YF seating location at the Basin Preseason Game

Folks,

Be good to sort out now where we're gonna sit during the preseason game at the basin. Now I know that the bank is a popular place for fans during the cricket, but for football (esp during Winter) it's prob not such a good idea, it is more conducive to lying down in the sun, rather than standing up if you love the nix

So I propose that we aim to occupy a large section of the RA Vance stand. The reasons being:

1. The stand is covered, and it will most likely be raining, being winter and all (and we want everyone in the best of spirits, scarves in the air, not in bad spirits, scarves around the neck)
2. The stand has a solid back, meaning that our sining will reverberate very loudly around the ground.
3. The bank is more conducive to lying around than a mass group standing up, whereas the stands are more suited to having lots of people clsoely packed in
4. The Stand has a solid back, meaning our noise will be amplified
5. See above
6. See above

Great idea!!!!

Sticking together will be great.  And the stand will be good.  Do you think they will block-off some areas or will it be free roam?

Leave the stand for the new people to Footy games. Best they be comfy so they come back.

Hardcore fans should stand opposite the Vance out in the weather.

haha ye i agree! Nah i dnt care where we sit. How much will the games be? Doesnt matter where we are. Stands make sense in the way that our voice will project better however if its a sunny day no doubt bank it!

The old stand all the way let all the wannabes have the vance. If a lot of us turn up that would be the way to go.maybe not the best view but lets get ourselves sorted for the main deal the victory game.

my only fear of sitting in the stand is we will be a long way away from the feild, i rekon the seats or the bank as if there are 500+ of us well be realy loud anyway and closer to the pitch giving us a more agressive and intimadating presense.

there is a reason that the greek national team plays at karaskaki, there is no running track and the stadium starts about 1 metre from the outline so when teams play there its a really agressive and intimadating atmosphere from the fans

any way just a thought, a poll is a good idea

Ye it would be good to see 500 but i dnt thnk we would have that many in our group. However i say bank for that very reason of being close to the field. Much better!

im sure i heard somewhere that tickets would be $10 for adults and free for kids.that should mean a decent crowd.sitting in the stands would be best.i remember back in high school long ago at mcevedy the stands were much better for chanting and going nuts than the bank

If its pissing down with rain go your bank bank.Fine we all want to stand up just hope something can be done for pre season games so we can show wellington what the fever are about.Maybe not over organized but some semblance of order would be nice.

well the stand at newtown park is closer to the pitch than the one at the basin and its smaller i think so the sound was more compact plus you woulda had 1000 people chanting, were looking at 500 (i hope we get more)

if its raining well phuck!!!!! we'll take raincoats

Coxey, do you know if there will be any temporary seating on the ground at the basin?

Normo's coming home

I don't know for sure, can ask.....but feel it would be unlikely as they'll be looking to fill the ground and let people sit/stand where they want.  I haven't seen any temp seating at the Basin before - where have they put it in the past?
Would probably be better to spend money on promoting the game and enhancing the event on gameday rather than on seating.....

I remember going to the chatham cup in the early 90's and they had a stand set up on one side, wasn't huge but tiered seating for maybe a couple of thousand.  On the grass next to the pitch.

My vote is for the old stand though, good view from high and a good meeting and rallying point.

Sofa's for football? You planning on having a nap? And how long do you intend to be at the game for? It's only 90 minutes you know. ..

My legs are having trouble moving after the weekends game so chose the caledonian as closer to ground i.e. less walking

This does need some thought . . . Personally I'm in favour of the Cam, beacsue then we can walk down Cambridge Terrace in a big mob waving our flags and being generally noisy on our way to the ground.

What approach do we take guys:

The Wembley approach, ie get to pub, drink up large and the leave pub half an hour before game and wander down road singing and chanting

or

The Highbury approach, go to a pub right beside the ground, sing songs and drink right up til the last minute and then race into the ground to catch the kickoff

both have their merits

I vote for the Wmebly approach, bu would happily do the Highbury approach if that was the consensus . ..  Howsabout a poll?
