This has no basis in rumour or anything, but sticks with the theme of young players with something to prove.

25 year old Hungarian striker Márk Koszta is a free agent after getting released by Ulsan Hyundai. He never actually played in the K-League and has been replaced by a better, more expensive Hungarian in Martin Ádám. He did manage two goals in 172 AFC Champions League minutes though and has a very respectable 0.62 G+A per 90 rate in the Hungarian top tier (almost exactly the same G+A rate as the Jet’s Beka Mikeltadze had in the Georgian top tier).

Could be a bit of an inspired signing in the Berisha/Mikeltadze mould, but again this is just baseless speculation at this point.

Think we can all agree this mould of player is the future of A-League imports for the non-loaded teams. Proven time and time again, ever since the days of Broich, Berisha et al

Helps that the Nix have an *awesome* recent track record of player development - foreign agents and players are no doubt taking notice

just need to keep Uffie on the books for as long as possible, I feel his reputation is a big part of what attracts players.

If it helps his agency has also started following the nix on insta

Even though this is speculation I feel like it must be pretty much also confirmed as the player we were talking to so unless talks break down or they're just waiting to announce it I feel like this will be the guy. Watched a couple of videos seems more like the Davila type compared to Kraev but much quicker and more powerful. He also looks very one-footed so having him on the right cutting in to shoot will be dangerous. Will be similar to Kraev where he'll either flop or impress a lot.

I've taken to searching 'Wellington Phoenix' in Twitter every couple of days. With any luck, some journalist will have tweeted out about a player getting a release to join us. I think that's what happened with when David Ball first signed here?

Leigh was very good for a few years, got into gambling, lost his way and hasn't really recovered. 
Complete change of scenery could be what he needs? Who knows?

Some time since you visited i see pokies far more frequently than i did when i visited UK 5 years ago.Plenty of pubs and clubs have both TABs and poker machines. No where near the  "gambling purgatory" you claim we are.

Yeah, Australia has something like 20% of all slot machines in the world.

I think I also saw something before Sydney announced any signings saying they apparently wanted a striker with Premier League experience. Leigh does fit that description.

He is also a friend of Jason Cummings, so possibly the Mariners 

Had a quick stalk of old mate Yan Sasse’s Instagram. As well as the Phoenix, he also follows the former Sydney and WSW player Alexander Baumjohann and CCM’s Moresche. He’s never played with or against either of them, but both he and Baumjohann played at Cortiba fairly close together, and the same with Moresche and Vasco da Gama.

Those three accounts are the only A-League related ones he follows from what I could see so to me that sounds like the bro has been getting some advice about the league from some players he may have mutual friends with.

Positive signs, let’s hope we can smash Devonport on Wednesday, get some minutes in Bozhi’s legs and then come home to a Sasse, striker and (maybe even) Reid announcement.

Would not be happy if the club went for Griffiths. A grade a pikey cod. Hateful character and not what you need around the dressing room. He had the skills but hasn’t shown it in many a year. He’d be right up Rudans alley.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see the Mariners take him back, they’re struggling for depth after the departures of Rowles and Tongyik

Their defense also couldn't keep hold of the ball against Sydney.

Agree. After what he's been through, I think it would be nice for him to know he has our support.
