It was screamingly obvious. But at the time I never graphed it or quantified it. I knew we had a lot, but to actually see the graph, especially to see out count relative to the median... it brings it home not just that we WERE crippled, but just HOW MUCH we were crippled. It validates and quantifies that vague feeling I had that it was bad...

That's no excuse for the Melb (Heart) City game we lost 0-5 with our best team on the park and at home. In some games we were just no there out right.

That graph is just those unavailable due to injuries, start of the season we had the players away with international duty as well.

That was a game where everything went right for Melbourne and nothing went right for us. Heart hit some screamers and we were just a bit of the pace. Definitely the exception.

That's a huge call from Fenton. Having been through this before, I guess he knows exactly what is involved both having the surgery (end of season) and not having the surgery (shoulder taped up and possibly popping again)

Prior to this, did he have any history of shoulder dislocations? It seems weird that both have done it so one can only assume its a birth defect or its happened before and they are just sloppy.

Yeah my understanding is, once they pop you can't stop...

To me it was balanced out by us thrashing Victory

Anyway, Doyle being back is a big plus I think with the players we've got away and Fenton out.

Thought I should chuck these graphs in.

Number of players unavailable after R11 compared to last year.

Permalink Permalink

And how we are tracking across the season so far.

number of matches missed because a player was unavailable (injured/suspended/etc). Cumulative.

Permalink Permalink

what is this last graph showing?

Total number of injuries year to date across the league by week, this year vs last year, I think.

So, comparing the number of games players are unavailable from last season to this one, after 11 games, they're quite alike.

Interesting.

Would be interesting to track that cumulative chart each week just for Nix, this year compared to last

Like this? This is just for injuries.

Cumulative number of matches missed because a player was injured.

Jeez we have had a lucky run this season. Looking at that, Adelaide have done very well and Sydney should stop whining about how many injuries theyve had.

I'll update my graph that tracks the two tonight. Most of ours occurred in the final 9 games.

Matt Ridenton out for a month with a knee injury according to the A-League Ins and Outs.

Done his MCL.

Games missed due to injury. Numbers are slightly higher than the PFA as they use data from the Ins & Outs press release so it doesn't include players who are injured after that is published each week.

so in round 27 we had 81 players out injured? Bet we lost that game.
