What the hell was that free kick? Just gave them back possession.

That incident begs the question of whether there is a pen hierarchy at the club.  You'd think it would be set in stone but clearly it's not.

Wayne should not have taken it upon himself to step up for the pen. Young grasshopper's got a lot to learn.
Stepping up for a pen as a young player takes a lot of confidence, shouldn’t undermine that. Especially considering Waineo is much more prolific than Reno in front of goal

Points should have already been in the bag- disappointed in our discipline today

Lot of subs so understandable but we do look quite ragged in midfield now.

Prolific in front of goal doesnt mean you can take penalties - he let himself down twice.  Once by taking the penalty and then again not following up

That pens as much on the coaching staf and reno as it is on waine.

There should be a clear order from the coach (if there is and reno or ben weny against it then thats really poor from onr of them)

Reno should not have been getting into his teammates head and storming off when hes on the spot

reeks of not being a team player. Could've cost us a win.

Great to get the win and keep our streak going BUT had Taylor still been there we would have had two clean sheets in the bank.

Have a great night boys and girls.  Enjoy the win.

Well done boys, ugly but a real confidence booster considering so many newbies in there.

A fudgeing win.
A unnecessarily stressful win, but a win.

Wow. We won. I still don't feel like we have yet but played very well in patches. Showing that we are a young team though, especially in defence.

Very lucky win, pathetic pen kick but over all a nice escape at the end.

It was ugly at times but a win is a win is a win. And how about that 13 game undefeated Streak?

2-1 I'll take it, great to see Hooper scoring again, and Sotirio against his bunny team.Interesting, although not surprising, to see Rufer subbed. Thought Pennington did well, as did Old. Think Waine and Piscopo need to work out who takes the pens if Hooper isnt on the field. Waine scores that if Piscopo isnt having his tanty.

We won! 🔥
Could've been a lot easier on the old heart at the back end there if Waine had buried that pen.

I'm sure there will be some words between the two, and they'll sort it out.

Always gives me the sharks when we sit deep trying to protect a result like that. You can almost sense the creep backwards we take whenever we hit the lead.

Good result though lads. We go again next week! 👏

It was a shark pen and lacked any conviction in a follow up.

Four points after two games. Not bad, considering the squad we have and the opposition we've faced. Still, roll on New Year's reinforcements!

Mariners did enough for a draw, and on another day probably would have won, but showed good resilience.

Good win, was proper nail biting stuff towards the end. Was worried when I think it was Fenton didn’t clear at the end when he had the chance to (tried to dribble it out of a congested area) but they didn’t manage to capitalise fortunately.
We played some good stuff in the second half but I’d say it’s clear we lack a bit more experience maybe? Or quality? Not sure what it is but it feels like something is missing.
Anyway, it doesn’t matter right now, 3 points and unbeaten in 13. Cannot argue with that.

Well in lads. Big win!

Need to sort out who’s our next pen taker after Hoops tho. Always cringe when I see players fighting over penalties.

yeah no they didnt. They scored from a defensive screw up and got lucky not to concede a pen, thats the only reason it was close. On another day it probably should have been 3 - 0. They were restricted to long shots from outside of the box.

Good, but minimum if we have any ambitions this season. MAC and Mariners are weak imo. It will get much tougher than that

Hmm apart from Hoppers shot and Sotirios goal, I don’t remember us creating many chances either..they lacked composure as much as we did

Perhaps the pen argument demonstrates the fact you need an outfield captain on the pitch

We earned that. It was gutsy.

Old came on and did well, good to see Fenton back too, Pennington needs more time with the squad but has got the oil.

Daddy Ball needs to bang Waine and Piscopo's heads together imo.

As always, this thread doesn't disappoint in the negativity stakes.
Yes, it was a flawed performance, but despite that, the xGs for the match (yes, also flawed) were 2.32 to 0.93 to the Nix (Fotmob), so that's encouraging.
Also encouraging, is that there is both a lot to work on and a lot to like (and we have 4 points in the bag) ... and a fixture list that builds in intensity.
So far, so good.

I know, I know, its serious!

Missed the peno drama somehow! Toilet break I think.
Great! 3 points.
Hooper 2 from 2. Sotirio chiming in. Managed a couple of beers.
Bloody decent.

Waine needs to be dropped, his selfish act cost us a goal and overall he was pants same with Laws costing us a goal like that was just stupid.

The pen wasn't badly taken, the only crime for Waine was that he didn't try and score from the rebound.
Piscipoo needs a good talking to.
Anyway, top of the league with reinforcements to arrive isn't a bad feeling at all. The team has the right fortitude.

Loved the video of Uffie coaching Louis after the final whistle. That’s something I want to see. A coach getting the best he can and more from each player and the team as a whole.
Nervy about playing the more cashed up clubs, but I’m guna think about that again in a couple of days.
