Guessing Sutton moves into midfield with McGarry starting at LB?

Italiano (not Mambo) keeps the managers hat with Uffie still under covid protocols.

Can we pick up our first win on the road this season?

Have the Phoenix not been "on the road" all season?

If this rain continues I doubt we will be playing.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

We haven't won an away game this season.

Only the FFA cup games we won in Melbourne I guess. Crazy stat though, when every game is basically an away game.

Is it still raining there in Brisbane?. From this side of the ditch seems like you've had shark weather there all summer.

I wonder if that means the game is forfeited. The APL has said that any new game postponed due to covid will be a no result, but the reasons behind it (the fact that there isn't enough time in the season to re-schedule games anymore) still apply to any other postponement.

Best scenario for the Nix is a postponement and for the season to be extended by a week.

There's no way a team will be defaulted because the pitch is unplayable.
It would be another headache for the the people doing the schedules!

Our style of play has been pretty lackluster. For most of the season, we have been playing on the counter. We've become too predictable to be honest.

I think without Piscopo we've definitely set up to counter more. But once we have him back you have a front 4 of Piscopo, Sandoval, Ball and Waine all very capable of playing with their feet and holding up the play so maybe then we'll start to see a more possession-based performance

I agree that apart from that purple patch when we had a settled lineup working like clockwork we have been generally lacklustre, but I think lacklustre-but-plucky might be the best we can hope for now with so many key players gone.

Piscopo will make a difference but it will take him time to get back up to speed and with the tight schedule we don't want to break him again.

We aren't going to see much in the way of dashing football, rather we will be aiming to pinch enough results to get us over the line for the finals. It's like a replay of last season: hoping like hell we are still in the mix for our NZ home games so that the fans get to see the team, the team gets to play in front of the fans and the club gets to make a little bit of cash out of yet another dud season.

40 points usually makes the finals. So we need 16 points from our last 10 games.

To be fair on Pennington, it wasn't just a goal, it's been his delivery that's made possible our last 3 goals.

With Lewis and Rufer out, Pennington is set to be joined in central midfield by either 18-year-old Jackson Manuel or left-back Sam Sutton for their next game, against Brisbane Roar in Redcliffe on Wednesday.

The Phoenix will be without Talay, who remains in isolation until Friday, but attacker Reno Piscopo has recovered from the calf injury that has sidelined him since February and will be among the substitutes.

Poor giveaway at the back there. Almost allowing Ivanovic to curl one around Oli, need to wake up! - we're very flat on a pretty heavy looking pitch.

They're finding a lot of space down Fenton's side. Really need to tighten up. Getting a lot of crosses in, sooner or later one might actually connect...

Hahaha football you gotta love it. If Ben Waine wasn't in the way Surman woukd have had his first goal. Barest of margins but hope they still allow it.

Does McGarry have Aussie citizenship or something? Commentators mentioned links with him to Brisbane earlier in the season. Would be an interesting visa signing for them!
