I agree that the goal of breaking even is great, and I don't doubt for a second the collective skills and experience that the Nix Nine bring to the club.
I would just like the answer to a very simple question:
If, at the end of 5 years, the Nix Nine have not succeded in their goal to break-even, what will they do?
1) They may have a lot of money and can afford it if the Nix never makes them money, but they wouldn't have got into it without the goal of trying to turn it around. If that's their goal, of course he should be harping on about it. You don't go "maybe we'll do better next season". You say "let's do it now".
2) If they don't succeed after 5 years maybe they'll look at how far they were from succeeding. They've probably got a very good idea of how much money they're willing to sink into it, and if that line is crossed (be it in 5 years or whenever) they'll pull out. Like he said, they're not in it for the money, but they also can't be a part of a money sink indefinitely.
