This thread will be moved or locked but I thought I would ask for an answer from people in the know, what did Ricky/Tony/Terry ever do to Danny Hay? In his column on the front page again today he wanks on about how little we offered Smeltzy, how many f**king times does he have to be told! Hes a bitter, washed up asshole who writes in a paper I wouldnt be bothered wiping my ass with, id prefer something more credible like the Truth.

Trouble is lots of people will read his column and take it at face value. These people will think that the Phoenix blew it by being stingy with Smeltzy. I reckon Danny has a huge chip on his shoulder coz he battled away in crap NZ teams like the Kings and Knights and now the Phoenix are getting the glory. Remember Danny....you were the one who came out and said" I will never go to Wellington to play for the Phoenix" PULL YOUR HEAD IN LOSER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

I agree, he has never had  a good word to say about the phoenix. Hay was an over-rated player at the best of times so he should have a look at himself.
How many times does he have to be told - the nix offer was better than the gold coast but he chose to go with the coast.

Think Big Danny has to get it into his head that Smeltz leaving doesn't seem to be about money. It's been publicly stated that we offered him just about anything he wanted to stay but, for other reasons, he's decided to move on. Why don't you drop it Danny. Write us a nice piece on how Waitak are going to get their arses handed to them by Adelaide. Jag2008-11-30 13:31:46

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Shane's decision was not about the money he was or wasnt offered. Hay pulled some figures from out of his arse

He's just pissed because he turned down the chance to play for the nix cause they wanted him based in Wellington and he wanted to fly between Auck and Wgtn.

He has to write sh*t, cause sh*t sells his crappy paper. Even the Truth is better informed than the Sunday News.

Recent history anyone:

Phoenix Reserves 7
Danny  Hay United 1

The man has plenty to be sad about.  He didn't even have the stones to take the field in that game.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Yeah, something we have to live with and move on as a club. Having someone going on and on about it is just pointless.

Honestly, surely he's caught on to how much of a t**ser people think he is and that his column is just annoying. Obviously not, because here we are giving his sh*t the sh*t it deserves.

Ah well, it's a bit of a laugh now anyway, hopefully not too many people take this rubbish seriously

They were a big fat bald headed "0" that arvo Smithy.....

While Hay continues to bash the Mighty Nix, I loved the way we sung out to Mossy to give us a wave when he came out with the rest of the bench pre-match, and that we sing "We love you Smeltzy, we do".....

That's all class boys, and I like it.....not too many clubs fans would be doing what we are doing while they're still wearing our colours.....

I'm actually going to go against opinion in this forum. I haven't seen the article but the few times i have spoken with Danny, I see his point of view and actually think he is an alright guy.

Yes he played with Leeds, yes he did all those things before Ryan etc etc. Yes he is old and is playing at a level that is not beyond him yet. He has also earned a bit of respect because he has played that level that we never did. He may have a chip on his shoulder but no more than Wynton, Ryan and his comments. Its called 'I've seen the greener grass on the other side of the fence lads'

Like I said I haven't read the article, but I am always inclined to believe that there are two sides to every story. Danny may have the wrong one. He also may have the inside one as they were team mates....

And Hay wants us to take his comments seriously? I don't what what the man has taken but "dillusional" seems to fit his description. I think I am correct when Tony P said the Nix offered Smeltz a blank cheque and that Smeltz decided to turn it down in favour of a life style choice for his family.

Fair call too for Smeltz, he has show true professionalism by continuing to bang in the goals despite his impending leaving us.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

The guy needs to pull his head in and concentrate on making sure that Waitak aren't a complete embarrassment in the CWC.

They could easily undo all the good work that the Nix and the 2 womens WC teams have done for the image of NZ football both nationally and internationally.

He is just jealous that he wasn't wanted by the Nix.

I say tackle him in the face.

Massively a has been. May have been good last year, this year he would pretty much be a number filler/mascot.
