I mean if you guys want to organise a banner thats awesome. Personally I think Tifo should always be pro nix. Nothing to do with opposition teams or players good or bad.

Nah, it would be really cool and meaningful. Davila is an ex player from not long ago and probably still has strong ties to a lot of the Nix players, it would be very moving for many people on the pitch I bet. You can of course make it in the Nix colours too so it is still Nix centric.

Loved Davila when he was here but not a fan of banners for opposition players no matter the circumstances. A minutes applause when his jersey number comes up on the clock maybe,im sure the message could be given to him what its about.

Respect your opinion but what Uli has gone through was extraordinarily awful, can't recall any other A-League player going through anything remotely similar in the 10+ I've watched the league (Happy to be proven wrong, but I can't recall anything). I'll say again, some things are bigger than football. Losing your wife falls firmly in that category.
You need to be careful with this. Nice gesture but a banner might be a bit much given the tragedy and not knowing how much of an adverse effect it may (or may not) have on him. I know if I was in his situation the last thing I’d want is something like that as it would be too emotional for me. Jazzy Jeff

Absolutely. I mean, I'm not saying we have a banner saying anything super specific, more like "Kia Kaha Uli" or something like that. Obviously it's an incredibly delicate situation and personally I think it would be something that, if there were plans to do it, should be talked about with the club first, possibly even with communication with Uli first as to whether he's okay with it. I dunno. I just feel so fudgeing bad for the guy and would love an opportunity for us to support him on his return.
Just dont think a banner no matter what it says is the way to go. Much prefer what seems to have become the accepted way of acknowledging something Applause at an appropriate time.
Was just thinking about Kraev postive start and how it seems Talay and co have really been hitting with all these imports the last few years makes me optimistic that'll the last two will be solid too. Looking out all the imports we've signed since Talay I'd say the hits are Taylor, Davila, Ball, Steinman, Hooper (1st season), Sandoval, Wootton, and then misses Hooper (2nd season). So that's a pretty impressive record. Could argue Sandoval not being a total hit and maybe Wootton still needs to prove it.

Yeah I think pretty much every import he's brought in has been at least decent.

Rudan signed Taylor. But otherwise you are on the money. Kudos both Talay & Gill
Uffie said when he first signed as coach, in his view the right recruiting is hugely important.
Can we get some money together for Jizz Hornkamp for the chants alone?
If I recall correctly it was a young Jizz who was keeping Marco Rojas out of the first team at Heerenveen when he was giving European football another crack. Didn't realised Nottingham were after him but upon googling it I got this absolute doozy of a headline - https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.football365.com/news/willem-ii-insist-jizz-not-for-sale-nottingham-forest-linked-dutch-forward&ved=2ahUKEwikmr6x06_5AhXR6jgGHeULDgYQFnoECCoQAQ&usg=AOvVaw0mSydi-TFVb1rNYRFGgTkJ
For those interested, I have compiled three free agent strikers from transfermarkt that have really stood out to me. Their total career stats are listed including injury history, any national team experience, and how they went in their most recent season just to name a few. All players have also had at least a mention here before. I understand that Talay and Gill are currently in discussions with a couple of number 9s which are probably none of these guys, this is purely just for fun.
All time leading goal scorer in Hungary’s first tier
Prolific goal scorer in MLS and Poland’s Ekstraklasa
Turns 35 in December, scored 14 goals in 36 games in all competitions last season and has apparently only missed two games in his whole career
Lewis Grabban: https://www.transfermarkt.com/lewis-grabban/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/35413
168 goals in 542 games
5th all time leading goal scorer in the Championship
Turns 35 in January, only injuries ever sustained were in the last two seasons, still managed to score 13 goals in 33 games in all competitions last season
Prolific goal scorer in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, has also played in Super Lig and Serie A
Turns 35 in April, 19 total goals in 27 games in all competitions last season, hasn’t missed more than 10 games since 2015/16
Bonus - Jordan Rhodes (not a free agent and more of a personal choice) https://www.transfermarkt.com/jordan-rhodes/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/48950
14 caps for Scotland
219 goals in 551 games
4th all time leading goal scorer in the Championship
Fell out of favour last season at Huddersfield, though apparently their new manager is keen on keeping him
Turns 33 in February, not the 20-30 Championship goal scorer he used to be but perhaps with a change of scenery could still score a decent amount of goals, also apparently has no known injury history
I’ll also throw in Alfred Finnbogason even though he has had pretty frequent injury problems in the last few seasons
My personal favourite transfermarkt free agent striker at the moment is probably still Mark Koszta. He’s not insanely prolific on paper with 65G + 26A in 204 appearances but when you compare his goal contributions to minutes played he averages a very good 0.6G+A per 90, plus he’s only 25 years old.
One bloke has been tweeting about how good of a signing he would be for UD Las Palmas, but it’s no different to the random speculation going on here. Jeonnam Dragons in K-League 2 were reportedly interested back in late June/early July but nothing’s come from that and there’s been no new news on it.

Apart from a somewhat suspect manager who possibly had nothing to do with Gill whatsoever, I think Gill is due more kudos then Uffie, Rudan and others.
I think he's the smart one in these foreign signings as lets be honest, we've not had that many foreign failures during his tenure. Our worst ones were under Ricki.

Really hope so. Getting more positive about this signing as time goes on. Comparing him to Daniel Penha who was a hit last year at the Jets. Both young left footed attacking players, similar stature. Penha spent all of his time in Brazil in Serie B. Where as Sasse mostly in Serie A. Sasse seemed to have much better worth in Brazil. Although Penha did represent Brazil at U20 level. 1 game only. Penha stocks / value have really risen since his season at the Jets. Probably something other young Brazilian players like Sasse would look at with interest.
Penha was awesome in the games I saw. Real quality.
What happened to the rumours about Winston? Ranix

Yan Sasse just put up an insta post saying goodbye to his family at the airport. Could he be on the way to join the team in Australia?

I see the post. Man that really sucks leaving behind your very young child and Wife. Surely they will just be on a later flight if this is actually a transfer for him because spending a full season away while your son grows up would suck big time.
Moresche from the Mariners has now also commented on Yan's post so is looking more likely

I don't want to be a pest but isn't 50 hours a bit high of a flight time? I thought it would be under 24 for sure... I mean I think you can fly from NZ to England within 30

Very long indeed! But at the moment flights are not easy to come by. I can find one that does it in 35 hours in the next couple of weeks; that's the quickest so 50 hours counting flight changes, is not out of the question. Hope he's going business class.

yeah I think I may have been thinking with a pre-covid brain there. Covid has destroyed international flights so yeah I bet 50 hours is reasonable

It looks like there aren't any direct flights from Buenos Aires or Santiago which I think there used to be and would expect would be quite a bit quicker.
Looks like the flights are Porto Alegre->Sao Paulo->Dallas->Sydney which is 30 hours of actual time in the air, add in a decent layover in Dallas and its a long trip
