If anyone isn’t travelling but has spare tickets I will happily take off your hands. Driving up Friday and Keen to try get some Auckland mates to come along with me! Cheers
Yeah thats right no Rufer,Lewis,Hooper out Ball on one leg. Hopefully no injuries from Sunday you must be right no excuses at all. Thankfully some of their fans are prepared to cut them some slack.
I mean that’s all and good, but a week we beat nearly top of the table Western United 4-1 with the same team as Sunday… so they’re clearly capable beating anyone on their days, Western Sydney are a poor team will play on Wednesday, we will have a week break and at home… I feel like this mentality is why we as a club never reached a grand final, never win a trophy and aim just for the top 6.. If were serious about finals (which i think we should be) this is a game we must win and have several factors that favour us
Surely this is now must win and no excuses territory..
Same ridiculous statements you're making on FB. No excuses? Seriously? How would you cope in the same situation? Would your performances bee consistent? Would you not struggle with the constant instability or lack of depth in your team caused due to injuries and illness?
The main thing is the guys have fun, enjoy each other’s company, and the fans have fun. That’s all that matters in this club at times for fans at times… Their injury list includes Rhys Williams, Keannu Baccus, Tomer Hemed and Phillip Cancar, 4 first team players, same as us but okay only nix suffer from injuries Covid and instability theprof

Where are WSW sitting on the table? 10th!! having not won a game in their last 5. Sure all clubs have injuries and suffered from the COVID effect but none have had to relocate the entire organization to another country leaving families and fans behind. I get where you think you are coming from - winning is important, sure! But you have to be able to temper you're expectations with certain facts are presented. COVID impacted our recruitment more than any other club, We have therefore had to rely on our academy players more than we'd like to. Not being able to play in our home stadium for 2 years (excluding two games) has an impact on the team morale, no matter how much of an influencer the manager is or how big the crowd is at the game - the impact of playing for home fans at your home stadium is important.
I get it.. it’s been rough for the club, but when we beat top of the ladder Western United 4-1 at their own home and have had wins against City and Victory, these academy kids and club is capable!! We know they can beat anyone on their day! I feel like we have this mindset of “it’s tough, ravaged by Covid, we have lots of injuries” as a way to protect us mentally if we lose.. credit to the team who are 5th despite these challenges and deserve plaudits, but I feel like some fans mentality of “it’s okay ww lost because there is lots of factors” doesn’t do the club and Ufuk justice. theprof

noone is saying it's ok to lose - we are just saying you have to be understanding. You cannot actually believe the team went out there on Sunday with the mindset of not caring and wanting to lose. This is clearly not true. Anything can happen and all we are saying is that it is really unfair of any fan to be accusing the team of not trying to win or not caring or just being plain terrible.
Not once did i mention they want to lose on purpose or them not caring, quite the opposite =) theprof

The Nix will be favourites, and fans should expect a win. They have a full week at long last to properly prepare. Uffie's himself mentioned that as a big plus. They get Sutton back. They will be hurting after their poor performance at the ROF. They know this is must win, with likely 5-6 points still needed to make playoffs, and 2 tough away games coming up in Victoria.
WSW meanwhile will only have a 2 day break before playing in Auckland (have the Jets midweek), and their season is effectively over.
But yeah the way some folks have criticised the Nix after that 4-0 loss on the weekend, is poor. Those fans who stayed & applauded the team post game did the right thing. It's been a truly shark time for the club for 2.5 seasons now. No other ALM club has been through as much as them. Only the Glory remotely close.
Expect a win this weekend, but cut them some slack if they don't in the end make the top 6. They've done way better than I thought they would.
Welnix owners give Talay what he wants next season, and yeah expectations should be high when go back to a normal H&A.

