Yellow Fever are pleased to announce that we will be awarding a Football Scholarship to some young up and coming player this year.

The Scholarship will be in the form of cold hard cash, and maybe a free t shirt, and will be presented at the Fever Awards Night coming soon.

Right now we are after nominations.  Players nominated should be actively fundraising towards some suitable aim.  Naenae 5th team subs are not a suitable aim.

Please PM me, or post your nomination here with a brief message about who you are nominating, why, and what they are fundraising towards.

Nominations close Sunday 29th January 23:59.

Breaking News

Confirmed today: the Youth Scholarship will include a cash amount of $500.

Keep the nominations rolling in.

So far a lot of banter and no serious nominations.  Get your thinking caps on lads and ladies!

Alright lads, I've just spent a stack of time trying to tidy this up.  We're trying to do something genuine for the game here (we have some other irons in the fire as well) and would appreciate it if we could take it seriously.

At least have the decency to avoid it, if it isn't of interest to you rather than undermining others efforts.

This idea and many of the other initiatives take a stack of time and effort from people behind the scenes (who do it out of love, not recompense) and it would be better to admire it than hi-jack it with personal agenda's and humour.  Keep it to the threads that are appropriate.

Thanks.

I saw a kid in Manners Mall today showing off his juggling skills to raise money for a trip to the US for a footy training camp he was invited to. I'll see if he's there tomorrow and get his details (in a non-dodgy way)

Its no longer a problem.

Someone grow the bollocks to ask him who he is and tell him to get on here and nominate himself.

I think I know who he is but someone still needs to nominate him.

Smithy.

I know him his name is Riley K. Never known a more dedicated kid. Won a few comps for his footy including one to the world cup. He's just missed out on a trip to train at Man Utd but wants to play in a USA comp instead. I'm nominating him and i strongly suggest others do as well.

Riley plays in the JPL team I coach. As you say never a more dedicated player, happy to endorse nomination etc. He's saving for a very exciting trip this winter, including camp and tournament, in the USA. We'll miss him of course!

I have a friend - Tihou Messenger Weepu.

Currently plays for Team Wellington Under 19s. A very talented player, so much so that he was given a footballing scholarship last year to play for Mount albert Grammar School. He's also a fast runner, and is part of the 4x400m relay team for MAGS that won the national title. He's also the fourth fastest auckland schoolkid for his age.

This year he is back in Wellignton, and as mentioned plays for Under 19s. I think he would be a great candidate because :

a) He is very talented, very pacy and is very efficient (No bull, i've seen him play!)
b) He's a defender, and lets be frank, we weren't top notch in the defending area this year.

Email me to grab his details, don't want them spreading all over the internet now :)

Ciao

Matiu,

Cheers for that, but:

1. You need to PM me his details, not t'other way round
2. What's he fundraising for?

Look forward to hearing all about it.

I nominate Louis Fenton. He is a dedicated young footballer trying to pay fees for the Soccer Federation Under 15 Western Zone Squad, and other associated costs. He is an Under 15 National Representative, having been on the July'07 China Tour, as well as a NZ Schools Representative and recent Golden Boot recipient at the recent NZ Age Group Tournament in Napier.
Presently trains with Tawa AFC 1st team.
As an aside, his middle names are some of the worlds greatest footballers(blame his father), but don't tell him I told you!
from Knobby-a neighbour of his hugely proud grandparents.
