I'm having trouble with this off season.

Far too much good news.

We sign another good mid and a striker and I'll be catatonic.

Press conference was interesting.

Ufuk was asked about Krishna, he said they talked to him a couple of months ago but it didn't progress far.

Bozidhar was asked why he didn't play much last season and he said it was because he wouldn't sign an extension.
I'm going to go ahead and say there was a language barrier there with his answers, so I would personally take that with a grain of salt.

he said it was because he didn't want to re-sign. Pretty clear I thought.

Was thinking the same myself very unlike a Nix pre season cant remember if we have had so many players signed so early. Here is hoping its a good omen.

"Talay said he expected goalkeeper Oli Sail to report back along with the club’s other All Whites next week Monday after they were given extra time off following the World Cup qualifier defeat to Costa Rica.

A couple of overseas clubs were tracking Sail towards the end of last season following his stellar displays but Talay said the “noise” had gone quiet in recent weeks with no one making a concrete offer."

The error that led to the goal against Peru might have kept him at the Nix

Do we think the local CB might be Winston? Would seem odd to bring someone in ahead of Surman otherwise. Musa is in season? Just Elliot and JHS at RB would be a bit scary you’d think…
Who else would be a local CB from the local competition?

Winston, Te Atawhai and Hunter Ashworth the only notable free agent kiwi CBs. Trent Sainsbury and former Nix man Dylan Fox the free agent Aussies. Nikko Boxall could maybe negotiate an early release from his contract (expires in November), otherwise Schrijvers, Mitchell and Brotherton the only amateur kiwis you could expect to make the step up. Plenty of NPL Aussies I know nothing about too but I’m hoping it’s Winston.

Don't wanna scare anyone but just repeating what I've heard from a well-educated Central Coast Mariners mate...

They're after Oli Sail as a replacement for Birighitti (and yes he would take up a visa position). But they have a higher profile GK on their horizons first, I think Oli might be the second option to that.

Kraev is a fallen star at only 25. It's really difficult to understand what we're getting there.
At this level, he should be amazing.

There's been some allegations that his own arrogance may have contributed to the fall, no idea how accurate they are though.

If that is the case, a move to the arse end of the world could well be a fresh start, or maybe he thinks he'll be able to dominate the league & prove his quality. Here for it either way, but this may not be risk free if things don't go his way.

From what I can see on instagram TAHW has moved somewhere very Mediterranean looking, not sure if its football related.

Oli Sail doesn't take up a visa spot as one of his parents is Australian, so I'm not sure how well informed your source is.

Oli has an Aussie passport too so wouldn’t be a visa. I’ve heard that most CCM fans expect Sözer to be their number 1.

The Phoenix are after a 6'2 German forward, who has played in the Bundesliga and represented Germany at U21 level. He's scored over 80 goals in his career so far, and has recently played for Leeds and some obscure clubs in the middle east.

Just repeating what I've heard from a well-educated source...

Gutted for him. It was always gonna be hard to pick up a deal if Uffie thought he was more suited to a RB role. As a wide #10, he is more ready to provide impact than the kids we have on scholarship deals in those roles atm but they are low cost and outside the cap.

Looks like he's just enjoying his travels. Auckland United wished him best of luck a few months back when he left. From memory him and his partner were moving to the UK (?)

Idc about Lasogga anymore. If by some miracle we sign him, that would be pretty unbelievable. All I want is for Talay and Gill to get a good import striker for us.

Geez I'm having a shocker today, yeah only OVH has a senior deal.

I would rate JHS more A-League ready than OVH. But in Uffie we trust.

Just seen that Lourency, a 26 year old Brazilian winger that I picked as a potential Uli replacement last season is a free agent after leaving Göztepe in the Turkish Super Lig. It’s a long shot but turns out he played 29 games with Kraev in Portugal. I mean, surely it’s meant to be right?

I know Winnie would put bums on seats at the ROF, but from a football squad point of view he's not needed. Laws, Wootton, Surman & Payne (if not at RB) are all starting ALM quality.

Surely Reid's wages would just be too expensive? A nice to have, rather than a must have like a visa striker.

Be great if Uffie plugged for Taylor Schrijvers, especially given he's bypassed another Kiwi in JHS, but suspect it will be some young Aussie

Dome talked about rebuilding the fan base after 2 1/2 years away. As you said, Reid would put bums on seats, they might be chasing him because they see it as a quick way to re-engage with the local footballing community and kick-start the fan base.

I doubt it's happening though, but there's reasons for it beyond football.

I agree the striker is more important, but is a centre back partnership of Laws and Wootton a championship winning duo? They could be, but you wouldn't say either are league best. Reid would come in as, in terms of quality, probably the league's best defender. Suddenly Reid and Wootton is very much so a championship winning combo imo. Obviously fitness is a huge issue with Winston, as well as money, but I honestly think if it can be done it should. Might be shark for Laws (Surman is so young, he will get his time), but that's the price you pay for going all in for the toilet seat, which getting Reid would be a pretty good indication that Uffie and co are doing so

Schrijvers? Yeah honestly I wouldn't go expecting the Nix to sign any domestic-based past outside their own academy. Or who has previous overseas experience. Wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you.

JHS got a trial. Oli Whyte (who's overseas experience was minimal prior Finland) got a trial last pre season.

Talay signed TAHW who I'm pretty sure hasn't played overseas. But yes other guys signed from the domestic scene Payne, Lewis & even Elliott plus Mcgarry had all had stints in Europe.

Surely if we sign Winston, have him play for a season or two and then give him the Durante package (or similar). We need people like Winston in New Zealand Football and he could be huge behind the scenes, as he’s shown with his scholarship programme.

Would Winston qualify for any of the special funds that the aleague has? Like he’s an experienced epl player.  He played more epl games than Nani for example.

seems like a really odd move for Sail if it was to eventuate. He's not gonna progress or get noticed any more at CCM than he will as the Nix #1.

As has been said, Oli is contracted and there's no transfer fees in the a league. CCM isn't even allowed to talk to Oli without going through the nix until there's six months left on the contract.

Most teams will be interested in him, he's performing well, but the chance of him moving to another a league team is close to zero.

Is there a Hammers legend fund that we're all unaware of?

On a serious note though, if we were to sign Winston, I'd say we'd be using every avenue available that would help assist in paying his likely very high wages.
