And quite a few of these 1-1, 0-0 results in fine weather.

Ahmad, very impressed with your enthusiasm and committment, but your obsession with the forecast makes me suspect you are

Ok weather fans, the new forecast is back to pure YELLOW!

Outlook continues to be YELLOW! The trend around Sunday looks good at the moment, which is about as much as can be drawn from a long-range forecast.

Checking back on the Nov 14 weather thread the initial prediction was for a chance of rain but a week out the forecast changed to "fine" and the forecast remained that way right up to the day.

They're such tight arses in Dunedin, I heard they tried to get the Invercargill council to put towards it.

MetVuw is pessimistic, Metservice is optimistic, and it doesn't matter anyway because the stadium is sold out!

The closer the isobars are together the more wind we will have etc etc

The isobars form layered rings on the weather map.The closer the layers of the rings are to eachother, the lower the air pressure in that area is. The further apart they are the higher the air pressure. The closer the isobars are, the stronger the wind is.

The air pressure is also depicted by letters. In an area where the isobars show that it has a high pressure, a 'H' will be in the the centre circle. If there is low air pressure there will be an 'L'.

Air pressure is the density of air molecules. High air pressure is heaps of air molecules close together. Low air pressure is when they are far apart. When the air pressure changes from high to low, wind is created. <!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Why does Wgton still get quite strong winds, especially in summer, when the isobars appear wide apart?  Is this to do with the topography ie. funnel effect of the Tararua Ranges & the Marlborough Sounds?

also the coloured area [pink/purple] indicates rain fall. something happened to the rain key when i posted that, it's meant to be up the side. irrelevant anyway, looks like no rain in wellington on sunday.

No one seems to have mentioned the stiffling power of anthroporphomegenic heat yet. An increase by 0.02 degrees celcius for every Nix goal scored, i should imagine.

Just BTW - is there such a thing as stale Southerlies - aren't they always "fresh"?

Dont want to be the party pooper  But..... If we have bad weather Sunday, regardless that all the tickets have been sold, you may find the grand total of 34,500 or more, maybe slightly less. People here tend to be a bit scared of a few showers etc, they will stay home. Just being honest, It would be a real shame to have bad weather and ruin a potetntial record crowd for a footnall match in New Zealand

LATEST METVUW forecast charts:

There's some nastiness there but they predicting Wellington may avoid it.
Lets hope they're right.
I'm picking similar conditions as the All Whites game - threatening to rain but doesn't ;)
