Haven't seen much posted on it so I thought I would attempt to organise a meeting place before the game. The closest bar by far is the Speights Ale House at Tower Junction. Its about a 5 minute walk to the stadium from there.

Pretty map here:

The place opens at 11am

Full menu here with the beer selection on the last page

Also a number for bars in Lincoln Road heading towards town (on the map the right of Whiteleigh Ave near Clarence St South).

Me and a couple of mates will be at the ale house pre and post match.  Am actively recruiting anyone else keen to come too.

Good to see ticketek are selling Yellow Fever fanzone tickets, anyone know which stand they are in?

Remind me later in the week, and we'll give them a call to see if we can sort of some kinda deal.

Fox and Ferrit doing pint/food/bus deal. F&F is at the Palms Shirley.

cannot insert link but looks like $40.00

I reckon Futsel is off to get more along. Hopefully all the rep photo's are dusted by then too.

Anyone know how the ticket sales are going for the game?

I know that the yellow fever zone sold our before I even knew that the tickets were on sale. They expanded the zone soon after so that more tickets are now available. So judging by that, I don't think that they're going badly!

A whole group of us are coming along, a couple are even trekking from Auckland! I'm looking forward to this!!

Anyone from chch know what the bar/club stuation is down there.  Is there a hub, or is it pretty spread out?

Speights Ale House at Tower Junction would have to be the prime meeting point.  There are bars nearby along Lincoln road but I'm not too familiar with them and they would definitely be smaller than the Ale House.

If you are wanting to go clubbing on sat night or whatever, your best bet is just going down Riccarton road. A few pubs convert into average clubs at night. Most places are closed around 2 am though.

Finally got tickets sorted for this game. Bought 13 of them today

As for bars and clubs. I'd say riccarton or addington would be your best bets but tbh they are pretty average

Got my tickets. Group of 10 of us, including Ankit, Siri and some other welly boys heading down. I think Speights Ale House is the kaupapa. See you all there! Fire it up farken!

my Wife is presently making an appropriate banner. Think there is 30 of us in our group. Futsel is off, so hoping there is a sell-out, if so we should get official games here eh.

Does anyone know if Radio Sport will be doing commentary, I know they did the Dunedin pre-season game last year but that could have been a special one considering it was the first match to be played at Forsythbarr.

I've also realised the 23rd of September will be the 1 year anniversary of Welnix taking over.  Time flies.  Thanks again Welnix for saving our club.  Here's to many more anniversaries.

Doubt that there will be any commentary. Looking forwrad to having the nix back in town and seing Stein play

West Sydney have some aleague regulars in their squad - Topor-Stanley, Shannon Cole, Elrich, Bridge.

Coached by ex SFC defender Tony Popovic,

I'll be there, with a couple of bros from the old home town.  Looking forward to it, but hope there aren't fever zone etiquette issues.  Often can be in out of town dos.

Bring it on (the match that is, not any 'sit down yer prick, ya blocking mum's view' stuff)

I know, I know, its serious!

Is there much advertising for the game in Christchurch.  Tickets are pretty cheap.

Permalink Permalink

I didn't realise that the Silver Ferns play Aussie in ChCh the same night. I know a couple people going down for that, I told them to go watch the Nix as well.

Some advertising is being done through the newspaper and I have hardly noticed anymore being done else where, so it would be interesting if we can get a full house on Sunday.

It's been on the radio a bit too.

Ok ok... Fly from Melbourne to Christchurch to watch the game.. must say totally worth it. Should I pre order my tickets now or buy on game day??

Permalink Permalink

preorder would be a good idea but getting them on the day is fine, it will be slow and people have been advised to pre order anyway

Permalink Permalink

Sweet thanks, I might pre-order. Better safe then sorry. Its a shame that it hasn't been advertised and promoted that much. My last live game for Phoenix... :(

Fever Zone is North stand. I've got my tickets for Aisle 8, which is on the half way mark.

I was able to choose my seats. How did you book them? Ordering over the phone or visiting a branch is the best way to get tickets if you prefer certain seating arrangements. Give Ticketek a ring again and see if they can swap your tickets for the seats you want. FZ is Aisle 8 (could be more more aisles), North stand.

Not sure what the parking at the venue is like but Tower Junction has heaps of parks and is just a 5minute walk away.

There is a carpark there that is shared by AMI Stadium, the CBS arena and Addington Raceway, apparently there is a game of netball on at CBS that night, not sure if that means the carpark will be available or not.  When the Crusaders are playing the carpark is reserved for officials and corporate box people.  There is parking at Tower Junction but bear in mind the shops will be open so I wouldn't count on getting an easy park there either.

I guess what I'm saying is, allow plenty of time for finding a car park.

North Stand is definitely better than the South. You will have the greatest chance of being in the sun and the seating arrangement is less cramped.

The Ticketek website says there will be parking available at CBS Arena (right next door) for $5 upon entry.

PAX was 3702 on the evening of 18 September.