Absolutely this. Stayed back to applaud them as it's the first time i've been able to do that in over two years, and they bloody deserve it. Result was highly annoying, but not really the only thing about that day. Hopefully they get a reasonable crowd up there. Normally i'd say we should win no bother, but with the way things are, who knows.
If we want to make the Top 6, we absolutely must win this match . Uffie thinks we need at least 38 points to make it & WSW (H), MVC (A), WSW (A) + MCY (A) remaining. So if we don't get the points vs WSW, we probably don't make the Top 6.
I think it's going to be a struggle to get any decent crowd along to Eden Park. Holiday weekend; Auckland normally empties out. That 4-0 shellacking won't help. We're not talking about diehard fans here, this is asking Aucklanders to watch a Wellington team. The football diehards such as me and my mate will be there but the casual spectator? That's going to be a very hard sell. Sub 10,000.

Sorry, the Phoenix is not just a Wellington team. Many of us from around the country are proud to call the Phoenix our own. If Aucklanders won't come along after a year of having no pro football to watch, there is little excuse.
WSW have only lost 1 of their last 6 games. With 1 win and 4 draws. Perhaps not the 'easy' or 'we should win' result some people have been saying on here and elsewhere.
I'm heading up to the game on Sunday from Hamilton and sorting tickets atm, its such a racket charging a 'mobile delivery fee' of $5. Surely if they want to add a fee for their bottom line they could just build it into the ticket cost. I feel like the ticket prices have crept up a lot since the last time I went to a Nix game.
WSW playing a midweek match is nice. Both teams in the playoff hunt plus the fun factor of watching Rudan's face when we score... lots to play for in this one!
There’s been lots of chat, but our form has been average, particularly our finishing. WSW have got experience with Roswell and Troisi of the EPL and Serie A. Sutton back will be huge. Hoping he’s not too badly affected. We haven’t left ourselves with as much to do this season, but we’ve still gotta do it and the three losses in the last 5 haven’t made it straightforward. Big task for Uffie to get injured players back into the mix and reverse the concede=loss mindset which has occurred. Hopefully by scoring early and winning. Also hopefully there’s a decent traveling contingent from the 18k who turned out last week and they get treated to a big win! On ya Wellington.
You are right, you didn’t. I understand what you are saying and the Prof has gone off on a bit of a tangent. Both of you are right I believe. Edit: just re read what you wrote and i agree with your statement re the teams ability to win with our academy players. Your other stuff about having fun etc is bollocks lolNixieboys222

This particular game, more than most before in Auckland, will give us an indication on whether Auckland could sustain their own side in the A League. While there will be a little bounce provided by travelling fans from Wellington and the NZ return of the Nix, the current injury problems and on the back of a comprehensive defeat - only diehard football supporters will be turning up. If there is a good increase on the Wellington number, then there might be hope, otherwise I don't know.harrymc55

Optimistic ask to get a Wellington team to draw bigger crowd in Auckland compared to their home City.
Nix also came to Welly after back to back wins. That ain’t the case this weekend
Anything around 13-15k at Eden Park will be reasonable. Shame it clashes with last long weekend of summer/autumn, when alot will leave town, as with Easter in Wgtn
The Wellington Phoenix is a NZ team, based in Wellington... I know that statement will piss people off, but thats the reality... otherwise why take the games outside Wellington.
For non Wellingtonians like my self, I see this as our (NZ) team, not a particular city, much like the Warriors who rebranded when the realised this.

Hoping for a good crowd of around 15k.
primary reason the club take games to auckland is due to the sponsors being based in Auckland
They’re a Wellington team, and they’re NZ’s only team so it makes sense they’re embraced outside outside of their home town. The team’s connectedness to their city/community is what has really set them apart from Knights/Kingz. Branding wise anyway. Hope they never have a warriors style rebrand, I reckon that sucked the soul out of them. Blessed as an Aucklander that the Nix have been so kind as to share the love with us. Sales look encouraging. WSW look unpredictable. Can’t wait for the game.
If we concede a goal, it becomes a catastrophic defeat. Whether Rufer is DM or Pennington. This is simply because the DM is forced to push forward to chase the game then our defensive weakness is exposed. Payne is not a true center defender, Surman needs time to develop, Wootton (I'm unsure). If we score first then I'd bet, we'll win.
