So we have the men's and women's teams playing at exactly the same time??? Brilliant

Luckily they scheduled them at two different venues.
Although that was probably more due to playing different opponents than good management on behalf of the organisers.

Sorry mine is 24 hour looking at mine though and doesn't both say they are staring at 8pm NZT? For the womens game they don't have pre match thing the coverage always just starts 5 mins before kick off

yeah so womens comverage starts at 7:55pm so kick off at 8pm? maybe later? I'd guess 8pm NZT given it's scheduled to finish at 10pm

Yea, and I know I am watching the men game that start at 7pm NZT then do the thing where you can go back along the guide and then click on that to watch something earlier (so will do that with the women) I was just bringing it up given both are kicking off at 7pm NZT but coverage on Sky Sport is actually later for the women?

Errr No.

Sky 7 shows coverage starting at 18:30 (6:30pm) with presumably 30 minutes pre match.

Sky 9 shows WUN-WEL coverage starting at 19:55 (7:55pm) with presumably 5 minutes pre match.

The women's game was orginally scheduled for 8pm but was moved forward an hour thats why sky have it starting at 8pm. I'd assume they'll fix that before the game but who knows

https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/350179981/youstin-salas-set-wellington-phoenix-debut-against-macarthur-fc

Both the Phoenix and Macarthur enter Sunday’s meeting on seven-match unbeaten runs, having each managed three wins and four draws since January 2.

Italiano said he was expecting it to “be a match where it won’t be decided early”. “It will be a bit of a grind from both teams. I think they’ll respect us.

“The last game the dynamic was a little bit different, we played more of a counter-attacking game, where we felt they had some weakness.

“I feel they've evolved, so we’ll try something a little bit different.

The great thing about being 5 points ahead of CCm is that no matter what happens tonight we go into next week still top of the legaue, despite all the injuries.
That leads into Perth away - which is traditionally tough, but they like WU are dogsharke.

With Pennington and Kraev now out, surely Salas will get a start..excited to see what he can bring to the table.

Apparently not. According to Voreman. Salas Zawada Pennington and now Kraev will only feature off the bench. Kraev the latest with an injury niggle.
So could be a starting lineup like this?
Paulsen
OVH - Hughes - Surman - Wootton - LKH
Rufer - Al-Taay
Kosta - Ball - Old

This is going to be tough.

Tough opening 60ish minutes I think. But with guys like Zawada, Kraev and Salas off the bench and the fact Macarthur played in Asia this week I think if we can keep it at 0-0 until that point we should get some late on

IIRC, MacArthur played their cup fixture midweek at home, but correct me if I am wrong.

Yes, but they had 61% possession, and the other team had 11 shots, none on target. I'm not sure we can consider that a strenuous match...

Nah Glory are now a form team. Unbeaten in their last 5 games, 3W & 2D.

Perth are on a 5 game unbeaten run right now... Stajcic has them purring.

Only because RR highlighted Perth's run in another thread. But yeah both today & next week are going to be tough, with so many starters out.

But Chiefy & Griffiths seem to be getting the best out the team, grinding out results, no soft goals etc. That mentality will be needed these 2 games.

Hopefully Salas is a valuable addition to that game plan. Think he will be, but is always a higher risk of a dangerous mis hit pass when you have little English and are still getting to know your team mates and the team structure. Maybe he can throw a few Espanol expletives Davila's way.

So they are due for a downturn in form?

https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/350179986/depleted-wellington-phoenix-teams-kicking-same-time-sunday

Phoenix general manager David Dome said this week that while it was a disappointing turn of events, there was little the club could do.

“We did try. We did ask the question. But we’ve asked a number of questions all throughout the season.

“We got the women’s game moved (last week), we’ve had other games moved, we had a Waitangi Day match dropped in on a Tuesday afternoon at four o’clock. We’re still asking questions about once the Capital Football season starts, not playing games in the early afternoon.

The reality is you can’t get everything you ask for. You have to pick your battles.”

Mo Al-Taay needs to step up today. He needs to be a real ball winner...  🤞
Rufer and LKH will do a good job for sure.

No Payne, Kraev, Pennington or Sutton. This is going to be a tough ask. Kosta and Old will have to play blinders today to get us on the scoresheet.

Match delayed and kick off TBC due to thunderstorms...
For those of us watching on YouTube, what are the odds of the steam cutting out early - at the scheduled finishing time? I'm afraid quite high...

Can someone give us a bell when they kick off? Watching the women until then...also, what are the odds of the game being cancelled? I must say, with all the injuries we're nursing, it wouldn't be the end of the world

I reckon they could kick off as late as 7:30 - 8pm. Doubt it will get cancelled. Downright stupid that they have scheduled two A League games today with the same kick off time anyway.

7:45 kick off. Also, I'm quite surprised that there are so many non-english or ESOL speakers interested in this game.
