Is it covered by radio sport? Probably not likely but fingers crossed.

I am thinking a 8-0 score, anything under that would be a success for Cantabs, but under 5-0 would be impressive for Cantabs.

What is the mainland line-up?

See it was mentioned earlier. Is there a mini YF area.

Wonder if they will be doing bag checks like last time.  Either that or will they sell beers?  Can't watch a game of footy without a lager!

Just wondering what busses go via QEII? I'm Staying at Bishop Julius Hall at Uni so trying to figure a way of getting to the game
Permalink Permalink

From Uni you need to get the metrostar (orange bus)
timetables etc here: http://www.metroinfo.org.nz/index.html

Is anyone going to see the lads train today? just heard it advertised on the radio, 12.30 till 2 and afterwards signing autographs etc

Yeh, taking the kids to get some autographs, got the whole team last season on a football too.
On a news release that  I got yesterday from Mainland it said training was from 10.30 till 12.00, then autographs and meet the team between 12.00 and 12.30.

just talking about it on ZB

Final score 2-0 to Nix, was 0-0 at half time - Smeltz got both
Ricki was happy with the game the commentator said, "not all about scoring goals, but about playing to a team pattern"

Over 3600 in the crowd apparently

Was there 2-0, and have covergae of both goals on digital camera. Will chuck them on youtube soon.

To be honest the match was pretty average, other than the start of the second half.

Not quite as impressive as the Roars 3-1 win over Brazilian side Palmieras last night... but I guess 2-0 is alright. At least we aren't losing to club sides like a lot of the Australia A-League teams seem to be!

The crowd was 6438. And the signed framed nix shirt wasn't claimed you think that they would have had a redraw for the  shirt, but no, its to be given away on Radiosport between 12 and 6 next Saturday.

I thought that was stupid (that they didn't give the signed jersey away), I thought it was ZB though. But why reward the people just ringing up, give it to the people that turned up.

The game was very average. We had all the ball but did nothing with it, both of Smeltz's goals were extremely soft, just tap ins. Never looked like scoring from free flowing play.
Doddy played pretty well in anchor mid, Gao looks enthusiastic, Hearfield good sub, Defence stood up when needed.
It was good football just not that exciting to watch.

Hopefully pick up the pace for the Pre season tournie

We even had smoke rolling across the ground in the 2nd half so the Chinese who werre playing a game after the 'Nix (as an earthquake relief fundraiser) felt at home.

What's sight without sound? Love without peace? Copulation without conception?

Ditto. Nothing inspiring. high skill level from the 'Nix but no real intent to score. Boring at times.

ive got a song that wont take long, Adelaide are rubbish.. the second verse is same as the first.. ADELAIDE ARE RUBBISH

An annual pre-season fixture sounds good to me! It could start some renewed interest in creating an A-League team for the future maybe? Especially when Australia is thinking of getting a Promotion/Reg divisions in the far future and the Mainland teams starts getting good results. A 0-2 loss is a very good result for a team of in-season semi-professionals against a full professional pre-season team. 6438 is also an very good crowd number.

Head to head between Wellington Phoenix vs Canterbury Mainlanders;

Wellington 2: 0 Canterbury

Looking forward to next year game already.

One day the Mainlanders might snatch a win from the Phoenix.

Did Kwasnik get a run ? If so how did he look ?
He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)
