Would Solorzano be an option for the much needed striker during the transfer window. Can't recall the last time he got on the park for the Victory

Manny chant:

Oh Manny boy
The nix, the nix are calling

From Hutt to Bay
And down in Rongatai

The game is on
And all the chips have fallen

It's you it's you
On who we can rely!

I thought that was due to the "embarrassment of riches" they signed in those positions :)

heard Ricki on radio this afternoon stating i)guest stint signings could disrupt the squad ii) he will be recruiting before next season

on that basis, I'm not expecting a lot (i.e. nothing) in this window

Re-sign Manny chant:

If you're lost, you can look, but stay in Welly
Manny re-sign...

If you fall, we will catch you, Fever are waiting
Manny re-sign

Or....

Manny don't say goodbye
Cause we still need you
Cause we still need you
Cause we still need you!goldienz2012-01-07 22:03:29

I got the feeling that he didnt actually create a lot of chances himself and was instead given a lot of balls into the box to finish, like Berisha was doing at the start of the season. But once he moved to victory, they needed him to be making chances of their own like Archie because their midfield just isnt providing enough chances

I can finish a cheese sandwich in a breathless moment.

Mmmmmm. Cheese.

I made a stunning French Onion Soup tonight but realised I had no bread appropriate for Gruyere covered croutons on top.  Had to go without the cheese.

I cried.

Not sure yet. But definitely skipping the Bencher, want to see as much of the Saints game as I can before going to RoF.

If they're willing to organise this for me, I may be interested.

Jesus I'm standing nowhere near you at the BackBencher then.

I thought Vickmeist's homemade stew was fart-provoking, but onion soup surely pushes it to gas mark 6?

Muscat re-signing imminent?
https://au.fourfourtwo.com/news/228167,muscat--phoenix-in-contract-talks.aspx

"He's very keen to stay at the club and that's a massive positive for us. But there is still a little bit of work to go around the contract."

Muscat confirmed there had been interest from "clubs back home in Melbourne" but added: "The Phoenix is always first priority. They've been here for me from day one. I'm going to give them everything I can to see if everything works out and I can sign.

"I've been talking to the club and it's promising. It's good that (Ifill and Durante) have signed on. But I just have to weigh it up with my family now."

Hopefully the away games will bring points and redemption.

Just saw ryan nelsen and ricki herbert shaking hands at a cafe.

They then signed some pieces of paper and gareth morgan gave him an envelope full of cash!

They then went to the waterfront where there was a photoshoot of Nelsen holding up a nix shirt with his name on the back..

(Yes slow day at work)

I heard the same interview.  He gave the impression that there would be neither a guest signing nor any other squad additions in the Jan window.

pissed me off no end.

pretty much one or two fingers (take your pick) to the season members is how i saw it, and he knew it too with his comment that he wanted to assure the fans he'd be making some signings before the next season.  Yes, Ricki, just some of us thought you might get your arse into gear a little more quickly.

He has an opportunity to strengthen the side and, it would seem, the funding to do so, but he chooses to play happy families instead.  I'd be accepting if he said there were not any players available that he felt were good enough to have a look at in this window.  Even if he'd said he had not had time to do adequate scouting I may have felt that was reasonable, though best he gets a decent asst coach on board pronto and stop taking NZF extra jobs then.  But neither of those was what he said was stopping him.  No, he's worried about disrupting the squad.  Sorry mate but a decent striker signing might be just the sort of disruption it needs.

The poor laddy's had a tough off season last year, but I guess when you are on a multi year contract and no performance requirements, then there's no hurry ...

Methinks I'll think twice about renewing my inaugural season membership next year, unless he can show us he's about building a stronger club, not playing happy families with a bunch of over 30's.

bah, rant over

Mate, between this lack of action with any signings and the idiocy (imho and half the rest of the club it seems) of subbing daniel rather than bertos on sunday - and continually keeping the invisible man on - i am just about over RH.

I used to post supporting him, but I am finding I am increasingly not inclined that way.

Maybe harsh given the lack of back office support for Ricki, but that is NOT why he is saying he's not recruiting in this window.  Maybe he's fudging it, because he is living with the lack of an asst coach and the club management is on it's way out, in which case I could understand - as I said.  But if that is the case the club would be better to simply say that

Woudl have loved to see a Killen or even a Dadi (type) signing right now.

.
You tell 'im champ!!!
Love your passion and I must say I agree with you. If there is no one out there better than Pav and Leo then I would be surprised. Rickie did say they would look in the January window to strenghten the side...he has chosen not to. So now the buck stops with him. We have quite a few players who look jaded or out of form. Rickie reckons he can do the business with this squad.

He will be judged on the results at the seasons end. Lets hope its a good run in the playoffs.....otherwise he will be judged rather harshly me thinks!!!

judged on results?  yeh, you're right and he may prove me wrong, but he'll only be judged by the fans.  As Tegal seems not to have the wit or patience to pick up - one of the points is he has a long term contract with no performance requirements, so he keeps his job and NZF-on-the-side-perk-work regardless

hopefully once the board gets a few more football types involved Ricki won't have it all his own way
