictable back heels. Ricki isn't a man to make changes, he will stick with a winning team.

Would love to see Tim Brown sort out Danny "By a nose" Tiatto.

Almost, but no. Just caught it, and in that time i realised that Hearfield has lots of energy, and with someone like Daniel to pass to he would be very good!

We always struggle against the Roar. Dropping Ferrante, Brown or McKain is not an option. Daniel for Hearfield will probably be the only possible change.

tbh I'd try and pack midfield and hope for a point. 4-5-1 with Bertos on the right wing, Daniel on the left.

He didn't pass to one of our players all night. Daniel won't help him

Hearfield has heaps of energy- sure, does he do anything but lose the ball when he gets it - no!!!!

Every time he got the ball he simply didn't look like he knew what to do with it. I don't think its the midfields fault for not getting the ball to him in better spots, its simplyhis lack of vision to see where the next pass o shot is!

I wouldn't write him off because of one average game. I would still prefer Daniel to start, however, as I believe he offers a lot more on the left.

What about when he came off the bench and scored + set up a goal?

You mean when he hit the "blind" cross (he didn't look and Smeltz did all the work), or when the ball hit him in the shins and went in? He did get there to his credit

The winning/losing of this game will be in the midfield...if we can boss them midfield we are in with a chance. A point would be OK. hard to see Ricki making any changes. I agree Hearfield lacks composure/vision on attack but I suspect Ricki will start him again coz he has a high work rate on defense. Whether Daniel starting would offer the same workrate is debatible. Tough away game I think Hearfield will get the nod. I would start Daniel at home next time against the jets.

I'm with you Royal, Hearfield's goal was pure luck, he was in the right place and smeltz kicked the ball at him! he's lost the ball every other time he's had a chance to look up and pass or shoot!

Why does everyone want Dodd out?? Am I the only person who thought he was absolutely superb against the Mariners?

But yeah, I'd go for more or less the same team, and like most people, swap Hearfield for Daniel.

my view is as follows:

Would love to see Siggy back for Dodd. Dodd played well and he's a decent CB but I rate Siggy better.
Plus would love to see Hearfield grab some bench. Whether Ricky plays Daniel (to thicken the midfield) and plays with one striker, or whether he plays Coveny or Kwasnik for Hearfield (thus playing with 2 strikers) , I do not care.

Fair enough. Siggy is quality, for sure. I just love the heart Dodd has. I'd have him in my team everytime, especially if we have our backs to the wall. Also, he has a pretty good long ball, too.

my opinion of Dodd has really grown this year. I used to rate him really bad, but I think he's a good CB. You can really tell that he tries hard every time. But his touch is shocking for A-League standards. He just can't pass. Long balls are OK, but everytime someone passes it back to him my heart stops for a few seconds. Also, I think that sometimes he drifts away and kinda looses track of what's going on around him.

Siggy has all the things that Dodd lacks. So I'm happy to have both in my team, provided that Dodd is the back-up.
