The penalty was nonsense but payback for that Brosque atrocity at Palmy last year.

Nothing ugly about that last goal

Good game, very happy with that. Keep building on that and we'll have a good season. Like I said at the time  - Ward, inspired signing

um not overly? in fact, not at all.  assist for the goal not bad, apart from that bugger all.

Lets wait a few games 'til we say he is a good signing, we've had many players score screamers then fade to ridiculed obscurity. But he was very good today, good signs.

i got worried when we started to sing "Sydney, what's the score?" at 1-0 with 40 odd minutes left on the clock.

Bloody Fred de Jong, as soon as he said "Sydeney are lacking spark up front" I knew something was going to happen... 10 seconds later they score. Then he said it at the end right as that ball was hovering around the penalty box and they nearly scored but Sigmund got a good block in.

Aside from Wardy's goal, I thought that was one of the most boring games of football I've ever seen.

Yes of course commentators say one thing and the other happens, it is if the players on the pitch hear it and react accordingly..............not

We were shiite first half.....second half much better. We waste lots of possession by longballing it out of defense. When you have one small striker, whats the point? We look much better when we play it out and try and build from the back.

On the positive side....well played Nicky Ward. Not everything he did worked but he did a lot of very good work, especially down the left hand side. Very positive with the ball, passes well(mostly) and has good vision. Him and Bertos combined nicely. Cracker goal too!!! Welcome to the Nix Mr Ward....we hope you have a long stay.

I really like the Brown, Muscat Ward combination. It looks like it could develop nicely. Still not sure on Ifill, Greenie and Bertos combo up front. They don't seem to combine as well.

yeh agree...see how he goes once he settles in. If he can continue to contribute as effectively it'll be great. Lia to pressure Manny and Timmo.

If only we had strikers who were so effective. Be interesting to see where to from here for McCallister and for Hearfield. We need Manny in Mids IMO, and Hearfield looks like he is starting to find some attacking form- but he always looks like that...and at perhaps at fault for the goal?

Win...3 points...a win over Sydney after five very painful losses to them in a row...we'll take it!

Ifill, Elrich, Dadi and Ward have all scored on their home debut for the Phoenix!!

Yeh you feel the combinations are starting to click...almost there...Muscat Ward and Brown has two goal scorers and a good mix of attack and defence (fingers crossed) with lia waiting to cover. Lia to right back?? He was guna a season or two back- bit of a reaction, but hey...

Up front and out wide: we got the choices from Pav, Toto, Bertos, Daniel, Greenie, Ifill, McCallister

Or could drop in another player maker into the midfield with Ward- say Toto- and have Ifill and Greenie up front...

Thought that Greenie provided the impetus in that 2nd half with his pressing

Agree thought Greenacre had a top game, if not the best player on the park wasn't far from it.

Good to see Bertos back using his pace. Ifill looked more dangerous than he has before.
