This is what happens when there is a serious shortage of PAX after a day of overindulgence.

Angst over.

How many people have one of those phoenix flags from the nix store?
Permalink Permalink

I had one of those flags.  But my younger daughter left it at the stadium after the 0-0 CCM game in September (you may remember, windy as hell and the football was lousy).  So I'm flagless.  Are you planning to wear only a flag to the game?

I don't want you to cry again but I think you might be being a little ambitious.

Only a small percentage of the crowd read the forum.

Looks like a rally of a far-right political party.  Might be a good idea - will fill in the time between this game and the next season.

Something simple like a 'scarf wall' might be a lot easier, and about 75% of the crowd around YF has one.

Just a 'Scarves up for the phoenix' or something when they walk out? Start out small and work our way up next season? Might be a bit ambitious to go from nothing to full on tifos

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

No idea.

But my guess is that the easiest way would be to give away flags or whatever with instructions to everyone as they enter.

We might have some new toys for the next game - stadium permission pending.

Sadly, for some clubs - Lazio, for example - they're the same thing. But on the other end of the spectrum, there's my beloved Amaranti of AS Livorno Calcio:

More on commies vs. fascisti in Italian football here. I did notice one dude on the Jest forum asking if the Phoenix "tifo is non political", and perhaps this is what he meant.Doloras2010-02-26 11:23:33

The full on Tifo works best like this.  Economic recession, widespread poverty, pick an ethnic/religious majority or immigrant group*, relentlessly scapegoat them, win an election, undermine democratic processes, have large group rallies with flags, select the stupidest and most evil for positions of mid-ranking power, select the smartest and most evil for positions of top authority, light starter paper, burn books, stand back and watch.

Alternatively give out flags free at the stadium.

* The Newcastle Jets come to mind.

Are we going to have to have fights between left and right wing Phoenix fans? Not that we really have communists in this country - so instead of huge pictures of Che Guevara I'd have to organise one of Sue Bradford.

Anyway, back on topic.

I will put out a call sometime before the season about them.
I would like a tifo crew. Wont involve making one for every single game.

There is a lot of work that goes into tifo's
Sydney plan theirs months ahead. mainly because of the size and scale.
ie.

Ha, you should attend lunch with me and News (commies) versus Wilso (fascist).

It's brilliant at times.

Sometimes ends in us eating very quietly and looking away from each other tho.

Nothing wrong with organising a yellow out. Dont see how people are shooting that down? Just the confetti and streamers part of it gave the impression to the noobie that we were like the 7s,with pre-meditated wackiness and all that.

Allegedly

That can still happen.
Im just exploring other options at the moment in the way of a tifo.
I just need one thing sorted and we will have a tifo. As long as I put in the work next week.

I don't view confetti as a gimmick at all: in fact I associate it with a Big Football Day Out (Spurs have had more than Hull, Ed!). Which is exactly what this is for the majority of us who won't be able to get to the Australian semi.

This.

Pre-meditated wackiness or not, unassuming tifo or not.  This is the LAST home game for the season.

It should be a game to enjoy and have fun (and smash the Jets).

I for one would like to say good on Stefan for attempting / getting this tifo idea working and if it doesn't happen then keen for it next season.

Urawa Red Diamonds have great supporters and put on some great displays of Tifo. Worthy of youtube'ing Bullion2010-02-26 14:07:33

Not during the game.
Only when the teams walk out of the tunnel. then if a goal is scored.

Seems like we could have a few things o the go.

We spoke to Yellow Pages in V1 about something, they weren't keen.

Also has issues with ambush marketing.

Yeah, as hinted above (and now explicitly spoken), it's kinda prohibited

Perhaps they could just provide the old phone books though?

I'm not a fan of the yellow out idea because;

1. Black outs and white outs are easy - everyone has some black or white. Yellow - not so much.

2. There will be a lot of newbies at the game - why make difficult for them to conform and feel comfortable.

3. Our family has wardrobes full of Nix gear loyally bought from the Nix shop - none of it is yellow. None of the shirts sold by the Nix shop are yellow.

4. One gimmick to far for me - a little to close to 7s dress up.

Not losing any sleep over it (i.e. not shooting it down - just not a fan of the idea) and good luck to those who chose to participate - I'll be wearing my lucky black Nix polo.

Now that's a much better idea;

"The club and Positively Wellington Tourism have also launched the "Yell-out for a Sell-out" campaign, encouraging fans at the match against the Jets to show their support for the Phoenix by wearing black and yellow."

Only problem is radio ad only talks about a Yellow out - needs to be black and yellow.
