The Nix playing away in Melbourne, this won't be pretty.

Yeah, I've got no expectations for this one tbh.

Just don't let it be embarrassing boys please.

We play better against good teams. We have a full squad, I think we will win this.

Adelaide are arguably the best team in the league at the moment and we got smashed lol. To be fair we didn’t actually look 5-1 bad.

I picked a loss for the Adelaide game and I'll pick a loss for this one too. It will probably be similar to the last time we played city. Melbourne city to score a few in the first half/early in the second with the phoenix fighting back mainly in the second half - a cracking game 3-2 to City.

Start well and we can match them, concede soft goals early and it will be all she wrote pretty quickly

True, we did not look 5:1 bad, but Adelaide looked 5:1 good.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Should’ve been a 4:4 draw. Lackaday!

The Phoenix can look really good when they do play in a positive manner - we've got to be more creative from the back though, if our defenders have good space in front of them they need to use it well, run at the opposition with urgency, either draw a player then pass, or draw the player & execute a one-two, or beat a player.

Our blokes need to defend much better in our danger zone - we tend to get caught out flat-footed too much in our box, defenders have to make sure they have the mindset to stay on the balls of their feet, so they can move quickly in any direction.

No matter what happens, we're still losing today.

If we don't play with far better urgency/focus & commitment we will get done.

Weirdly optimistic we could snatch a result here, city form last few games has been average they really seem to miss Leckie and Van Der Venne. Will still be tough but maybe we can grind out a result off some Zawanda magic

The pitch doesn’t look in great shape as well which maybe benefits us? As City play possession football. Route one to Zawanda all game will probs be our play.

same - need Zawada to finally score more than 1 in a game

Wooton out means we might see Boxal get some mins as sub for Laws or Payne especially with no Surman on the bench.

It looks worse than the Ring of Dirt!!

Ooooh Rufer! Great run to the back post there, just needed Zawada on the end of it instead! 😅

Have enjoyed us getting back into the game the last 7-8 minutes. Let's hope we can back our efforts up with a goal!

What is it about Bally that he attracts potential red card challenges that don’t even get called as fouls?

Sasse has been bright so far surely a goal coming for him
almost 3 years ago
Of course it's Maclaren.

Why is Rufer holding his hands out? If he tracked his man all the way, they wouldn’t have scored.

Amateur.

....or you know McLaren can score that's cool too

Seemed we’d been giving far too good an account of ourselves!

*sigh*

If we had the same squad at the start of the season I’d still be extremely hopeful. We’ve had a fairly well balanced side this season and we started with Ben Waine too! If we had Jaushy or Reno…Surely getting a title with us would have done more for them than whatever they’ve done at Newcastle…

We seem really good at passing to them tonight. While I’m all for tactical innovation, I am a traditionalist when it comes to who you pass to.
I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.

Kosta does sometimes. But when Sasse goes wide he’s guna buzz it back across or chip it. Either way a front post run is going to be valuable.

Was it a foul on Zwanda, not sure he had full control, but certainly was taken out by a player not in full control IMO.
How was that not a penalty for Zawada or not even checked by VAR.
