sure the ball hit Payne's arm, I'm not sure he knew a fudge load about it though. always a handball under the rules, but you can hardly blame Payne for that.
Our problem is, and has been all season, we have no ability to effectively pressure the opposition goal. When the opposition know that, they are happy to let you pass it around etc because nothing will come from it. That combined with national league'esque level defensive fudge ups and you become the bye team for the Aussie teams each week. It's a tough watch.
Payne at CB gives me the sharks, every time he passes back to Sail it feels like they're gonna score
And as I type... He passes to fudgeing Tillio and we concede a handball
Some timing that
it was Lewis with the pass across field.
Payne's handball though

Yeah, a bit harsh to blame him but he put himself in the position to giveaway a penalty. Some on twitter think he could've been sent off.

that's a dire assessment. It's been a month of football and you sound like you're about to end it all.

ah the Twitterverse, always the place for sound reasoing and fair opinions, he did what he had to do to block a shot, he turned his back which he will regret, but from there he has no idea where the ball is and it hits him.

is it wrong though, because it seems like I just described the nix season so far.

it hasnt been the best for sure, but it's no were near the worst. For all of Uffes seasons we've started slowly, and still managed to finish in contention for finals footy - the season isnt decided in the first 4 weeks.
arms in an unnatural position, making himself larger that usual, sure they were in a nutural position for someone putting his body on the line, but his arm was extended from his body which is probably why the pen was given.
Lol 'it got away from sasse' - of course it fudgeing did, the guy runs around like a headless chicken. Uffy must be seeing leo fudgeing messi at training to let him on the field

They're letting us have the ball at the back, and then as soon as we try to advance they pounce. It's too congested in that midfield for us to pass through. Need to change it up because this is playing into City's hands.
Think Uffie needs to seriously look at this 4-2-2-2. It almost feels like it's becoming stale.

I wouldn't rely on that "strong end to the season" thing year in year out. Can't always trust in that happening like its a given. UT had 4 seasons here so far and bottled the start of each one. Not to mention making the finals and going out on a whimper falling at the first hurdle
What I don't get is how Leckie and co havent been yellowed for the fouls on Old.
Even the Aussie commentators agreeing with ya.
they are almost calling for the cards.
if it was nz commentary I would be assuming they just had my yellow tined glasses. But bloody hell if the Aussies are calling it out then you know we are being screwed.
Chuck a couple yellows in there and Melbourne is in a very different position.

think you're right, it doesnt fit the players we have, Kosta for one, isnt the wide playmaker anymore, he's more of an upfront striker, along with Waine and Zawada. If Ball is gonna play there too then you have 4 strikers with a couple of wider options, almost need to look at 4-3-3 or a diamond midfield.
We also have a really one dimensional attack. At the start waine got through a couple of times, but now they have just crowded the centre. We have tried to change or adapt to the fact most of melbs backline are clinging to waine.

now the cards are popping up..... you're right about out attack, Uffie plays for the counter with quick wingers and strikers pushing the backs around, we have the pace just not the shots at the moment. I love Waine and he works hard, but he's not a 15 goal a season man, Ball hasnt been that guy for us, for all the work he does. We usually create plenty of attacks but struggle to convert that to goals,
Well, the way I see it: Lewis was the only player who could have picked him up. He's one of two in the back two in front of the CBs. Sure, Pennington is the more defensive of the two but with four in front of Lewis he's got to do a job defensively. He tends not to, or to be late to react when he needs to.
