Big game for both sides this heading into the international break.. CCM yet to win (3 draws) and Nix want to bounce back after a derby loss...

Honestly I don't feel completely hopeless going into this game. They just had a goalless draw with Perth, the team with the worst defense in the league. Meanwhile we finally have guys like Rojas and Colakovski getting minutes. Not trying to be overly optimistic but I can see this being a bounce back match for us.

CCM are hardly the worst defence in the league, they've conceded 1 goal in three games. Compared to WSW (7) and Perth (8). In fact they are second best on the goals conceded behind AFC.

I think Noah is saying that perth are the worst defence :)

CCM may not have conceded much, but what have they scored so far this season?

We don't want them to start scoring against us that's for sure.

Just realised this game is straight after the Wahinix match.

All goods prof. To be more specific I was saying that their attack isn't exactly the most intimidating on account of not scoring a single goal against Perth.

Then again they're defence is definately something to worry about. Victory couldn't score against them which doesn't paint the best picture for us.

I am happy to settle for us not losing. It would feel positively inspiring.

Haven't seen the Mariners play a game but from last season they have lost -
Torres, Balard, Hall, Nisbet, Farrell, Vukovic & Barcellos

See that against Perth neither Roux or GF hero Edmondson  started.

They have only managed 1 goal in 3 ALM games.
19 yr old Bailey Brandtman & 23 yr old Alou Kuol started up front against Perth.

Journeyman Northern Irish midfielder Alfie McCalmont their main off season recruit.

You suspect they ain't the same team of last season. Jackson hamstrung by a owner looking to off load the club, and so not spend any serious money on recruitment.

CCM's defence hasn't been hurt by the departures but their attack has really suffered without Nisbet & Ballard.

Crucial game for us to keep in touch with the top of the table going into the International break.

Farrell also gave them a real attacking threat down that left flank

I see CCM have a match tonight against an AFC team.
Don't know if that's a good or a bad thing considering that they probably won't still be tired from it by Sunday, but I guess you never know. I'm hoping it doesn't fire them up like their congested schedule did at the end of last season...

Maybe if it was the other AFC...

I watched the highlights of their Asian Cup game and they have rallied well in front of a home crowd having to come back from two goals down. Both goals they conceded came from nice curling shots that the keeper could not get to.  They  eventually equalised in the last seconds of the game showing their usual fighting spirit.  I do not think they will be overly exerted ahead of the game against us.

Young Aussies Brandtman & Ngor off the pine with the goals. They both started against Perth on the weekend in a 0-0.

Older visa players Vitor Feijão & Edmondson started upfront last night.

Be interesting to see who lineups against the Nix, noting the Mariners have only scored 1 goal in 3 ALM games to date.

They have netted 6 goals in 4 ACL games, but conceded 10 times in that comp. 3L & 1D

This could be an entertaining game. Both sides will want to grab a win after dropping points in the opening rounds so far.

I can see it go either way

Interesting that Conchie hasnt travelled...... and not listed as injured. He's been one of the better players in the midfield.

Yeah, agreed on this point. Mustn't fit in with Chiefy's game plan for this one

That is curious, unless he is planning to play Retre in the same spot.

I struggle with Conchie and Al-Taay because Rufer is the number 6 therefore when we're pushing forward you expect Al-Taay/Conchie to push forward, which they do but they need to track back fast and every single time on the counter. They don't have it in their legs to do it. Ugarkovic was the same a couple of seasons ago.

They're all good footballers but in this position, they need to be able to run 13km in a game which is a very tough ask. Either that or they give it everything for 60 minutes and then they get subbed.

Against Auckland, I think Chiefy may have been concerned about Conchie showing for the ball. I think that's a stat he likes. It didn't look like Conchie had a great half from this point of view.

He's a young lad with a great future.

Conchie has show he has the pace to get back from a forward position in our earlier games. He's young, strong, pacey and fit. Al-Taay not so much.

Game day! I got it a 0-0 draw. Just looking at how we've both played the season so far I don't see goals being scored.

That being said if Kosta could deliver a hat-trick that would be greatly appreciated

i know ive been his biggest ditractor but I see rojas scoring a double today.

No way is Rojas getting a double today. Both Marco and Chiefy have made comments indicating he isn't even close to being able to play 90 minutes. He maybe gets 20 mins tonight, if he even appears at all.

Expecting a reaction in this one. Last week hurt, time to make up for that today.

CCM/MVC/AKL are our next 3 games, really need 3 points today ahead of those top of table games.

Forecast weather not bad for a 3pm KO. 23 degrees & 70% humidity. She's an ugly sticky day up here in QLD.

Still 23 degrees is warm enough for the subs to maybe be a bit earlier today, and play a part.

If Retre starts big ask for him to play more than 60 mins, in his first game. OVH has had very few mins to date. That may change today.
