Watch it in high quality. It actually helps quite a bit.

Smeltz first goal wasn't bad at all, the way he trapped it and shot, but the second one was absolutely horrendous, looked like the Mainland defender chipped his own keeper to send Smeltz through one on none (and even then his goal went in off the bar).

Daniel looked plain lazy today, and Kwasnik didn't get long, but he hit the bar.  The linesmen had his flag up for offside but nobody was looking at him so it isn't like the defence relaxed for a moment.

Dodd played well in defensive mid, Sigmund was right back and Lia was leftback (Lochhead wasn't there).  Gao did well, I gave him a high 5 after the game lol - poor chap doesn't know a word of English.

A standout for Mainland was Ben Hughes.  He very nearly chipped Moss, and he cleared a certain goal off the line at a corner (he also chopped Lia down).

They did redraw for the signed Phoenix shirt, but obviously nobody bothered collecting their price then either.

There was a lot of promotion for the womens U-17 world cup going on.  They even had the U-17 world cup trophy there.  I asked if it was real and they said yes, though they wouldn't let me touch it as I didn't have any gloves.

No disrespect to Gao but hearing him yell Daniel's name is quite possibly one the funniest things I've ever heard.

And your right, he did have a good match.

Nice day my arse.. fkn cold.

No room in the stand for you Scottish? Quite warm up there out of the easterly, and a good view. Highlight of the day was the 400 meter race at half time where Coastal Spirit came 2nd (we were robbed!).

What's sight without sound? Love without peace? Copulation without conception?

Totally agree. Redraw until it goes on the day. Can't see how they can decide otherwise. It was a prize for attending the game, not for listening to the radio. And I had the next lucky number to come out!

We celebrated cause Beddles is a twat!

Oh and we sat in the stand for the first half but moved to Just behind Ricky and co. at half time to get a better view.

He died in the last 10 meters. Played outstanding the day before whereas the guy who won hadn't played (I think). Forgot you guys went to the same school as him and would be jealous of his success .

I was gunning for him the whole way.

was good to see so many people there, although u got the sense that no one knew who to support,

nix played well, strung passes together nicely but seemed to panick in the final third of the pitch, really they could have easily have won 5-0,6-0,

big raps to buchanon , mainlands keeper

whole nix team played well particually dodd, leilei gao and bertos,

mainland played pretty defensivly even when they were losing, it was a pity really because when they went foward at the end they looked good, matt boyd and the mohawk guy played well for mainland,

all in all, positive game for the nix, at the end of the day it was a training game and would like to see an actual a-league game down here next year.

I agree.. Mainland played very defensively but also the nix looked rusty, especially their ball into the box which to me was a poor quality. This showed in the type of goals scored

much bigger crowd number than i 'heard' (or misheard) on ZB

good to see, in some reports, Doddy getting MoM  in his new role in front of the back four

I'd expect Ferrante would take Christie's place in league games (?)

Uh, he got in with about 10 to go. Didn't do anything spectacular, but didn't do anything that poor ever.

Hearfield came on in the last 25 mins. Had a few good runs up the left side, and a great pass around the player around the player move that resulted in a corner. Great little play. ? I'm not sure if he hit the post or was it Johnson? Hearfield took a few cornors from the left once Daniel and LeiLei were off which weren't half bad. I think Hearfield will do great at the club.

I didn't even realize that Plodder was playing until he was subbed.. Says alot doesn't it? Dodd was brilliant.. Hustled his way around that defensive area and pushed forward once or twice.. Also had a long range hit that  went over to the corner flag. He was impressive though.

The mainland keeper was bloody good, making a couple of good saves and getting the ball off Smeltz in a one on one. He is one to watch. Also Matt Thompson (ithink mohawk guy) impressed me for the select side, shame that he was only on for about 40 mins.

It is a shame that the Select side played 10 men behind the ball, otherwise it would of been an entertaining game

I'm pretty sure it was Hearfield. No Knaswik (SP?) came on with 10-15 to go.

Chances are your wrong since you couldn't tell the players apart like hwen you got Leilei and Bertos mixed up on a number of times.

Actually it was once. And it was Lia and Leilei. Get it right!

Kwasnik was the one who hit the bar.

Dodd was good, but his shot was absolutely dreadful.  He needs a haircut as well lol.

The mohawk guy for Mainland at one point almost completely embarrassed Moss.  He was beside the throw in line and he booted it up and toward goal (when I say up I mean about 30ish metres up) and Moss couldn't see a thing because of the sun and he did practically nothing as the ball bounced about a foot away from the goal line with absolutely nothing stopping it going in the net except the angle it was kicked from which made it go wide.

The ball actually brushed the front of the crossbar on the way down. Not sure what Moss was doing, think he lost sight of it when it entered the moons orbit, or he thought it was over the bar.
