Looks like the APL have done well with having us play away in Melbourne during the Boxing Day Test - should be plenty of people keen to see both the Black Caps and Phoenix

Auckland playing away at Melbourne City on the 27th too.
Second season in a row they're playing the Sydney derby in the opening round. Such a waste to play the league's biggest derby right at the start rather than letting it build up hype, similar sentiment with F3.

Shoot I hadn't noticed this at first glance. We're doing christmas in Melbourne for the boxing day test. This will absolutely be the cherry on top! My first time in the away bay for a Phoenix game. Can't wait!

As someone else posted earlier, I think a derby or two in the first few weeks is a good idea off the back of a World Cup. Thats when football is at maximum interest levels for casuals. Best chance every 4 years to hopefully hook in some new A League fans.
Though yes the league does start nearly 3 months after the big dance finishes.
Both Kiwi teams playing in Melbourne whilst the Black Caps are playing the Boxing Day test. Accommodation might be a bit pricey but that is a decent travel option.

Glad last home game is at Wellington (as it is our home). no more of the six weeks left and no games in WGTN. It disengages your fan base and the last home game should ALWAYS be in Wellington.
If your suggesting a game there very much doubt it,wouldnt think it would pass A League standards. Plus from memory we never played any A League games there. My money and hope is a double header in Christchurch on Watangi weekend. ( better be im already booked😉)

It's Greeny talking about taking this season's squad to Newtown Park for a training session. NP being where Greeny used to train when he was a Nix player, and a reminder to today's players the club was born 20 years ago with facilities far less flash than NZCIS.

Pitch is actually pretty decent, especially after upogrades due to women's world cup, lighting wouldnt be up to scratch nor wotu the other facilities but the pitch is mint.

I thought they changed the lights too? Nice touch bringing them back to where he started, solidifies the grounding perspective.

yeah the lighting was improved but really only decent for training, the womens central league play night games there, but I imagine for tv they would meet aleague standards.
I'm wondering if the club could "Milk" Luke Brooke-Smiths move to Portsmouth. Along the lines of "If you apply yourself hard enough and hone your skills as a young person, then the world could possibly be your oyster. Look at LBS, His journey is beginning in front of 53,000 West Ham & Portsmouth fans. If you need motivation, then this is it."
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Yeah, I would’ve happily traded my early bird discount for this if I’d known about it (assuming it’s one or the other).
There also didn’t seem to be an option to tack on a Football For All donation like there has been in previous years, unless choosing the Phoenix as your grassroots club has that effect maybe?
Minor niggles aside though, great to see the club giving back to the footballing community like this. Makes a nice change from the international headlines at the moment.

Yep, site seems particularly slow this morning. Best defence I’ve found against double posts is to open the forums in a new tab when I get a timeout, usually my post will have gone through despite the error.
Looks like we may have played a friendly against Wellington Olympic today at NZCIS?
Photomac has put up a picture on his socials showing Alby Kelly Heald and Bill Tuiloma playing against Olympic at NZCIS, wearing last season's black away kit. 1000027931.jpg462.65 KBAnyone got any more info such as the score etc?
They won 6:2. Now, this a true start to pre season. Next I think we will see more new players. I imagine next week and the week after. Good to the existing players get a match. Good to see the picture of Nathan Walker in match, important that he gets a good pre season.

We always tend to beat Olympic by 4 goals each pre season... At the end of the day pre-season results don't matter at all.
