Kia ora,

The A-Leagues Club CEOs and APL Executive met in person on Monday to review the work that has been in development since early in the year on supporter consultation. The development process included benchmarking global best practice and consulting with local stakeholders to come up with the best model for Australasia, and everyone agreed to formalise the agreement that every club would commit to a formal Fan Representative Group.

This group will involve a cross-section of each club's fanbase for the Isuzu UTE A-League Men and Liberty A-League Women to ensure that fan voices can be heard and considered in decision making on key matters. A chair will be elected from this group to represent their club in the newly formed League Fan Representative Group and minutes from the group meetings will be shared between the Clubs and the League and published on official channels.

The Phoenix are committed to ensuring that your voices are involved in the issues that affect you, and work begins now to formalise our Fan Representative Group with representatives from across our fan base.

Next week we will be in touch with how to put your name forward to be considered to be part of the Wellington Phoenix Fan Representative Group. We hope that you will consider being part of this important and exciting new initiative!

I thought I would post this here just in case anyone who is interested didn't get sent the email.

Thanks for sharing RR.
I am assuming Active Supporter groups are the target market for this?
I'm keen to learn how they select someone to represent the fans.

They are but they also want a cross section of fans as Active Supporter groups dont represent the views of all fans.

Will they need a token Aussie Nix fan?

I kinda hope we have an Aussie based fan as part of it. They are an important part of our fan base that isn't always given enough recognition.

Someone who is heavily involved in the Little Corner of Yellow. Those people in that group should have won Fan of the year 2023 IMHO, they showed up everywhere in Australia.

Kia ora,

Following last week's email, applications are now open for dedicated fans to be a part of our Fan Representative Group, you can apply via the link below.

The Fan Representative Group (FRG) is a great opportunity for fans' voices to be heard. It is a chance to give valuable feedback, which will be considered in decision making in key matters at the Wellington Phoenix and A-Leagues. The Phoenix FRG will meet (online) at least three times a year for consultation. Minutes from the group meetings will be shared between the clubs and the league and published on official channels. One of the group members will also be elected as chair to represent the Nix in the newly formed League Fan Representative Group.

If this sounds like something you would like to get involved in, please submit your application statement (maximum 500 words) below to apply.

Submissions must be received by 4:00pm, Friday 12 May 2023.

No previous experience is necessary, but a passion for football and the Nix would be valuable. Applications open to all locations in NZ and Australia.

Ngā mihi nui,
Wellington Phoenix FC
I haven't included the link here for obvious reasons. If you want to apply & didn't get the email, probably best to get in contact with the Nix on Twitter or Facebook.

White smoke has been spotted above Phoenix Towers, so congrats to those selected in the FRB. Go fight the good fight vs the APL.

Interesting hearing none of the fever leadership were selected. Seems like some clear signals from the Nix as to what they are after. Just disappointing that they dont want to include their Active support group who I understand have put in a lot of personal time (and money) over the years for the nix to try and create a fan experience.

Yeah I'm quite surprised & disappointed that the Phoenix don't want YF involved in this.

Why can’t they have both?

Probably cos they hear plenty from the active fans thrugh a multitude of platforms and forums. I'm just guessing but maybe they are hoping to find a way of communication with the less vocal supporters and give them a space to say what they think will make things better - I got the invite email but wasnt prepared to put a 500 word submission in to ask for entry. Assuming that was the case for all invitees then the ones that got to go clearly had something the club wanted to discuss.

Slightly disagree Prof. if you are having a fan rep group you should try include as broad a base as possible including active and non active. Also bearing in mind this is the group that will be represented to the APL committee through the fan group initiative.

If what you say is the case I mean disappointing but I guess fair enough its their choice at the end of the day but maybe it would have been respectful to give them a heads up about what is happening and where they see the fevers involvement.

Yes, multiple representations are needed. Definitely at least one from YF. YF leadership should have been approached, and not have to apply.

This is pretty odd. Quite frankly quite poor.

I want to add, that we are a very nice fan base. And we go easy on the club. what could the problem be?

Could be a directive from the APL, as now they might be able to push through changes that the YF and all other active support groups would decline?

Are they “leadership” now? What happened to the “Elite”? Lol

did the YF officials ever respond to that article?

herald article was written before the dom post one?
but I assume there were multiple Burgess articles/posts that were equally irrelevant.

Obviously a pre-meditated and orchestrated campaign to waylay any suspicion. YF are clearly playing 4d chess.

(I think more likely stuff has changed the date on the article, the herald one links to that original stuff one so stuff probably stuffed up).

Was definitely after. Not sure what happened on the date of the Stuff one. Maybe it was edited later and it updates the date?

It's probably because the YF is a shady and nefarious organisation with an unknown membership and all the millions that they get from selling Retro Ricky tees are completely hidden. For all Wellington Phoenix knows, the YF are funding the Wagner group.

Are they not?  I bought my Rainbow Fever tee because I thought I was supporting an illegal militia group.

As surprised as anyone to have got accepted tbh.

Look forward to seeing what shape this thing has, at the minute it's a bit light on detail

Yes, very light on detail so far.  Hopefully we'll have an idea of how best to collate feedback, and where that feedback might go, once a first meeting of the group has been held.

Kia ora koutou.

Wee update on this front, we're collecting questions for a live Q&A session with Chiefy and Temps, to be part of the season launch which is currently being planned.  If you have a question you want included, post below or send a message to me or another of the reps.  Questions are also being collected on various Facebook groups - don't expect that they'll fit them all into the Q&A session.

Also, the rep group is meeting this Wednesday, if there's anything you want us to discuss (such as any issues to raise with the club), let us know.

Cheers
Oska

Why does the club offer membership deals (Fathers Day) at a price that is cheaper than that offered to existing members to renew theirs. Yes renewing members were given a discount but  the Fathers Day offer  was still cheaper

Is the Nix planning on keeping the same 11 Fan Reps continue each season, or will these rotate after a certain time? 🙂

What do they think a new Auckland club will mean for the Nix?

If it's not too late, I'd be keen to know whether the surprises Chief mentioned in that presser from early August are still happening or whether that's gone the way of our would-be import defender.

"...we're talking with a couple of people at the moment. Umm... Some might be of a surprise. Ah... And... I'll reveal that at a later date."

Thanks all, keep them coming.  I doubt questions about memberships or the fan reps will be put to the coaches, but we'll raise those with the club.
