Saskia Vosper and Chloe Knott playing National League with Auckland United this season. Would say those two, especially Knott, are absolute locks for Auckland FC in 2025

Hope Breslin to the USL Super League.

You think she'd be a little bit happier about the move though. 😂

Anyone else heard that Macey Fraser is back in NZ now?

Anyone else heard that Macey Fraser is back in NZ now?

I note these comments from this week's Niche Cache (Flying Kiwis) edition.

They (Racing Louisville) play Utah Royals next but Macey Fraser probably won’t be involved considering how she still hasn’t returned from the ankle injury she suffered at the Olympics. Oddly, she’s been listed as absent due to an “excused absence” rather than the ankle injury for the past couple games. Not sure what that means but there are a couple of other Royals players in the same boat.

Quick, but outside of that... she really doesn't offer much.

She doesn't know how to time a run, or use angles to get in behind for a through ball, her finishing is non existant and when she tries anything technical, half the time it bounces off her shin.

She has all the intent in the world, the energy and physical abilities to succeed, but just lacks the mental side IMO. She's our Appiah in the womens game.

Not trying to be mean - just very limited IMO.

Didn't take football seriously and move from football backwater Rotorua to Auckland until her late teens. Was a top runner before that. But if you are getting your first high level technical coaching at 15-17 it's too late.

A little telling that the Nix contracted another winger out of NPL Victoria (in Tanaka) rather than give Satchell a contract.
Good on her for turning out in the local national League though. Football is a funny old game. Satchell would have had some great overseas experiences in her football journey so far. And its not too late. Auckland FC.....

So Marisa van der Meer has been released by the Phoenix it seems?
https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/360462714/league-women-2024-25-season-preview-wellington-phoenix-aim-high-despite-mass
She did her ACL on Ferns duty in Colombia almost exactly a year ago.
Has she not recovered from that?
i wonder if she'll continue playing at some level once she's fit again.
Released by mutual consent but will be offered a contract for 2025-26 if she passes the medical tests next September.

Article from the club here.

i mean she's had a season in the league ad time to settle in Aus, so it's not shocking that he is comfirtably slotting shots like that - had we been abkle to keep her she'd be doiing it for us too,

If Brown goes on to have a banger of a season at Perth, you would have to ask serious questions of Temple. Just like with Jones & Lawrence why did they never play Macey Fraser.

Early days of course. Understand Brown's coach at Perth was also her coach at her NSW NPL side, where she was prolific.

Both goals so far have been from a long way out, shots we don't often try taking under Temple.

Brown clearly knows where the goal is, and she can strike it well.
I have to say based on Porirua yesterday, our current lot largely dont and cant.

Also , I love it when this happens.

Jets had twice the possession, twice the number of completed passes, and a much better pass accuracy rate.
And they LOST.

I hate all the useless stats banded about now, "Expected Goals" and similar bullshyte.

There is only one stat that matters, and thats Goals!

Another former Nix player flourishing after she leaves the club:
Former Nix goalie Brianna Edwards is currently the starting goalie at champions Sydney FC
Two games, two starts:
https://int.soccerway.com/players/brianna-jayne-edwards/630968/
Poor start for Sydney - two losses, four goals conceded, one scored.
From what I've seen, she's been playing well and the goals conceded can't be blamed on her.
