Had this passed on to me from a friend re: ground availability with events going on at home stadiums.

Hnry Stadium: Wellington Phoenix,
October 23/24/25 – due to T20 cricket international on Tuesday October 27th
November 6/7/8 – due to ODI cricket international on Saturday November 7th.

So if the season starts on the weekend of October 16th then it seems likely that we will have a home, away, home, away first four weeks to start the season. Just putting it out there...

Oh man! I mean it isn't even a big deal but was hoping 7th November was home game (or even if on the 8th)

I've seen, from two different sources of information, that round 1 will be a NZ derby @ Mt Smart

Thats not what was asked for. It was asked to be Victory as a celebration of our first game. Going to be some PO people if thats not what it is.

Righto. So let's hope the Phoenix can shock Auckland with an early goal & build to a first ever derby win. Surprise them before they can build season form.

Round 1 fixtures will be released Wednesday 10am NZT. Blurred screenshot posted previously by ALM socials showed what seems to be AFC hosting us week one, but blurred screenshot in the post and on ALM website shows maybe WSW. As alluded to above, Vuck would be the ideal game as a nod to 2007, but anything would be better than spunking 1 of the derby games in week 1 (unless AFC demanded it so that the fever would be present to watch some banner/trophy ceremony).
I would love to have a derby in October purely because I’m moving overseas in early-November, but week 1 is a bit of a shocking choice from my view.

Maybe more so if the VUC as rumoured start the season with an away game at WSW.
At face value nothing special about that fixture.

Official fixtures release this Wednesday it seems.

From Reddit.
The 1st Round has supposedly been leaked on X and according to the leak its as follows

City V Adelaide
Auckland V Wellington
Brisbane V Sydney
Central Coast V Perth
Macarthur V Newcastle
Western Sydney V Victory

Note there will be 3 derbies again this season, with two in Auckland.

Ridiculous if they have gone with a Derby to start the season, thats even forgetting the fact they may have ignored the request for the Nix to start their 20th season as they started their first with a game against Victory. Then again this is the A League.

Apart from the two NZ sides squaring up each other 3 times, it will be interesting which other teams they are drawn to play three times.

Everyone will be keen to miss two trips to Perth.

Auckland will rise once more

So with what YH posted that means if as some are claiming we play a Derby first game,3 of our first 4 games are away great way to build into your 20th season Sure bloody hope thats not how we start the season.

First video clip from training, anyone spot any uncontracted players? (If there is any in there)
Nice to see Nathan Walker running around, and Greeny at pains with a grin, to make sure Walker is caught on video!!

Again a big season for him if he can stay fit.

I doubt Greenacre lets both GSR and LBS (yes a healthy fee) go, if he doesn't plan that Walker will step up this season.

Winger but start of Cheif's second season, he was being shoehorned into a RWB role due to the lack of other options.

What I heard back is that Victory would be a hard ask given their Champions League commitments - A lot of uncertainty in that regards, but I guess we'll find out soon enough!

If we're away to Auckland first week as well then that's just dumb, as it would also likely mean we'll be away for the first two weeks of the season before playing at home in week three...

For reference, Auckland ground unavailability means they'll likely be away in the 2nd week of the season.

I really hope  they aren't blowing their load with a derby round one. It's nice to have that kind of fixture to look forward to a few rounds in once the season begins to take hold and you've got a better understanding of where each squad is at. I'm definitely gonna try my absolute best to make it up to Wellington for the Hnry stadium derby whenever that may be.  Despite the results, have always been seething with jealousy of having not been able to check that one off the fan experience as of yet.

Awesome to see Walker in the fold. Really hoping he can rise above this made of glass reputation. There weren't many highlights to Chiefy's second season but  it did feel one of them was at least that he was the best looking behind LBS of our youth prospects and showed potential to be able to kick on. Was real gutting to have him not get that chance to kick on last season due to injury.

Twenty seasons of our beloved Nix. Lets make it one to remember, and here's to the next twenty that hopefully feature a few more trophies in the cabinet than the first!

Given that none of the clubs own their grounds, and that almost all the stadiums are multi-use, putting together the A League draw even with ChatGP must be a challenge. I'm sure there are plenty of times, teams have had to start the season with two away games, sucks though it would.

I'll be watching for the date of the 'home' Nix game at Te Kaha. Keen to visit the new ground, and NZ 'B" against India in a friendly is less appealing that an A League match with points on the line.

Agree re Walker. I'd say Greeny is a fan, and hopefully it's a break out type season for Brooke Walker's son.

the problem is that you could also see the marketing of 20th season, first match away against the defending champions whom we have never got anything from in six attempts, new coaches, can they celebrate their 20th season and kick on from there.

We need to also grow up, the league does not give a toss if it's our 20th year. The NRL did not give a toss about the Warriors 20th too.

It would actually make sense to do one. Cash in on the AW WC buzz before the Nix, and potentially AFC, have bang average seasons.

Those first four games are actually a fantastic way to start the season. First two at home, including the requested game against MV. First away game against the Jets who have probably been gutted of players after their brilliant season just gone. Finally, after a great build up we roll into the first derby with what I hope will be a head of steam.

Fingers crossed for the season!

Mmmm wonder who needs to grow up. Unlike some im not in the habit of posting made up stuff. If i have posted something its normally been posted because its come from a reputable source. Unlike some i dont normally post just made up or ridiculous stuff. Just maybe the A League were listening and are aware its the Phoenixs 20th year. Gee thats a surprise. Nope

To be fair mate we've been pretty dry of news with the WC going on. Don't blame people too much for accidentally getting some of the facts wrong, everyone is just excited and hopeful for the new season :)

Sorry wrong, some on here like to doubt much that gets posted in good faith, yet are continually happy to come up with crazy theories and accusations. Not accidental and nothing at all to do with the WC, some choose to do it over EVERYTHING Phoenix. There negativity at times is is just nuts.

Melbourne Victory at the Ring of Fire was the first ever Phoenix game.
