Good on you KC1.

Please excuse my flippant posts - it's what gets me by in the off-season (or when the nix play poorly, or when Spurs play poorly, or when the Toon... actually most of the time).

I think your stickers will work well for a certain market segment/demographic, so don't let us miserable b#stards hold you back.

As for us oldies - we use other methods - such as pestering our friends, posters and just good old plain intimidation to help generate interst in the Nix.  Whatever the approach just do it. (impossible is nothing etc etc etc)

There isn't going to be a .com.au or anything on the sticker, which is banking on the fact that people would just google it anyway.
This campaign in particular was going to be created by fans, organised by fans, and completely run by fans to show just how much we care about this league and want it to succeed. It's the fans that are the lifeblood of the clubs and the league as a whole, so why should we wait around for things to be organised for us? Some initiative to do things ourselves is being taken.

For me the stickers are pointing to the A-league website, which the FFA would be generating content for. It's not really fan driven at all in that respect and it seems to me they are just looking for cheap ways to get the "We Are Football" brand out there.

All well and good don't get me wrong, I just don't think it is what you say it is. If they were to create a fan experience, somewhere were fans could upload videos, photos, etc then for me that would be closer towards what you are talking about. If the fans really want to support the league, then you are better supporting and promoting your club, getting it more exposure to those out there who don't already go along to games.

It's just another empty slogan at the moment.

Here's a link for somebody if they want to get in touch with FFA and arrange some stickers!

Am getting ~150 stickers sent to me, I'll start putting them up around town when they get here
I'll try to find out when the club get theirs.

would've been better if FFA had individual club logos on these stickers for all club cities/towns.

Posting 'We are football' stickers around town doesn't excite me. Meh..

I wonder if the club will do those downloadable posters again? They were quite a good idea.

Forum severly lacks a facepalm emoticon.
That would defeat the purpose of the unity that this is trying to create.

Of which there are about 3. If you look for the negatives that's exactly what you're going to find, instead of all the people who actually like the Phoenix.

Maybe with the downloadable posters, Nix HQ could do some Nix orientated stickers sticker sheets as well?

I kind of like the idea of a "street team" like Threadless.com has, building awareness of the Nix and getting people along to games.

Probably exactly what some of us do anyway (was mentioned earlier), hitting up mates etc but in a more "official" way.

Stature and Substance are words that come to mind, though the point HN makes is still an apt one
The chorus from that "Phoenix Out" brigade is more subdued these days yes KiwiChick 1, but they inelegantly rear their heads now and then.

I'm for a repeat of the downloadable posters too  and a repeat of season one bumper stickers that retain their print quality to this day on cars around town.

A
" We went to a Wellington Phoenix game...and We Loved it!"
sticker campaign might be more effective     OR

How  about  our very own
"Wellington Phoenix.. Football so good, you can Yellow 'bout it!"
sticker campaign?

I was more suggesting dropping the whole "we are football" deal, maybe if it was stripey it could work. or the "one team, one dream" slogan they have up on the nix site.

"We are hoofball" also a good suggestion J82, until such time as we adopt a different playing style.

We Are Football is the slogan for this season, so I don't see why we should ditch it. But clearly if you think you know better...

Think there are two things here, marketing the league and marketing the nix. A byproduct of the We are football campaign is interest in the Nix, but it's purpose is to promote the league. None of the collateral for this campaign is specific to any one team (from what I have seen and heard about), it's all a bit generic.

If One dream, one team is the nix's catchcry for this season, it would be better using that with nix related material and not using the WAF slogan.

Both could go hand in hand but I think the real value is getting people on board with the Nix brand.

And yup, Christo knows best

The way I see it, promoting the league will promote the Nix. I personally reckon it'd be better to work with it, seeing as the ads for it are going to be on tv and everything.
If one team one dream is actually going to be promoted, then sure, I'd be happy to help out in any way I can, but I can't see that happening at the moment. Promotion in general is very poor.

No doubt about that KiwiChick1. A legacy of the previous lack of funding. That won't change overnight..2 weeks now? ...but will change soon.
Good on you for taking action and wanting to do something positive.

You have to be clever on how you use the money too, adshel vs billposter campaigns etc. But anything would be nice quite right.
