Chief will be glad we dont have to travel this week after hurting his back at golf.
Oh? Needs explanation! What, When & Where, How
Reckons he felt something go when he was using a driver, got the impression it was earlier in the week. Was funny his reaction when i suggested using the club physios and that the medicos would only prescribe panadol.

Definately the wrong thread to ask this but I'm not sure which one is, so I'm just gonna ask here. Are there any Nix youtubers I can watch?

Not sure there is any tbh.

That was always going to happen. It will further up north when they hit a bad streak - nature of the beast. I'm thinking around 6-7k IF the weather is fine.

All the media coverage has been on aucks which probably isn't helping. NIX need a couple good wins to bring people in.

Happens every year.

I don't know of any Nix centric youtubers.  Sounds like there is a gap in the market that could be filled.

Ball again omitted? Clearly on the outer with Chiefs plans. I'm wondering how long Colakovski is gonna get to show his worth off the bench before Bally gets his shot?

You'd have to assume at this point that Chief is happy Colakovski is giving something over and above what he sees Ball doing and is more deserving of a place in the squad.

I personally have to agree, I don't see any reason why you'd be dropping a player like Cola given his performances so far, he's not done much wrong and has contributed to goals in very limited minutes. Ball clearly hasn't been able to match that in Chief's eyes this season in training and in the reserves and I don't see any reason to doubt Chief's judgement on this. Cola was certainly a better performer in the A-League than Ball was last season and Bally is only slowing down.

I wonder if it's also a bit of football fatigue especially with the casuals? We had loads of hype with the 2 derbies recently. That's my concern anyway and it's seen across the league in Sydney and Melbourne. People show up for the derbies and it's only hard core fans left attending all other games...

Yeah, average punter will only be able to spend that spare money some many times. Especially so close to xmas.

just confirmation of what I had been told via an insta - basically Ball is fit, training in full - wants to be part of the gameday squad. Also agrees that he woul;d impact the game more than some of the current selections.

Of course he believes that, any pro player in his position that doesn't should be retired.

Doesn't mean he's right.

Well of course Ball is going to say that. Many 35 yr old footballers, after playing the game for 20 years, struggle to accept their careers are likely over. Like Nelfoos trust that Chiefy has his reasons for not picking him. It was obvious last season Ball was on a slide.

I mean you take out the 2 losses against top of the table Auckland, and Nix are tracking well with 3W (all in Aussie) and 1D

Happy 35th birthday tomorrow for David.

So we had two appalling derby games. We have a thinner squad than last season, we’ve been lucky with injuries so far and Chief isn’t keen on/ or able to figure out how to get use out of a couple of playing resources he has.

If it wasn’t for us and some lucky reffing against Sydney, Auckland could be 3-6 on the table. We’ve helped them to top spot.

And we’ve coughed up 4 defensive howlers against them that showed a lack of leadership. Josh a bit more culpable than others.

What has Chief said about Payne up front?

We’re doing worse than last year and we need to sharpen up.

We trust in Chief, but not blindly.

How’s Supyk been going? Ready to show us a bit?

Now officially Bally’s birthday in NZ, Happy Birthday.

He may not be in the matchday squad again, but let’s get it done for him this afternoon on his special day and produce another big response from a derby loss to Perfect FC. Show Macarthur how much we fudgeing mean business after losing a second derby!

Come on Phoenix!!

also apparently 11% of jobs in Wellington have been lost, so there isn't a lot of disposable income going around at the moment.

Crickey 11%. I didn't realise it was that bad. I can only imagine what it would be like in Hamilton if that many people suddenly lost their jobs.

Yeah. Actually not been living in Wellington for quite a while now, in Christchurch at the moment for work and family reasons, but I've been told by connections back up there that Lambton Quay and Courtenay Place which used to be buzzing back in the day have apparently become like ghost towns.

No? I don't go there often myself but whenever I do there's still plenty of foot traffic even on weekdays.

Idk, maybe they were packed like sardines back in the day or something but both are still very busy places

it was a double whammy with the big employers like Xero, the banks, spark, etc doing restructures this time last year and then the government cuts this year. But, the city doesn't seem too bad relativly. Most families would have been on double incomes and there's redundancy pay etc. definitely belt tightening will impact things like the nix though, even those who are employed will be weary about throwing money around in case their next.

Another big impact was on hospitality with more people working from home. Wellington has a big CBD for the population and that's because historically it employed and entertained multiple cities in the region. COVID changed that culture with the suburban eateries and bars are thriving but at the expense of the city.

Sorry should've been more specific, I meant in relation to the businesses and the number of them closing down or sitting vacant, particularly hospitality.

Interesting, is he a Wellington boy?

If not, why would someone go to Wellington in December on a break?

Possible there to sign?

He's a Palmy boy, but has strong connections to Wellington through Olé/Western Suburbs. Doubt very much we'll see him donning a Phoenix kit any time soon though...
