Kosta hurt himself doing a completely unnecessary and risky challenge too, in the opposition's half and while up 3-0. Will be so frustrating if he is out for a significant period as a result
they're professionals...that's what they do. I agree though, it would have been better if had taken it easy..ironically, as soon ad we scored our 3rd, I was thinking who we should be taking off in order to avoid injuries...

With 3-0 up and Colakovski needing minutes, it might have been an idea to have subbed Kosta before then.

My thoughts exactly. I was thinking Rufer, Kosta, Ishige as soon as we score...chuck on Al-Taay, Cola and Marco/OVH. We still win the game and key players are preserved.

Been impressed by both Japanese tonight. Ishige especially could be one of the great Nix imports...has all the potential to get there.
Huges, Retre, Sutton all had good games.
Agree on Oluwayemi. Made some great stops and was assured with his feet and was a commanding presence in the box.

I might be getting a bit picky, but Kuol has been on the rugged side. A fair few late ones into the back of players and a couple of otherwise aggressive tackles.

Kinda wish we had a performance like this against the mariners last season tbh

Different game, different team. I wish we'd played this well last week vs Auckland though 😅

They were a much stronger team last season. Didn't help we were missing Rufer for that second game.

Great win before the international break, but some real worry for Kosta. Got some big games coming up against Victory and AFC.

Can't wait to watch that Ishige goal again.

Solid and some great finishes. Hopefully the confidence booster the team needed. Two weeks rest for Kosta please. Pull out of the internationals.

If it's not serious and Kosta missed the international window, he might be OK by the time we play MVC...
But now we really need to hear some good news. It looked pretty awful tbh and let's be honest, he's not a spring chicken.
Not sure it means anything, but once I did pretty much the same....and I ended up being fine...so let's hope some of my luck rubs onto him.

Good to hear Kosta in the post match saying he is fine and heading into NZ camp tomorrow.

Pathetic. Not apathetic.

Great result, can't complain about too much really. I'm still worried about how we'll hold up against teams with a high press, but for now I'm gonna revel in victory!

You'd hope Kosta will be on the bench for the All Whites if he's carrying something

I'd have given OVH a run instead.

What’s with Colakovski’s collar and him getting easily pushed off the ball? Very unconvinced by him.
Very much disagree - this was his best performance off the bench for us so far, and could've had a goal.

Ishige was by far our best today - he's really settled in now, and not just the free kick. Defensively, positioning-wise he was absolutely spot on. He fits this team better than Kraev ever did imo - Kraev was a good player, but could get dragged out of position quite easily.

What a win. Can't get better. Oluwayemi even had a better game, he only came out and missed one from a corner early on.

And still Rojas to come in. I thought Sheridan was the only one who wasn't quite at the level in the starting XI, but that's not a surprise, he's learning.

Thought Retre grew into the game and will be important this season. Positionally you could tell he's not quite on the same page yet, but if he does get there, he could be in the starting line up most weeks.

With his limited minutes this season I don't think OVH has taken his chances

We looked pretty blunt after Kosta went off. We need to get Rojas fit ASAP. "Coca" Cola certainly not at the same level.

Has anyone seen Rojas training at all? Is he looking sharp or is he now a spent force? He hardly played in SA for instance.

Has anyone seen Oly take a proper goal kick or a punt up field yet? He didn't today or against AFC.

He's hoofed them long many times but not out of the hands - we have a few midgets up front, that would be stupid

Amazing how a win can set you up with good vibes for the week.  I love this team! 💛🖤

That's the bounce back we needed.

Feel it couldve been more if we were a bit more clinical in front of goal - but we felt very dominant.

Good for  Oluwayemi to get a cleansheet to bolster his confidence a bit.

Maybe this is controversial considering what others have said, but I felt like Cola had some good touches, brought down some difficult balls with ease and ran at them - yes not much finished product there, but he has had limited minutes so it felt good to see him playing positively and wanting to create something.

3 points away from home, can't complain.

