Just asking who is a better like for like replacement for Marco? Cola or Ball?
No slight to Cola, but Ball has better close control and can run an offense better.
Conceding more. Scoring less. Keeper is saving fewer. Don’t think it’s a Nagasawa issue lads. Tbf it’s not Ball either. I don’t know. Thought we were smashing them.
Though been happy by how Hughes and Olu have kept their head in the game.
Why did Chiefy replace Sutton with Sheridan? He's useless at LB
Yeah I thought Sutton should have stayed on, unless there was a niggle or something. Also, in hindsight, I thought that once he came on, Al-Taay looked better than Retre in the same position. Retre is solid, but Al-Taay seems to have a better awareness.
Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days
When we were good, we looked very good - but lapses in concentration mean we weren't consistently good throughout the match, and we gave them too many chances and too much time on the ball
Rojas was pretty gassed in the 2nd half and our creativity suffered in the 2nd when he tired and ultimately got subbed - we need someone to step up in creating dangerous attacks in his absence otherwise we are relying too heavily on 1 player
I think this one is a little bit on Chiefy again, though he is getting closer to figuring out what he should be doing with the players at his disposal.
Sheridan is a great player but he is a right back, and Chiefy has been trying to shoehorn into the team everywhere but RB all season and it doesn't work. Colakovski is useless, I'd rather have seen more OVH and Ball.
Maybe next week is time to try a different partner with Wootton, either Piper or even trying Payne there and putting Sheridan at RB. Worth a go when Hughes scores an OG and a pen giveaway in consecutive games.
Still, I am happy enough with that defeat. Rotten luck that the combination of us gifting them a pen, Kurto having an absolute blinder & us missing a bunch of great chances all conspired to see us lose but we are heading in the right direction.
And only one yellow card, very late, was piss poor. It only encouraged the filthy play by Brattan.
I thought it helped us earlier on though. Lots of their players went to ground dictating that they should have got a foul and he waved play on.
I thought the ref, Brattan aside was fairly good. The game flowed and he didn’t do anything mind boggling, the aforementioned Brattan card excepted. And he was consistent. No late flurry of cards for standards different to what he had set.

Not sure we are heading in the right direction. I think it was a worse performance than that against AFC (despite the loss then), or CCM or Perth. We played as bad as our first game against Western United which we should have won. Agree this one is on Chiefy. Sheridan is not a LB and we lost the momentum when Sutton came off. Rufer did step up at that time, but it was too late for by then. Apart from one brain fart too many, Hughes played OK and Josh did not have much to do today. Yes, it might be different if Rojas was fully fit, but i agree with others that David Ball would have offered more as a creative sub than Walker who was largely invisible in his short cameo.

Not happy at the performance but at least happy that our players aren't shameless cheats.
How the guy who goes down with cramp, gets up, walks onto the pitch and goes down with cramp again just when we're about to have a corner doesn't get a yellow card is beyond me. Not to mention the constant timewasting antics like Germain taking ages to get off the pitch then coming back on to give the sub a hug for several seconds.
The acceptance of this type of behaviour in their club makes you understand why they were ripe for the match-fixing scandal they had.
Hughes has been at fault for 3 goals in the last 2 games - I love the giving young guys a chance but at some point you have to establish standards and drop players who aren't performing well enough.

I have to disagree on Hughes a little. He worries me less than Josh. And (sometime defender’s union) as one of my friends used to say if you’re not giving away oggies occasionally you’re not doing it right. He is a calm defender and I have faith in him.
On another day the team has his back and we’re away laughing. Almost did today.
Sheridan was out of position, but contributed okay given that.
I have to agree on Colakovski. If he’s not ready, don’t play him. What is he doing that you are consistently playing him for? That’s what I want to know. I think Walker has shown more. But not an enormous amount.
Our subs had an air of desperation. Though again the starting team should have got the job done. We’re lacking a bit of depth and quality. Which tbh Chief has to look at all his resources, if the club isn’t giving him better players.
Dammit, thought we looked good and wanted to celebrate that second boy wonder goal with a confident win. May celebrate it anyway.
That elbow by Brattan in the face of Al-Taay - I've seen ones like those given as red cards after VAR review in the A-League! I'm not saying they should be but still in shock as how that's not even a foul

Yeh it’s amazing that the team that was cynical all game managed to hit us in the face with raised arms by accident twice, but unfortunately hard to prove it was deliberate.

Saw a shot of Al-Taay after the match - looks like it might become a black eye
I don't think the inexperienced ref is the reason we lost. I do think the Bulls realised very quickly this is a relatively non-interventional ref and they milked it to the fullest. It is not the reason we lost, but it sure did not make it easier. If someone is outside the field unable to get up, crawling back onto a field of play to lie there is tomfoolery at best.

I don't like Brattan, but in all fairness Al-Taay was behind him and Brattan can easily claim he did not see him. They were not competing for the ball, the ball was in front of Brattan facing his own goal.

Brattan won for being the biggest dickhead on the field. I never liked the guy. We had some good spells. But our subs are not not up to scratch, our counters nog hood enough and I expected more from Cola. I wish Ball back as the midfield enforcer when we get bullied.
