wait, why is that not a pen to us?
I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.

Dunno if I want Piper to calm down or step it up even further!

What is up with Hughes?

Ishige should not be on the wing, if anything he needs to be central - but he'd need to get stronger on the ball..  Has no pace.

Oluwayemi has made some spectacular saves, but also quite a few blunders leading to goals and big chances.
Understandable that Italiano would try the other keeper. Hopefully with his height he'll dominate the goal area.

Have to wonder if a mutual termination has been considered there too. Wasting an import spot on a keeper sitting on the bench is almost worse than on a 35 year old not playing.
at one point we had a 35 year old import goal keeper on the bench so at least we've improved there.

Hughes is weird because he's generally solid but it's like he broke a mirror or something and has 9 years of bad luck

And good luck terminating someone we just gave a fudgeing extension to

Has Nagasawa touched the ball?
When he does touch the ball he likes to lose it

Still not at all convinced by the Japanese imports.

Ishige is looking pretty bad too tbh, flaps at the ball a lot but rarely produces anything

Nagasawa and Ishige have to do better. Everyone else is stepping up and they continue to shark the bed.

Absolutely

I've noticed Retre looking like he actually gives a shark this game which is nice

This is a situation for them both to step up and they don't seem to have the capability

Nagasawa loses it yet again. I can't believe how bad his touch and passing consistency is for a Japanese player

Just don’t think the Japanese imports are suited at all to the A-League. I think you have to be that step above technically to make up for the lack of physicality or you’re like Ibusuki who’s 6’3 and has done well in the A-League

He's been generally good in sharke teams this season but he's getting a little predictable cutting inside to no mans land

Well, what a difference so far.

We're in the match and taking it to Sydney. Win or loss, it doesn't matter. At least we are giving ourselves a chance now, rather than sitting back and defending the whole match.

Got to continue to stay focused, Sydney have been the most dangerous in the second half.

Yep been level at HT in the last two games and won 3-0 and 4-1... a pass mark first half for us but still much to do

Also came back from losing 3-1 to Adelaide at Hindmarsh in the 80th minute to draw 3-3.

We gave Roy ages to get used to the league.

If we’re not paying Zawada or Kraev wages then we have to try and find advantages where we can.

Ishige clearly has got chops, but we need to find that killer moment more regularly. He’s got to work at when to be strong and when to look for contact etc.

Nagasawa and Retre aren’t Scrappy Doo. Retre’s been okay, but well below Rufer’s standard. They’re getting a lot of cover from the defense when it should be the other way around.

Acceptable half, but Sydney finish well and have plenty of gas.

There was fight and a bit of hunger from the lads that first 45, and what a difference it makes!

Even if we were under the pump, we at least managed to create a few half chances as well. We're obviously fairly limited, but good to see more passing going forward. Even if it doesn't come off, it's giving Sydney pause for thought at least.

Sutton & AKH very good that first half. Loving Piper's physicality and bumping over smurfs too. 😆

Feels like we’ve finally worked out which end we’re supposed to send the ball to.

And whatever behind the scenes drama there has or hasn’t been with Ball, seeing him here smiling in the zone was a classy moment.

Sheridan.

Don’t like this Piper at RB business. His feet aren’t good enough. Already he’s putting the CB under the pump.
