Has that banner been on the other side of the ground at other games?

What is it about?

It's new, created by a former "Zoner". Has a few fans gone over there which with their singing ability is spreading the enhanced atmosphere. Good luck to them, as it would be nice if the whole stadium joined in with the singing etc.

Cheers.

Does anyone know was it just people wanting to do something different on their game-day?

Or is it an anti-YF thing?

If they bring more fans then awesome, however, having two small groups seems pretty daft to me.

I don't get the anti-YF sentiment but I guess there are always going to be factions and splits when there is so much angst about the team.

Good luck to them, they've obviously invested some $ into the banner and have sold a few of those hoodies.

Not sure where they're going to draw their support from, mind.

Seems from old YF members at this stage from the 4-5 saw that are with them. Maybe all it'll do is shrink the YF as can't see them attracting new people unless they have new ideas. At this stage, they are pretty much doing same thing as Fever.

Yeah if you like the "Ultras" theme...

I think it is a good idea, it may well help getting the singing and chanting going over on thatside of the field. Why should it only bne in the zone? They are not splitting anyone up. They are closer to the pitch and not a hundred yards away from it. This could be a good positive thing and we should be encouraging everyone to participate right around the whole ground. Not just the zone which is selfsustaning.

PS: Better view of the field too.

Sat behind them for the 2nd half. Brandon Clarke involved (possibly part of the reason for it beginning, not welcome in Fever Zone?) - count me out thanks.

Why would Brandon not be welcome in the Fever zone?

tbf LG, their social media has been hashtagging #splitters on almost everything they've posted so that's in their mind as to what they're about

Always keen on a good scarp, ay Greenie :)))

I don't have an issue with a 'breakaway' or new active support zone - many teams in Europe/rest of the world receive a more 'fractioned' type of support yet they thrive.

There are supporter groups within the same team who can't stand the sight of each other - all that matters is 1) bums on seats 2) loud, vocal support 3) no violence (not an issue in NZ anyway).

tbh: I assumed #splitters was a reference to Life Of Brian not a dig at YF, as have a couple of people above:

I heard it's a campaign by residents to rename Thorndon Quay to Thorndon Terrace, as over the years earthquakes and land reclamation mean that the edge of the harbour is now some distance away.

However, some Wellington historians are adamant that it be kept as Thorndon Quay.
eg:

If the Terrace campaign succeeds, I believe their next target will be changing Lambton Quay to Lambton Crescent.

I don't think splitting" is a good term. It's not like its people trying to make the YF fall over but rather, to get people on that side of the field to be more active rather than just sitting there. As for "Ultras" etc, I don't think there is any of that kind of behaviour at Nix games. We cant afford to lose any more fans than we have. I would hope we all try to get along for a common purpose and make some noise in supporting the team. No, I am not Naieve, just too old to be bothered with that sort of crap. I don't want my Grandson seeing that sort of behaviour anyway.

If you look at their twitter they tweet a lot about inclusiveness and welcoming people from the LGBT community to their split. I think they're Ultras in branding only.

I had never heard of it but after Googling wouldn't YF be Ultra's?

Colour coding, the Tifo, flags, chanting and singing seems to be an Ultra.

Altho Ultras can be positive groups across the political spectrum, the behaviour of some Ultras, especially Italian, particularly SS Lazio, have given the name a far-right wing association. Plus the Argentinian groups are excessively violent as seen in the behaviour of River Plate fans over the weekend at the Copa Libertadores match

Well of course there are Nazi ultras (Lazio, Verona), and there are communist ultras (Bologna, Livorno)

... is that one fellow who got bounced from the Zone after yelling racist/homophobic comments at Sarpreet Singh involved in TT?

I presume Control of Power. Which is a complaint against the YF that has become increasingly prominent; ie. the anti-elite brigade
