WPM R22 vs Brisbane Roar | Sun 31st Mar | 1:00pm | RoF / Sky Sport 1
Great time & date for me tho. En route from Auck thru Wngtn to the Sth I
Down for New Plymouth for an event on the Saturday night so am naturally trying to coerce the partner to come along with the 5 month old (who loves watching the yellow kits on the tele btw!)
Considering how good they were to us back when FFA tried to give us the boot
Great idea. The Newcastle Jets have also had a good few Kiwis in their ranks over the years which is good for NZ Football. I have zero stats to back this up but am going to guess one of the highest numbers in the league for Australian teams.
And Andrew Durante was a Jets player when their won their title, wasn't he?
These next two games I think will define whether we can win the whole god damn thing.
It's nice to talk but don't worry. We'll beat Brisbane, Sydney will beat CCM, we'll beat CCM and we'll be 9 points clear at the top with 3 or 4 games to go. We've just got to enjoy the ride....
We will win the league... 99.9%

I'll bet my house that we'll win the league from where we are. The next two games are a piece of cake. The Sydney game was the tough one. That's done. I've already bought the champagne 🍾...

Brisbane I would've been a lot more confident about beating before Zadvokic came in and they signed Jelavic and Rojas they've been a lot better since they came in. Though their away record is awful and our home form is the best so we should win.
CCM away is going to be a tough match theres no denying it we can maybe hope that with it being their 3rd game in a matter of days and with an eye on the AFC cup that it can swing in our favor but I wouldn't wanna bet on that game.

Certainly in that first round after the break if the Nix beat Brisbane, and the Mariners lose away to Sydney, the Nix will be strong favourites to clinch the title. They would then be 6 pts clear of CCM (yes with game in hand).
CCM have a very tough April with a catchup ALM game hosting Melb City, 3 days after SFC, then another 4 days later hosting the Nix. Then a trip to Western U, and then the long haul to Kyrgyzstan. Those 5 games plus long haul travel all in 18 days. Tough, very tough.
So the Nix are not the only club that could have some tired players, first game back.
Olyroos Squad includes -
CCM - Alou KUOL with Jacob FARRELL ruled out injured
Roar - Thomas WADDINGHAM
Then the Socceroos are playing Lebanon home & then away, in Beirut. CCM's Josh Nisbet has just been called up to replace an injured Lewis Miller. So he's going to be doing some air miles the next month.

LATAM has $500 return flights. Edit: that’s from Auckland lol
Yar looking about $700 return from Wellington.
Assuming we make top 2:
If we place second, do not fly to AUS for the first leg of the semi final, as you may need to fly there again for a likely CCM hosting grand final if we advance.
If we place first, I will fly to AUS for the first leg of the semi, as if we win we don’t have to go again, and will have a GF at home if we win.
This is me personally as I only have the funds to go over once.
Gotta assume Salas starts in a back four? If Chiefy wants a back five, LKH to move inside?

Socceroos aren't playing in Beirut, for obvious reasons.
They're playing it in neutral territory.
Canberra.
Canberra as a 'neutral' venue. Is that because even Australians don't like to visit the place?
Socceroos win game one against Lebanon in Sydney, 2-0.
Rowles & Keanu Baccus the goals.

Based on last night's showing, the Nix boys are just in Cairo as ballast. Hope Baze proves me wrong.
The Jets and Glory have had the most kiwis in the A League aside from the NZ Knights and Nix. Was better for NZ football before Aussie moved to Asia, turning us into foreigners.
Rufer to CB? Hope he doesn't pick up an injury as well.
New Zealand and Wellington Phoenix defender Finn Surman has been left out of Wednesday’s All Whites squad to play Tunisia after suffering an injury in training.
If he's not fit surely Kelly-Heald is the next cab off the rank at CB? Played there his youth career and we have Sutton ready to go at LB.
Did Rufer travel in the end as a late inclusion?
Did Rufer travel in the end as a late inclusion?
Yeah Rufer is in Egypt. Good thing the Roar is a home game, and so playing a back 4 is most likely. Following game away to Mariners will be tricky if both Payne & Hughes are still out.
Chiefy will want all of Salas, Wootton, Surman, LK-H & Sutton fit for that as he'll likely want to play a back 3/5. Though CCM will be playing their 3rd tough game in a week (SFC, Melb City & Nix), which will help.

Looks like he's been opened up on that right side of his forehead.
Still got his photo op with the squad at the pyramids though. Nice little jaunt before flying out.
#AllWhites coach Darren Bazeley on the injury suffered by @WgtnPhoenixFC centre back (and ever-present starter this season) Finn Surman, that has him flying back early from Egypt

Bazeley sounded confident Surman would be ready to the Phoenix's match v Brisbane on Sunday pic.twitter.com/QpL9cmgpRd
What‘s Zawada injury status? He would be handy coming in the last 30min.

We're excited to be teaming up with Budget to run a boot drive at our Phoenix matches on the 30th and 31st of March!
We're asking the Wellington community to donate all their pre-loved boots for redistribution to… pic.twitter.com/uJJOgNUgeS
^^ Just a reminder, if you have any old sets of boots laying around the place.
If we win you'd think there'd be a psychological blow to the CCM who fall behind while having a heavy schedule to deal with.
