Needless to say, 3 points at home are needed.

Big weekend for Welly.
1. Black Caps West Indies Test match Wednesday to Sunday at the Basin
2. National League final between Olympic and Auckland City 6pm on Saturday December 13, 2025 at Newtown Park
3. Avatar: Fire and Ash Australasian premiere at The Embassy

Chiefy might need to do another drive around giving out free tickets I fear

I notice that Jason Pine hasn't been doing the pre-match interviews for the last little while, some other guy from Newstalk ZB is.  What is the story there?  Did Nix management see him holding that AFC shirt and ban him?

Think you will find Hughes does not play. McCarron over AKH is an interesting one.

He may be able to advise on rearranging the deckchairs

I know, I know, its serious!

With James out, Chiefy will give Hughes as long as possible to hopefully prove his fitness.

But young Jayden Smith could get a start. What is his natural foot?

A possible backline of Loke, Sheridan, LKH, Smith & Armiento.
Presumably Piper still isn't fully fit, and is best staying as that impact striker off the pine.

Mac Munro could be the CB reserve on the bench. Auckland will have Nando Pijnaker doing that role.

Be good if a journalist had shown up to interview Chief instead of Brenton Vannisselroy having to do it on his own.  Maybe they could have asked how far away Retre and Mileusnic are.  How is Payne rehab going? I suspect we won't see him till February.  We just have rotten luck with injuries.  I tell you, I'm very very nervous about this game.

I saw Cliff Curtis down Lambton Quay today.  Guess he's in town for the premiere.  Would anyone from the Nix be lucky enough to be invited?  Maybe Dome? or Rob?

Can it be called an interview or a press conference if its all in house. Just dosnt seem right to me and frankly not good enough.
Mind you if they say they are calling a Press Conference and no one shows up is it their fault. Would be good to have some clarification from the club.

You have to feel sorry for the injured players. A long term injury is terrible for a pro athlete.
Its also makes it tough for a club like ours with not a lot of player depth.
Mileusec and Retre have contributed almost zero minutes this season...Mileusec probably hasnt played a match of football since the end of last season.
Whats going on?
These are experianced AL players who along with Walker would have made a valuable contribution to this season.
We have seven players out for this match. Every club in the AL would struggle with these losses.

Spot on, austin11.  And yes, we are struggling with the body count.
Retre, with all the criticism I levied at him, at least would be a useful experienced player in case we need an extra body in the DM.
At least we got to see Najjarine and James eventually, but I have not seen Mileusnic in action for the Nix yet, with no word out of the club what the potential date for his appearance would be.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Retre was also tried at RCB in pre season, so he may of been useful if fit for this weekends game with the unavailable defenders we have

I'm picking a 2-1 win.

Not very confident about this match. Seven players out, eight if Hughes doesnt recover from his hamstring injury. Thats a third of the squad. It could be quite a make shift defense.

As I said in the other thread. Win this game and we are in the 6. Lose and we are equal bottom. Season defining fixture.

Hmmmmm. Upper Hutt's pathetic Santa Parade where lollies are only given out to your kids friends, not to all kids, and some very lame "floats" with the occasiona  good one, or go to the Nix game. A close call but will be at Sky.

It'll be Sheridan, LKH and either Smith or Piper. But likely Smith

Given the emphasis they have put on Pipers training up front you wouldnt think they would be keen on moving him back.

I'm expecting a strong performance and a few goals playing at home against the league strugglers. I believe in our players, but can't say I'm confident in our coach to deliver that.
Imagine if Chiefy wasn't stubbornly fixated on one defensive system that doesn't even work and we had a functional back 4 plan B to turn to
3 months ago
Wouldnt be expecting a big crowd besides the fact of recent results its friggen hot already and cant see many wanting to spend the money needed to sit at the stadium mid afternoon in it apart from us tragics.

See its that sort of statement i dont get, you believe in the players but if they dont deliver by either not taking shots or missing the target, missing tackles, mistiming passes and playing badly. Its all on the coach, at some stage the players HAVE to be getting some of the blame.

Haven't seen much of Badolato since his early round heroics, so he must be a lock for at least a brace today

You look at the table and anyone can beat anyone. Jets looked very good preseason. Besides Auckland they’ve beaten Heidelberg.

And Victory with Mata beating Adelaide. These are the bottom two!

A cracking but difficult game for us. We hurt Auckland in the first derby, costing them Hall and Rogerson and Brimmer out injured, but this last derby and the ‘Kersey calls’ are coming back to hurt us now.

If Chief can get 5-7 points out of the next 3 I think we’ll be doing very well. 9 would be an absolute statement. 3 a minimum and probably too little too late.
