whether you think he should be starting or not, we all know he wont be. He'll be on the bench for the WSW away game. I, personally want him to be starting in the derby on the 21st but I suspect he'll be on the bench with an early-ish arrival in the 2nd half. He'll start with Sander against Adelaide on the 6th March.
He definitely should be able to start fitness wise, just depends if Chiefy thinks he understands how the team is trying to play and the role expected. Teague had only played 35 mins in Belgium and then started against Auckland a few days after he signed, and has started every game since then.

Why do we all know he won’t be starting?
He has to start.
6th of March?
You’re dreaming.
come on man be realistic, he may well be fit, but he hasnt been playing. Italiano isnt known for rushing players into the starting lineup. he arrived in Wellington on the weekend, will be training this week and travelling to sydney where he'll come off the bench for 20 or 30 mins. Even if he sets the world on fire he wont be starting against Auckland - even if I wish he would be.
edited sorry - I missed the game on the 1st in my initial blurb. WSW away - Friday 13th - Singh subs on AFC home - Saturday 21st - Singh Subs Sydney home - Sunday 1st March - Singh starts
Point still stands is he's not starting this weekend or next.

I fully accept that his minutes will depend on factors we don't know about. My main concern is whether there will be enough time to work out on-pitch understanding between key players like Singh and Eze and Kartum. This instinctive familiarity is what Perth has done so well, the passes from Wooton to Pennington are so instinctive they may as well be wearing black and yellow stripes.

Worth checking out Chiefy's post Victory press conference, makes some comments suggesting Singh might be rushed straight in, unlike how he usually slowly introduces players

If he’s here for game time, he’s going to want game time!
Maybe it’s been a sign I’ve been watching too much DnD, but a collection of forum personalities would make an excellent fantasy adventuring party to watch, in an alternative world…

indeed, who are you watching?
Various Viva La Dirt League games and their GM, Robert Hartley’s own games and Critical Role’s second campaign, The Mighty Nein.
I used to enjoy reading fantasy as a kid, but some of the campaigns are superlative in design and many, many of the participants are highly experienced and trained actors…the Azerim ones at Viva have a bit more comedy, so if you are wanting narrative drive more than banter and tangents the Twitch ones with Robert or Critical Role are slightly better there. And also the crit ones and main Azerim campaign were completed years ago so there’s plenty to binge.
The Viva ones also do a bit of visual stuff and green screen gags interspersed. The others have minis and maps at times, but listening while doing other things is fine.
I’m not an expert, but all the new TV and books I’ve tried of late have annoyed me by comparison. And we’ve finished the Umbrella Academy finally!
So Balane, yourself, APhoenix, Doloras, ImaNix, OiOi, Fenix, one of the dudes with that German striker in their avatar, various recurring guest characters starting with Feverish, Buffy and Dale…LG as the god of Thunder and/War.

nice, there are a good number of pro-actors in the game so to speak, there is a local amateur group that i was part of a few years back that are hilarious. called Getting Dicey - they stream via twitch you - you should check them out.

It’s all the game, player. 😄
(Do they end up on Spotify or YouTube or some such? Not This Could Get Dicey?) Sorry I keep editing which is a crappy way to continue a conversation. An hour of work avoided. Eh) YouTube! Found them. Cheers.
Singh should be given only one directive. "Beat Auckland !!"
Bit rough to throw that at him given they havnt done it before. Not sure i would be making a big deal out of it. They seem to be struggling to cope with a normal game without throwing more on with the derby. Is what it is will come eventually save it for the finals. 😁😜
Still, I am looking forward to how he will fit in and how the understanding of others around him will develop. He may provide better support not just for Eze but for Armiento, which would probably mean we still need a proper left fullback behind Armiento. Also, I have high hopes Singh and Sander Kartum will be at the same level of AM competence - it was sad seeing Sander running into spaces last week with nobody passing the ball early enough to him.

Any update on Singh's injury during the game? Ice on the knee isn't a good sign, doubt he makes the derby game.
8 weeks out. made of glass, waste of time bringing/rushing him back imo.
Did you say that when he was signed, or just triumphing your sage wisdom today post injury announcement.
It's a contact related match injury, that could have happened to anyone. Creative midfielders by nature can be smaller than most and yet prone to physical tackles.
Didn't miss any games in Serbia to injury from memory, and also had a pretty okay run last season in Portugal.
Thank god it's a MCL rather than ACL, and hopefully he can still play a few Nix matches before the WC. Also praise be Eli Just could possibly fill his boots well for the AWs. 12 months ago both were languishing in 2nd tier Euro football.
But of a disaster from the perspective of the man wanting to get ready for the Cup and from the club who’ve had 4 playmakers in 2 years lost to serious injury. The opposite kind of sign they’d want to be hanging in the window.

real shame for Singh, and us! comments about him being made of glass or referencing this injury to the fact we train at NZCIS are reaching, the injury came from the knee on knee contact during the game - only way to avoid that was not being on the field.

You do wonder about the Nixs bad luck. Its seems to haunt us. Ok all sides have injuries. But first half of the season we had up to eight players out injured. Josh was on fire early season and we were appearing to get a grip on the high line then he gets injured which means new tactics required. Plus we dont seem to get any penalty decisions going our way. Now its derby week and we lose two key AWs. FFS its tough being a Nix supporter

Was last season bad? I can't even remember tbh but we also had such a lack of depth a few injuries were very noticeable. Chiefys first season we had minimal injuries which showed with how well we did.
It'd be interesting to see how many times we had the same starting lineup that season compared to this season.

Our team is cursed, there is no other way to explain it. I was looking forward to seeing Singh. They said up to 8 weeks, perhaps it could be earlier??? You never know right, right??

So in summary for season 23/24 the Nix had a very fortunate injury run. Zawada the only real long term injury absentee.
Looking back it felt that way as well, so nice to know a 2 year old hazy memory aligns with the facts!
The Jets have 3 promising players all out long term with ACLs, yet they motoring along. Alex Badolato, Christian Bracco and Oscar Fryer. Not sure the Nix are cursed more than other teams. Though probably more than AFC, who have had few long term injuries since entering the league.
AFC have existed for less than 2 seasons, little bit difficult for them to have multiple season ending injuries in that time.
Somehow in that time period the Nix have managed 3-4, and as above the Jets have 3 guys all out long term this season, all doing their ACL.
For sure is some link between a team performing well, and being mostly injury free. Nix season 23/24 and AFC since birth. The Jets a current outlier, same Melb City last season who won the toilet seat despite lots of guys in the infirmary at various times.
But it's a salary capped league. Not even the biggest, most powerful clubs can carry huge squad depth.
