Avoid the Darwin
All very Darwinian - survival of the fittest and all that.

"This is not mission difficult, Mr. Hunt, it's mission impossible."

Hoping we can start another winless streak for Brisbane tomorrow.

Must win if want to keep our chances alive of finishing 9th and avoiding the Darwin playoff. But if the Jets get a point tonight then that would extinguish those hopes anyway

At least Brisbane no longer have their home losing streak for us to stuff up!

We've looked better the last few weeks, so hopefully if we can play like that against Brisbane we might get the win?!

Also today could be a Darwin preview if nothing changes down the bottom of the ladder before the end of the season

Can't remember being this apathetic about a Nix game in a long time. Essentially nothing to play for. We have zero young exciting attacking players (you are kidding yourself if you think Piper or Walker or LBS are genuinely thrilling players). We don't have a player with x-factor like Rojas or Chico or Old or Ifill or Davila or Singh who is just straight up fun to watch. If we do win it is all very utilitarian. The best we can hope for is a defensively solid performance with a set piece goal and a Kosta counterattacking smash and grab style goal. When the win itself doesn't matter its kinda hard to get excited about the way we play.

I agree there is no Ifill, Rojas or even an Old, to get excited about when they touch the ball, but give it a rest on LBS. The guys a kid still but when he does get the ball I look up as there is skill there. He is one with another couple of years in a pro environment and if he can work on his speed, will be an excitement machine and by the age of 20 could be better then all the players you have listed there.

Maybe the potential is there, but right now he is not really a dangerous player or particularly exciting player. This year was too soon for the minutes he has got (not his fault I know)

At least Piper offers some physicality and can be a goal threat at corners.

He's still 16 and the youngest goalscorer for our club by almost 2yrs - which is a pretty decent list of talent

7 defenders. At least if things go wrong we have plenty of (relatively) attacking subs we can make. Nagasawa should be starting imo

I’ll agree with you on that one.

It doesn’t look like Chiefs contract extension has released inspiration.

I hope that next year we only have four defenders, maybe I would tolerate 5 but above all I hope the social media guy lists the players in formation order, as it is representative of the cluster fudge, that the club is experiencing at the moment.

Give that line up to a neutral at the moment and they wouldn’t know what the fudge is going on. Actually I don’t think the club knows as well.

At least when AFC list their team, you can see some order and what the team is trying to achieve.

One coach mentioned that he considered Piper the most attacking threat at corners in the league.

Fire Up! 🔥

Kind of interesting when you follow a team every week and still have no idea of the position 6 of the players will be in.

Still Phoenix till I die…

Cheers ears!

You got to be careful these days, though. People will begin to think Auckland comes first in your name for an obvious reason…

There’s no more truth in Manifest Destiny FC either!

I've read somewhere Sheridan was a midfielder in his youth/playing for Weenix. He's making a decent fist of playing at DM at the moment.  I think we can scrub him off the defender list for now, though yes long term he might yes end up at RB or even CB.

Just had a quick read. WTF. What’s even the point of buying a football club if you don’t want to put any money into it..

I'm fairly certain there has to be some money laundering involved somehow with that dodgy lot
