That hurts. We've done more than enough to deserve a point here. Unimpressed with Paulsen. Two mistakes this season so far. Yes, 3 penalty saves, but a careless error like that is hard to forgive, sorry.

Ffs. When we have the ball up there end bloody attack! Going back and giving up possession is insane

Well, that should be a lesson on not carelessly knocking the ball around at the back

I don’t blame Paulsen for that either. We decided to go back but half the players didn’t track leaving very few options. If you’re going to go back to your 6 yard box to recycle, then you have to ensure the players come back to. Otherwise, as we just saw, it’s asking for trouble.

Feels like Sydney is lucky to only be on 6 cards
Feel like there should be a team red. Instead we help another team out later in the competition.

We blew that game so badly. A valuable point was there for the taking.

Disappointing result but some positives. 2 goals were gifts from us, the third coming at the death when we were pushing everyone up. We soaked up so much pressure in the first half and took the game to them in the second. We adjusted, we never gave up, we almost got a result.
I've been a fan of Paulsen ever since he deputised ever so well for Sail a while back. He needs support and he needs to be celebrated. But he also needs a good kick up the rear from the old boys. I can live with a fluffed shot, that can happen to everyone, but to gift a goal like that after we ad worked so hard for an equaliser - for no reason whatsoever - is a real teachable moment.

Sydney been smart and patient, we've gifted them the points tonight. Hopefully some lessons learned. We mustn't forget it's still a young team.
But yea that sucks lol.

Rubbish. He has been a great coach for the Nix and now he has moved on. All the best to him.
Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Think Kosta tried too hard this week. Obviously wasn’t quite where he was last game. Needed to look for simpler options. Great work from Van Hattum to lay it on for him.
We didn’t do well enough with our attacks and Rufer wasn’t at the races in the first half.
Sutts or Kelly-Heald? Neither the finished article just now.
And for all Old’s tricky feet- how many good shots on did he get or make? Remembering that’s what wins the games. Shifting the ball quickly and securely. Making good chances. Getting Tim ‘Ronaldhino’ Payne into the game.
Are we all away games now? What’s our next few on the schedule?

Contrary to some overexcited posts here, we did not "gift the three points to Sydney". The second half was way more even than the first half horror show, but we were not necessarily a better team - an equal one at best. We matched them well from about 50th minute, and I was wrong expecting the press to continue.
Yes I am gutted for the poor clearance that allowed Fabio to win the ball and pass it to Mak. But losing 2-1 away is not as bad as getting pasted 0-3 at home by Newcastle Jets.
Congrats to Italiano for getting us sorted at halftime, and to Talay for lifting Sydney performance after a poor start to the season. We have some tough games on the road coming up, and that is why the loss to the Jets was way worse than this entertaining game.

We have Adelaide away next Thursday, always tough to get any result there.
Then against Perth (in Sydney) for unite round, hope for a win there.
After that back home against the victory.
Would be amazing to get 4 points from the next 2 away games to bring back to Wellington.

I think benching Kelly Heald today was the right choice. He would not have coped with the high press well, too inexperienced. Sutton was overrun often, but played very cleanly (and should not have got himself into an argument with Ali Reza, as that usually ends with a yellow pretty quickly).

What I am saying is that statistically Sydney was way more likely to score again at some point in the game. It could have been worse than 1-0 at halftime, honestly.
To be honest though I am tearing my remaining hair out, as we speak. We were so close to a lucky draw.
Edit: yes, I missed the fact we were 3-1 down. Dear me.

I know none of the spam comments on Instagram are actual nix fans and they're all gambling addicts raging that their multi didn't pay out, but good grief it's still sickening seeing our players get racially abused. Fudgeing cowards

As fustrating as it is, we have only lost 2 games. I am hoping that the victory will draw and we could remain at the top.
Paulson had a brain snap re conceding that goal but he is only human too.
Surely now Chief will gather the troops and consider this as a blimp.

He saw out his contract with us, and with no assurances of his next job he didn't poach any of our players.
He's just the coach of the team that beat us.

Yeah the mods have wiped it. It was on the post for Kosta's goal, had about 80 comments which ranging from hilarious ranting in pidgin English to genuinely awful racial slurs. One even commented AP's @ so they could all abuse him personally. Gambling and social media makes for a f.ucking vile combo

Yeah, a bit of a strange game. I liked the energy, both team wanted to win. Sydney a bit dirty with a lot of shirt pulls to destroy the attack, I’m all for more yellows and 5min sin bins for this kind of crap.
We should have a plan B in the first half to kill their pressing. But you can’t really mad at anyone, everyone worked hard and Old is just amazing to watch, I’ll enjoy as long as it lasts.