Also with the wind in Gosford it was a bit chilly with shirts off in the final 10, but can't really complain - always happy to have the excuse to whip them off

God who would've been silly enough to be seriously doubting Ishige after the first three games (it's me, I am the silly man). What a fudgeing performance

Colakovaki had his best game. But he’s not coming in and ripping the game up yet. Very much a work in progress. If we’d needed a winner or equaliser would you be happy bringing him on? And this was not a good Central Coast team. They were very poor.

If we needed a goal we would be forcing Rojas on. And in saying that, Cola still almost scored so

Great touch and persistence , but shot the one place he shouldn’t. Obviously a match sharpness thing or confidence. Hopefully that comes.

Didnt have that much time to shoot and the keeper closed him well, it happens. Has happened to Kosta many many times.

As a bench option, not sure there would be much better out the in the league

Well, that was fun. I feel a lot better now after the AFC loss. First win at CCM in three years. In many ways this match showed us what the coach is aiming for this season. We are still strong in defense. All the CCM shots came from outside the box. However with the addition of the two Japanese players we now show real skill and fluidity in attack. Some of the inter passing and movement was sublime.
It’s all still a work in progress and some of the imports need more time but we can be cautiously optimistic for the season.
Good work from Josh in goal. Showed he has the mental strength to bounce back from last weekend. I absolutely love Ishigi, he’s a great find. Sutton did a very nice impression of Vinicius Junior for his goal LOL. AFC we are coming for you!

I haven’t seen any trainings but he was very sharp vs Wellington Olympic in preseason.

Didn’t really get enough ball vs South Melbourne to tell in that game.

I'm not sure we can rely on Rojas with his injury history - anything he contributes will be a bonus, a bit like Zawada last year

I sort've think Ishige fills his role already, ideally, we'd have a different type of player there

Really cant see Chief changing what he said before the season started  about wanting to build a lot of his attack around Rojas. Only four games in really cant see  Chief changing that yet. Completely understand not throwing him back in before he is ready.
Bit early to passing judgement before he has even had a chance to show what he may have.
Chief has always said it will take time to get everything gelling yet seems some just dont hear what he is saying.

Good to win.
To be fair two out of three goals were a bit lucky, and on another day (last week?) none of them may go in.
We are not creating a lot of chances, we just 5 shots on target. And I was disappointed not to see Rojas for few practices minutes.

Great game to watch.  I am not sure which of their absent players CCM missed most (probably Farrell is the biggest offseason loss, plus Theoharis is out injured); but they appeared to be as pedestrian as we were against Auckland.
Ishige is a pure class and it shows that he is working out some understanding upfront with Kosta. The free kick though was all his own.
Disagree with the suggestions that we should have brought on several changes at once after we went up three nil.  Kosta needed to be subbed off because of the knee, and Retre did not have enough gas in the tank to last the 90 - Chiefy did the right thing by bringing on a fully fit Colakovski (against tiring defence) rather than a semi-fit Rojas and risk an injury.
Josh had a good game and saved a lot of relatively simple shots giving him good stats on the day.  Glad to see no horizontal passing in front of the goal line.
Not sure if anyone has commented on where Sheridan was playing  - he was more involved this time and looked quite useful.
A good game to watch and hope Kosta recovers well.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Also congrats to Sutts on his goal. It killed off the game. It was also a good reward for a game where he put a lot in.

Missing the kickoff-related: I wish Sky had a policy that when the ball is in play, the camera is on the play, and not on a lingering pan out of palm trees, coach reaction, player walking down the tunnel.
Many times goals have been missed, including last week nix v akl. But it's not just about the missed goals.

Just to add, Walker has looked very promising.

He was excellent in his first outing against Western United, perhaps less so in the two games that followed with some wayward passing but it is to be expected from a scholarship youngster.  Stoked that Chiefy is giving him time on the pitch; I also suggest that he was a better sub late in the game than Rojas at this point in Marco's recovery.
