ok in the latest YF TAB Podcast - the lads mentioned their prefered midfields. It is a 442 formation, which I believe it said in the paper they are going to use. Whether this will mean Cov, Kwaz or someone else to partner Smetlz who knows- but who is right with their midfield pick?
Piney-
Hearfield Gao Ferrante Daniel
Buckle- Brown
Bertos Daniel Gao
Thommo -

I think Thommo's is the most accurate, as it was reported earlier in the week that they were looking at a 442 with 2 holding midfielders, which rules the other combinations out. I would have Thommo's but with Daniel replacing Bertos and swapping wings with Gao.

He's only out of the All Whites side for Saturday due to suspension so you would think so.

think Buckle's is the best fit for the desired outcome, can't see that having two holding midfielders iw working at the moment so lets go back to the 4 at the back a defensive mid (Brown) and let the other three run riot.

who would want brown in there team??

I wouldn't vote for any of them, Brown was not great last time he played for the Nix, certainly not better than Johnno. I'd have Dodd and Johnoo ahead of him, even Christie. Of course, maybe he is training up a storm....
It depends of course who is playing up front too (I'd go for Daniel and Smeltz)
Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

I didn't like any of them.
I voted for Buckle though. I was supposed to click Piney though!
But I still don't like his placements of them, just the players used..I would have gone...
Hearfield - Ferrante - Daniel - Gao
Thommo was the first I elimated, how dare you not include Daniel!

Hopefully all three of them have got it wrong

I definitely agree with Buckle. Inspired

'Piney's' was the best, but I don't agree with any of them.
We need Daniel to start, which rules out option 3 and Hearfield>Bertos.Arsenal2008-09-05 14:58:28

You put him up front with Smeltz. On saying that, I thought Bertos did ok when shifted up front so perhaps he could partner Smeltz and Daniel goes to midfield

I think they are all rubbish!
If we have to play 442 I'd go with:
Hearfield Ferrante Brown Daniel
(Gao or Bertos up front with Smeltz. Dodd in for Brown if he isn't fit enough yet). I suspect Ricki will bench Daniel and start with Gao on the left and Bertos up front though.

Same here.
Surely if Brown is making a come back from so long away it is only fair to bring him on with 20 or so to go at least until he gains match practice.
And why is everyone such a fan of Hearfield, he was one of the worse offenders of giving the ball away last week?

No-one was good last week.
To me, it comes down to Bertos versus him for the RW position. This season Bertos has had a cross on him that brings back horrifying memories of El**ch, whereas Hearfiled has looked sharp (last week aside, obviously, where no-one was any good).

I think's it a case of if he missed Adelaide, he's our magic bullet
I get the impression that some folks' ideal XI against CCM would be:
Paston
Christie Dodd Sigmund Muscat
Costa Daniel Brown
Smeltz Coveny Draper

noe that I think about it, Buckle's line-up is probably preferable, with Brown instead of Ferrante alongside daniel. With Bertos, Daniel and Gao all being very attacking players, I think we need a real ball-winner in midfield, which Brown provides. Dodd could also work in that position, but I as long as he's fit I'd definately prefer Brown

... OK. Who are Piney, Buckle and Thomo?
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.
