According to information from Rádio Brasil , striker Rildo was carrying his teammates Yan Sasse, Jordi and Raul in his car when the vehicle was approached by armed criminals on the Linha Amarela, West Zone of Rio de Janeiro. The criminals surrendered the athletes and took the car, in addition to Rildo and Jordi's cell phones.
Yan Sasse to Wellington Phoenix is CONFIRMED. Sasse landed in Wellington yesterday and will be completing his medical tomorrow. Announcement expected to be next week
99% sure that account’s completely unreliable, but yeah it’s good as confirmed now. Instagram rumours are great, huh! So stoked for this signing
He is the one that claimed Krishna had a handshake deal etc. Don't take him as gospel.
Oh yeah, of course! More meant there's a 99% chance that all his intel is just googling and guessing, no actual source at all
I'm guessing that it is accurate that he's arrived in NZ with a view to joining the Nix.

He had only just boarded a plane in Brazil when this went out so that part was not accurate either

To be fair he could have posted that while in transit somewhere on route. Not that it matters. Arrival coincides with some good Wgtn weather. That's a positive sign.

Good Wellington weather? That's not a positive sign, that's an oxymoron.
I know this is probably a non starter for a number 9 position, But Adel Taarabt is about 32 and I wonder if he'd like to come here. Ufuk would be just the type of coach to cajole him. If you want to see skill and spectacular goals, you-tube him from his QPR days. He was brilliant. At the time his agent was not serving his best interests. But now towards then end of his career, he might be up for it. A Fantastic player on his day.

Old yes, but he's actually been playing some of the best football of his career since those QPR days of late with Benfica. Bizarrely he's playing as more of a 6 or 8 than as a 10, and he's been really solid for them over the past couple seasons in that deeper role
Yan Sasse seems like a bit of a 2012 signing, random Brazilian that barely plays.
I mean there are plenty of players that wait in the reserves of big teams hoping for a chance to play while being very good players in their own right. I trust Uffy so I'm hopeful sasse will be one of those diamond in the rough types
Couldn't comment on twitter as I'm in Twitter prison. 🙃 But very exciting to get another signing across the line. Feels to me like there is just a completely measured approach to signings this season, we're not setting the world alight and announcing world-beaters, but man for man, every signing has been an improvement on what we've brought in over recent seasons.
Feels like forever (yes I am impatient!) since we announced Kraev so feels very good that Sasse is coming into the fold and we get to put another piece of the puzzle in place for 22/23.
Takes us to a squad of 20 (19 in reality until Rufer comes back way down the line). With one more visa option available. Squad taking shape quite nicely overall though.
Can I ask finally though where the Winston Reid rumours have gone? Bit quiet on that front lately. 🤔

25, Attacking Midfielder, fits what we want in a player and hopefully comes off as another Ufuk gem.

Still hopeful but the Reid rumours were pretty weak at best so not super surprising that they’ve died down
I hope our import st signing will be a similar signing to Beka Mikeltadze from Newcastle Jets. Good age and playing at the sorta mid tier European leagues similar to Kraev

He seems to have been stuck in a bench role pretty much the whole of his career so far. My biggest worry is that he might not have ability to impact the game over the full 90 minutes. If he does ends up being our version of Henrique, that isn't the worst thing tho.

At least we’ve got depth there with Kosta, Old and even Ball so shouldn’t be too much of an issue if he’s not a 90 player
Sasse and Kraev are now following each other on insta. Hopefully they will strike up a great partnership on the field
I think that is pretty much confirmation it will be Sasse announced tomorrow. Not sure if he will be able to get his visa in time for Wednesday but if he does it will be interesting to see whether he is in the squad, most likely on the bench, and Kraev gets his first start. Anyone know how long it has usually taken for our past imports to get their visas?

Sounds like he's got his visa sorted going off the press release.
One year deal though (😫) so can see him doing well down here and then being snapped up on mega-bucks by one of the other A-Leeches, I mean A-League clubs. 🙃
Big welcome to Yan Sasse no less. Looking forward to seeing this guy tear it up! COYN!
"Yan Sasse will join Kraev, experienced English forward David Ball and young All White Ben Old as the players vying for the two 10 roles in Talay’s system."
Sounds like Talay will play Barbarouses up front.
Also just realised Sasse will have Waine's old number.
You have to wonder which side was driving it as a one year deal, obviously any contract is a risk for the club but you'd like to see them push for 1+1 type deals more. I guess with Sasse he's a bit more of an unknown quantity than someone like kraev

100% this. Feel like if he goes well this year then he'll definitely attract interest from across the ditch. Would like to see the club have an option on an extra year, say if he played x amount of games or got 10 goals across the season, then we could trigger an automatic extension.
Another thing that would possibly come in to it would be the family situation back in Brazil. Who knows if his partner/kid will be over to see him this season or not. We're a long way from home for a lad from South America...
Could also be a factor that Uffie is only contracted to us until the end of the season - Maybe he's just seeing how that situation will evolve. A lot of factors at play here.
Let's hope he goes great guns, and we get behind him. If he has a banger season then hopefully we can showcase to him that his future lies in New Zealand.
Looks like he left his family behind, and the only place he's played outside of Brazil was Turkey which is pretty intense. I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted to keep the option of returning to Brazil next yea if things don't work out.
So if a player only wants to sign for one year im sure the club would love to find out how they can make them sign for longer. Seeing plenty of comments of people complaining about one year deals but cant recall seeing any solutions.
