Great start by the lads. Could be 2-0 up already!
Rufer hitting the heady heights of 3 goals in a season. He'll be starting to feel dizzy if he keeps this up.

All day I was hoping to myself "geez wouldn't it be great if they didn't have their typically jittery opening to the match."
That will definitely settle the nerves. Rufer's on fire!

both sides looking up for this, already heaps of attacking intent.

Great block by Wootton on the line.
Completely set up by Pennington with that crap back pass.
Really open game so far. But probably too open for Chiefy's liking.

Rufer with some lovely footwork to set up Kraev.
This is easily his best season.

Both defences look shaky. Could be a high scoring result here…

The game has settled down to a slowish pace, both sides unable to really break through consistently.
Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Yep sorry dude, I’m not getting it either. It’s there, but I can’t see it. Sent an email yesterday, but no answer yet.
Feels like someone being a prick somewhere because we’re still getting the Liberty A league as you said.

probably cos the ref seems to be favouring us with the 50/50 decisions, which rarely happens.

How about that little backwards lay off by Kosta to Rufer. Brilliant but ended up putting Rufer under pressure.

If we can just find our range with our passing out from the back to both Pennington and LKH there is masses of space to be exploited.
There's been about 3-4 times now when Newcastle have pressed really poorly when they try to jam Surman and Wootton, but the ball out from us to break the press is just lacking. Just needs to be a little better/in front of the man and the field just opens up.

Jets really letting themselves down with reckless aggression. Just gonna get themselves into trouble.

That challenge from O’Neil there looked meaty. Pat Wood must feel peeved when you see similar challenges from this round alone!

Fudge me I hate it when we get the ball into their box only to not even bother with a shot and pass it all the way back to our keeper

Both sides doing well in the pointless back and sideways passing counts.

Genuine question. What happened to the squadron? There’s about a dozen spotty youths where they used to stand. Is the active support elsewhere now?
I know, I know, its serious!

Great save from Paulsen, that was a floating knuckle ball shot that could have gone anywhere.

I'll take a 1-0 lead. DEfensively we've looked ok, the back 5 working well and transitioning into a back three ok attack is working well too. Would be great of we could pinch a second early on in the second and then I reckon the Jets will fall away. They alredy look like they are fighting against themselves more than us.

Would love a replay of kosta's 1-1. Missed most of it during the live coverage

I don't want to be too negative but we've got an A league with the top side defending in a 5-3-2 and scoring only from penalties.
Not entirely true of the season, as a whole, but you can see why the League is in trouble.
I'll take it, but I'd like to see us back to where we were during our best spell of the season when we were scoring some great goals. Though even then most games were tight.
